I don't know what I expected when I clicked that link, but I'm sure it wasn't this.

I played through Downward this weekend, which I bought for $7.50 way back in December of 2016 when it was in early access. I am a sucker for any kind of 3D platforming, so I had a decent 10 hours with the first person parkour sort-of-collectathon. The story is barely there, the voice acting is terrible and the “combat” is really dumb, but the core traversal was fun enough to keep me engaged. I certainly wouldn’t run out and buy it, but if it falls into your hands and you like 3D platforming you might give it a chance.
That history of getting one single warning for dissing consoles.
Better be careful when reporting mods and commenting on their questionable behaviour.

I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at the hypocrisy. Moderator gets to have a shit take and not get called out. Bans you for pointing it out. Fuck right off tbh.
Don't know what to say outside that. Guess I'm just glad MC exists and that we have the rules we do. It's better to be honest and all equal imo.
Edit: The "history" part is absolutely dicks too. I have ONE warning for calling another member an idiot when they were plain as day trolling. My second was actually a 24-hour ban by an Admin after I critiqued the new theme and features too hard, but we sorted that out over PM's/Discord and my ban was revoked. (Most of my critique was caused by confusion as apparently Firefox was not tested with new stuff, the Era devs use chrome for everything I guess.)

There are enough admitted perils with digital ownership, why would we want to add artificial scarcity into it? Literally one of the most important benefits that digital ownership has over physical?

I tried era, got perma banned (actually now I recall at first it was a two week ban, then I thought I'd wait it out but after checking back again it had been changed to a perma ban) after a deliberately guided misunderstanding, moved on, tried new-gaf, got temp banned after a shitshow of others, went back, saw the other person was banned, tried to give it another shot, stopped visiting anyway cos really it's just a shit show. I'm too left for gaf and too right for era or something according to their knee jerk reactions. Moving on except when I went back to gaf to post about this or that game just to help promote it a little bit, not even visiting either place for gaming news now, all I need is gamespress, gematsu a couple more places and certain niche sites for rpg, vr, pc, indie stuff.
Found this place cos it's nice to have a place to talk gaming without helping some dodgy site via its forums like ign or gamespot and such.
Maybe everyone can say everything now so we can skip past it all

the moderation at the other place showed their ass long ago. Still remember the name change shitshow where they banned me for a day or two and threatened to give me a perma if i criticised moderation ever again. They put that "history of hostility" garbage on there as well and when i called them out on it they provided me with them going through my post history trying to find every single post i ever made that didn't approve what a mod did or i taking some light hearted jabs at them.
oh yeah could have told you. got banned a year ago for reporting a mod. never got a warning, just a perm. nothing was lost.

I have high hopes for Trüberbrook, please be good, please be this year's Thimbleweed Park. Not perfect by any means but it was a great pnc adventure to sink your teeth into. Also almost two years old to this day already, whew.
Maybe they should have say, a handful of mods needing to vote the same (within a time frame) for a ban/whatever to take effect, otherwise they might as well have a bunch of Amir0xs running around like my first ban was from back in the day, such a honest person that his bans shouldn't be questioned obviously. So I wouldn't say that case is necessarily actual era policy, maybe it just so happened the first mod to see the report was the mod he reported so he banned him and deleted all records or something. Hard to fix for a large forum but they aren't even trying I guess. Even mod votes could be compromised eventually of course, if they fraternize together a lot and develop certain relationships when like-minded about certain things they could still collaborate for bs, who knows.That seems really low, and weird. Seems like it, feels like they're actively pushing out the PC Community so maybe it's not just few mods that wish that though. Oh well.

I was having a bad day so decided to bury my head and play Devil May Cry 5 instead of getting near that thread.... and now I see it was a bloodbath... eesh. I know moderating a forum that large is incredibly difficult, but there are solutions if they really wanted it, after all other controversial topics have zero tolerance with bad faith arguments. Hope some good (and very patient) people don't go completely missing.
But returning to games: I suck at DMC5, but even so "auto" mode is way to auto for me. Obviously the character I'm better with is the one everyone hates .

I don't want to foul up the thread with too much more moderation discussion, but some of what you're describing is prone happen on almost all moderated discussion venues.
- Users who are disliked for one reason or another can end up on a moderator's personal "shitlist" and be actioned by the more frequently. But most discussion venues typically don't tell you who is actioning your posts, so there's often little recourse to know if it's the dude with a vendetta coming after you, or just an average mod.
- Conversely, users who are "liked" by moderation can get extra leeway to a point where it's often unreasonable, getting to make posts/arguments in tones and language that would be policed in about two seconds by a less known user.
- On top of all of this, moderation teams have to deal with a lot of nonsense complaints and behavior in general, which often unfortunately ends up making the moderators unwilling to hear legitimate complaints when they're offered. Having become so useful to crappy feedback, they just circle the wagons and ignore the good feedback on the rare occasion someone offers it.
- And to cap it all off, most discussion forums do not offer a place to contest removed threads/posts, closed threads, bans and warnings. The fact that this forum actually has that is pretty rare as far as I've experienced. And even in venues that it does exist (e.g., I've used /r/LeagueOfLegends companion "meta" subreddit that deals with removals), the moderators typically offer very little in the way of actual interaction and discourse.
Saw an Ace Combat 7 patch then saw the post regarding flight stick support and got excited but in the end it was older so the patch did something else
Idk, the port is seemingly absolutely fine tech/performance wise and if you just play it with one of those sticks or a regular ass controller then it's perfectly serviceable but if you had hopes for anything else and take even one brief look at the various available configuration menus it just screams hackjob, so lame.
Trying to add individual products support is just dumb, just give us a configuration screen that will let us select a function, then wait for input from whatever device we choose to map to that. Having specific presets for specific sticks should merely be an option, not the only way to play with a flight stick. I mean, even if I had one of these devices maybe I'd want to map it how I want and use it in combination with a keyboard or whatever for some stuff. What a waste

I feel like they've turned sharp critical tone against any mod into "History of hostility" as if you're hurling expletives and threatening them in real life. How can they expect us to foster a community when one of their mods was basically shitposting and refuses to engage when presented with a counterpoint?

My friens got a new pc set up with a gtx 1060 and today i checked steam with hia account.
The recommended list suggested the more well regarded games on steam auch as dead by daylight, divinity os2 and other games that ud expect the algorithm to recommend including 1 indie game.
It also recommended murdered soul suspect because i played it (he just started and has only 2 in his friendlist)
I helped him set up exclusion to his disc. Que to exclude stuff as well.

Asgard's Wrath is starting to look promising, combat looks like a solid compromise between Blade & Sorcery's full physics and more gamey rules.
