Ah thanks, i see it now!
I got confused by the title "alt hero colours" and "al heroine colours", no idea why it's 2 items and not just one but hey ho.
I'm glad everything's ok. ;)

In other news, new games at Chrono.gg to spend your coins:

Yeah alt colours are part of the preorder bonus, they removed the mention on Steam and they are not in the Devil May Cry 5 - Deluxe Upgrade on Steam

I'm glad everything's ok. ;)

Some games are weird.
Frogwares' Sherlock Holmes games require Win XP compatibility set to run. Sometimes Iwon't need to do that and so Steam overlay runs fine, other times gotta set compatibility =_=

I was reminded the other day of a compatibility mode issue I ran into in Deadly Premonition. I played through the entire game thinking that the limited range that you could aim up and down was a design decision, in part because it was never really an issue until I got to the final boss. Against the final boss though I couldn't beat him because even though I was pretty sure I knew what I was supposed to do beat him there was no way for me to actually shoot at what it seemed like I needed to because I couldn't aim down far enough. After a few tries I figured I was doing something wrong and went and watched a video of the boss fight and someone did exactly what I'd been doing except they had no problem aiming down at the target and shooting it.

So I went and checked PC Gaming Wiki and it was a known issue, with the fix for it being too set the game to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode.

The fuck.
Was this game made and ported using Windows 98 computers?

Just preordered Sekiro, despite not liking Dark Souls, so hopefully this will be easier and/or less obscure. From what I've been told and reading, it's removing many mechanics I never understood or cared for in DS1, so this is very promising.

Also bought an Argentinian game, Ethereal:

It would appear that my trek through Frogwares' older Sherlock Holmes games have to be put on hold-
1- The game's glitch out from time to time preventing me from making a new save file.
2- They refuse to run with steam overlay on which may mean I need to re-install certain NVidia drivers any time I play them so they can play nice without Win XP compatibility.

A shame really since I enjoyed taking screenshots of just how clean they look

Well, bought DMC V.

Why do I, a fool, get money to spend?

If they're on old directx maybe they work with a wrapper like dgvoodoo2? I use it for really old games like SWAT3 (but I'm not sure how Steam handles it).

Thing is the games were accepted to run fine without dgvoodoo. I'll consider using it in the future when I replay the games.

For now I'm doing Testamnet of Sherlock Holmes. Playing it on PC is a better experience than my initial PS3 playthrough. The slowdowns and low fps are something I dread returning to, eurgh.

I knew personalization could theoretically happen with F2P games, e.g. personalized odds for lootboxes, which would be a disgusting practice to milk whales. Props to Bethesda for not hiding the fact that they are going to personalize time-limited discounts. That is the first time that I see a dev of a F2P Steam game openly admit that personalization is a thing.

For the record, they have collected data during the "Festival of Madness" (one deal per day during last December). I guess they have figured out a few different player profiles and ways to put people into these boxes.

I actually kind of like the idea of sales personalization, as long as developers keep it generally non-exploitative.

League of Legends has done temporary, personalized sales multiple times a year for a few years now. The temporary shop offers you discounts on six skins, based on what its algorithms believe you'll be interested in, apparently based on things like per champion playing time; champion roles; purchasing habits in similar players, etc. And the discounts range from 20-70% off.

It doesn't always work, and sometimes its recommendations are poop, but it can work. Hypothetically, if you're a marksman/ADC player, your shop might look like this:

For everyone unfamiliar with the game, that screenshot has 5 unique marksman, and one former marksman that's now played in the jungle.

I can't find any screenshots of my own shop, but as a support main, mine has looked similar to this in the past:

Four supports, two junglers, which would be a mix of things I play and things the game thinks I might want to play.

All in all, I think it's a pretty good way to offer players chances to buy skins at discounts tailored to them.

Played a few hours of DMC5 and RE2 today, For RE2 I guess the texture setting above high is the memory size you tell the game to use or something and not quality, seems like it's what causing my ram usage spikes, probably because it ran out of vram and started using system memory so it start to freeze when it does, that's my guess anyway, played through an entire section and didn't get the high memory usage I did before. Still got some small drops for a split second when loading areas in both games, but they're tolerable and not a big deal.

DMC5 is fun, played through 9 missions so far, still not used to V, he can be a bit slow because he rely on summoning, V also use them for dodging and double jumping so they have to take a second to spawn to attack when you do, the positioning and camera can also make things a bit difficult when there are multiple mobs to deal with. It's a nice change of pace though.

RE engine looks so goooood.

First half of the trailer is like, what if they had UE4 in the Dreamcast days. So faithful to 1 & 2 and so distinct and unlike contemporary stuff :)

Game's gonna have a unique identity for sure. Can't wait. Later scenes look a little rougher but hopefully they haven't been through the final polish pass.

Suck it haters, it's almost here. I always wtfed at the hate campaign for this game, calling it a scam and shit, same for Star Citizen, they both show clear steady progress even if they missed dates and people are clearly working their asses off on them. Then again haters will bash it no matter what on release as it's not going to be a Grand Theft Auto 6 caliber massive AAA game of multi-million sales, as if anyone expected that out of a small scale crowd fund for a niche series.

I'm just hoping for an adventure on par with Shenmue 1 & 2. Not on par with the revolution they were for their time, just what they were as games in the end. A comparatively to modern open stuff small scale, not quite sandbox but mostly linear yet at your own pace with a lot of details in each of the small areas, a lot of character interactions, some puzzles, side activities, and of course a decent combat system and a nice plot development out of it all.

My only real worry at the moment is the new combat system. I loved that 1 & 2's was like Virtua Fighter and at the time hoped the eventual 3 would take that further and clone it outright, at least for the 1 on 1 fights, as I felt the new elements didn't quite work out, it was a bit messy. Now they're doing something new and unproven as they can't copy SEGA's Virtua Fighter again so, we'll see. But even if it's not the greatest I'm getting it for the whole, not just the combat.

I'm sure Shenmue 3 will be great, if it goes to EGS I have no issues buying it for consoles, it's a game that cannot be skipped.
