Solid Direct, not much that interests me in the way of multiplats, though. Glad Klonoa is coming to Steam, and I have some residual nostalgia for playing the fan-translated SFC version of Live A Live back in the day, so maybe I'll give that a shot (it seems to be a Switch exclusive at launch, but I imagine it'll come to PC a bit later)

Dropping Portal 1 and 2 on the Switch right as the Deck is about to launch is such a Valve move hahaha. Gabe just does not give a fuck. Them and Epic couldn't be any more different if they tried lmao. Really goes to show how profoundly stupid journos and devs are being when they make those asinine "VaLvE bAd" arguments.

Maybe Valve is gearing up for a Portal 3 some time in the future so they are porting older stuff to consoles.

Seems to weird to do the Lab stuff with the Vive and now these Switch ports. They aren't letting those games and the ip die that is for sure.

Source 2 is right there waiting for Valve to make a new non-VR game with it. I would have said 5% chance yesterday...but now I am going up to 25% chance today that Portal 3 is happening. Wouldn't surprise me if they solved a bunch of motion sickness stuff in the VR space and maybe a Portal 3 VR exclusive could be a possibility too.

SQEX trademarked Live A Live back in July 2020. So be patient if you are waiting for something, either videogame-related or not, things will come to fruition eventually.

Happy about Klonoa coming to Steam but kinda sad that the Chrono Cross remaster seems to be the PS1 version with slightly touched up textures.

Of the first party Nintendo games I'm hoping that they will have a CE. I never played the Wii Mario Strikers games but I really like the GameCube game.

Day 1 purchase for Klonoa and SD Gundam! Great announcement overall for the direct. Hopefully Klonoa reaches other consoles and PC in a short time after the Switch release!

THE GOD TIER SOUNDTRACK FOR CHRONO CROSS BETTER NOT GET FUCKED UP IN THE PORT. I WILL RIOT!

That all said, I hope Front Mission1/2 and Live A Live come to PC/Steam too, but I feel not very hopeful about it.

Decided to give Rogue Tower a try.

Starts off as your typical tower defense game. The usual stuff, put towers down, enhance the towers to do more damage. However the first unique part is the maps aren't fixed. They are randomly generated. Early maps just have one lane for example, however after defeating the first boss you get a couple of more lanes to expand out to.

Also you can micro manage towers. So you can set the furthest out towers to prioritise shields and then the mid ones to focus on taking out the lower health enemies and so on.

Towers are given to you via a card system. Initially, upon a level up you get a choice of three cards which may be buffs, new towers or economy buildings. However these can be expanded to give you more choices per run or upgrade to allow newer building types and so on. This is done between runs via an upgrade system. The upgrade system is permament between runs (although there is an overall reset as well so you can play with it to your hearts content) and allows you to buff towers, get starting bonuses like more gold or slightly better towers.

Overall I have enjoyed what I have played of it (admittedly about 10-20 minutes and will give it some more time in my lunch break).

Obscure RPG only a bunch of nerds on the Internet know about: full blown remake

Literally one of the games people won't shut up about: PS1 ISO with hacked together ini file to bump up resolution

Square Enix, man.
What do you expect? This is the same company that never ported Final Fantasy Tactics to non-mobile platforms. They don't give a fuck. It's already strange they decided to touch Chrono Cross in the first place.

I was researching a bit potential next location for new AC game (Baghdad in 9th century) and I stumbled into this artwork and now I want AC game there (it is apparently concept art of Baghdad)

Kudos for not putting a piss filter on the art work to make it look "middle eastern".

An AC game during early Islamic period would be quite amazing, but instead of Iraq, I would rather want to see it set in the Caliphate of Cordoba. Some amazing architecture from that very short time period (barely over a hundred year) still stands to this day.

Baghdad is interesting because it was the biggest city in the world at that time (9th century) and that was Islamic Golden Age.

Many beautiful cities from that time. AC 1 already covered Damascus, and it would be nice to see other big cities of the islamic golden age, that's true.

AC1 is the only one I haven't replayed. The design and mission structure is so janky I just can't. The world is amazing.

Watched Giant Bomb streaming the Nintendo Direct and was struck by how ambivalent I found myself over the presented content.

I tried to put myself in the imaginary mindset that all the material was coming to PC to see how attractive it would be under those circumstances. "Is this something I'd purchase on Steam?" The only title that piqued my interest was the Advance Wars 1 & 2 package. Oddly, in spite of the blowback I've read online over the AW1&2 remake graphical overhaul, I think it looks great.

So general reception for the Direct seems super positive. I'm happy for the fans, but I sure did walk away chuckling a bit to myself over how unimpactful it all felt to my own personal taste.

Guess ultimately it's good that there's a little something for everyone out there either way.

I finished DS2 SotFS yesterday, and besides some parts with the dumb amount of enemies, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My journey started as a deprived, it was my first time playing with that class in the series so it was a nice change of pace. For mostly of the game I played as a hybrid of hexer and melee, though I changed for a pure melee because I was being completely destroyed by the Burnt Ivory King fight.

Now to search for something more relaxing to play.

I realized many, many years ago that 99% of my gaming needs are covered with PC & Nintendo.
Kirby looks neat and XC3 i suppose but with no Xenoblade Chronicles X 2 news the Direct was an objective waste of time and effort.

Nah, there was some good things shown but not much for my interests to be sure but hey the world doesn't revolve around me so i'm okay with that.

( One day i will stop going on about XCX2 but today is not that day. he he he. )

Is this good or bad? Just seems like extra work for me
Depends on the implementation. Currently when you launch the game on Steam, you just launch the launcher and then you have to do a separate login process. With this change we have two possibilites here:

1) It stays the same and just fucks people with complicated Steam account situations
2) Steam users get a faster login process like the PS4 version got when Square tied those service accounts to PSN accounts.

Considering they're saying Steam users will need to use the new launcher, I'm hoping for the latter, which would be really nice.

EdwardTivrusky love for Xenoblade makes me feel bad every time. I want to love the series, spiritual successor of Xenogears as it is, but damn, I played 20-30 hours of 1 and it was so boring. Once every blue moon you get some cool cutscene with mysterious mechas, then it's back to boring quests.
I had to accompany a princess to an obvious trap is obvious before, uh, stupidly losing my save :cryblob:

Kirby looks nice but a little too Mario Odyssey for my liking. Would play, anyway.
Front Mission looks good. Live a Live is appreciated. Xenoblade 3, if you are not stupid and have not lost your save midway through the first one like me.
Other than that, meh. Very solid Direct, though.

PS. No Triangle Strategy for me until I read some posts saying swear to God the writing and rhythm is better than Octopath.

Xenoblade X is the elephant in the room haha. That game has too much lore and potential to stay dead.

Let Monolith Soft finish the mainline XB story as well as the action game IP, then, I think Nintendo will greenlight a XBX remaster.
