So far 6 development kits have been found thanks to the social networks interestingly enough no game is like the other, very different approaches, genres and scale of games, so far all indies, that's what they all have in common but aside from that it's quite interesting that they went to a very varied poll of developers.

See the list here.

-Terraria developers
-Tabletop Simulator developers
-Gmod/Rust developers
-The Long Dark developers
-V-Katsu developers
-Getting Over It with Bennett Fodd developer
And one more dev kit in the wild found.
-Rivals of Aether developers

I have already started a collection on steam for the games I'm going to play on the Deck. I can't wait! But the wait is going to be long!
I already have a collection ready and it's funny because I keep buying games and then I realize that I want to play them on the Deck lol

Same here, moved a lot of games that I want to play on a small factor device to their own category "for Deck". Biggest thing I look forward are the two Ace Attorney collections, replaying the classic ones and the new great ace attorney games on a small screen will be great. Those games are clearly designed for a small screen and look strange to me when played on a monitor.

In my case most of the games I moved to my "Deck" collection are either JRPGs or Indie games I feel I will enjoy more "on-the-go" (which in my case means moving around the house haha)

For me the deck will be indie game machine pretty much. AAA on the series S, CRPGs on my Mac and then the rest on the deck.
Great combo there, I will be using my main PC for AAA as always + Deck for the ones I mentioned above.

It will be a great device to tackle my backlog with and play less intensive new releases. I'm also low-key really looking forward to messing with non-traditional inputs like the trackpads, touch screen and gyro. Hopefully the input configuration and sharing UI are also improved because I can see myself enjoying tinkering with that. It's shaping up to be the kind of handheld gaming experience I've always wanted -- a focus on customizability minus the restrictive nature of Nintendo's console/UX design ethic or the hacky stuff you'd have to do to get more out of Sony's, which I've always felt uneasy about.

I'm not that organised. I'm just going to try stuff when my Deck turns up and see if it works for me or not.
There are games i won't get around to until the Deck turns up next year but i'm not actively avoiding a game just to play it on my SteamDeck.

I think I will keep using my laptop to play competitive FPS and the most demanding games. The rest should be perfect on Deck. I already have USB-C dock with power delivery collecting dust ( because I no longer use it with my laptop) so I can use it to connect Deck to TV in case I wanted to play something on bigger screen :evilblob:

Nice to see that so far it’s not just big studios getting them. Maybe with the recognition that those are less likely to mess around with it than small-mid sized dev operations.

It's funny that Japanese developers can get the devkit even though the pre-order hasn't opened in Asia yet.

Yeah, it's funny, also quite a few developers around there are getting kits and Japanese users are quite interested on getting the machine.

Cloudhead games (Pistol Whip) also got a dev kit (they worked with Valve in the past for Index) and it's funny because they want to test VR capabilities haha

I hope the Deck can sell well enough that most people around the world can get it without troubles. Although PC gaming is not huge among Japanese, the country has a lot of hardware geeks so I think it will sell decently there. :cat-heart-blob:

But Japan loves their handhelds so I can see the Deck catching on, IF people actually learn about it. Cant buy something you don't know exists.
It's actually a common argument that I don't agree. Japanese ain't particularly prefer handheld, because if they didn't like facing the TV, console like Wii or games like Monster Hunter World or Ring Fit wouldn't have sold like hot cakes there. What they really prefer is a good console (be it home console or portable) with good Japanese line-up. Many Japanese I know don't even play western-developed games. Sadly Sony is putting less and less effort on Japanese line-up midway into PS4 so many users and developers just jumped ship to Switch, thus creating an illusion that Japanese want portability over everything else.

Has there been any new impressions on how the Steam Deck feels?
A few, aside from the ERA user on their Deck thread, some of the developers who are updating their kits have shared a few quick impressions about the hardware, you should totally check out the tweets and quotes and see if you can find what you are looking for.

Counterpoint: Half of GPD sales are from Japanese buyers.
They want that VN playing device on the go.

This is likely filesystem level, so can't do easily on Windows -> probably Steam Deck related.
Unless you do virtual filesystem.
Has anyone said whatever power adapter fits in the case? Because from images it looks like there's not much space.

Because of TPM 2.0 requirement. I don't know if Steam Deck has it or not
All newer CPUs support TPM 2.0, it's just normally not enabled in the BIOS. As long as Valve enables it by default, there shouldn't be anything you as a user need to do to get Windows 11 running on it.

Man, I can't relate at all to those planning on installing Windows on this thing. Yeah, I know, they have games on other services, I get it. For me personally a huge part of the appeal is that I will finally have a PC gaming device that isn't running Windows.

It's not only running OS different to Windows, but the said OS is optimized in various ways for this device ( sleep mode, game suspending, updates, etc) and also has been customized to be controller friendly.

There is no way I'm installing Windows on this thing.

Same. I'm happy using windows on my desktop but I cannot comprehend putting in the work to actively downgrade your experience (and I'm pretty confident that windows is going to be a downgrade in UX compared to SteamOS). Unless you only want to play GamePass stuff, then yeah you don't really have a choice.

Mike Rose from No More Robots tweeted about their Steam Deck dev kit, in the first one we can see Descenders and the second one is for Yes, Your Grace! which includes touch screen controls as controller option is yet to be implemented in the game.

I will be giving Linux on Steam Deck a chance, but I'm more than willing to put Windows on it and have a facsimilie of my desktop setup (launch straight into Playnite for 10 foot UI) if necessary.

But I don't know, is it even a real PC if I can't somehow get it to show me a BSOD?
