|OT| The PC Hardware Thread -- Buy/Upgrade/Ask/Answer

Im looking at the pc part picker site, and I get this warning, what does it mean exactly?
I’ve not seen than before on PCPP, but it means your CPU cooler can only handle 100w of heat output from the CPU, whereas the CPU can max out at 120w.

Potential thermal throttling?

The long and short: pick a new CPU cooler.

Oh that sucks, I like be quiet, it was cheap and small enough for the case.

Thinking about switching to this case instead, also really nice but the one thing Im worried about is noise levels, since its textile, so nothing really do dampen sounds and its going to sit on the desk right next to the monitor.

Also wonder how dusty it's going to become. Also are my cats going to use it as a scratch post.XD

My IPS monitor has a response time setting. If I set it to Fastest, there's tons of black smearing when you rotate the camera. Makes me think, oh, this is what having a VA panel must be like. (I've never had one but I've heard about black smearing)

It's interesting because all the black outlines left behind makes it seem as if I can track targets better while whipping the camera around. Might just be placebo. The outlines stand out starkly against the smeared colors in motion.

It's like the lamest possible version of Terminator's red-highlight targetting on his built-in HUD.

Think this is what Im going for, any ideas? I already have the case, CPU fan and power. For the GPU, by the time Ive managed to save up for it there might be the next generation of it. I know the next CPU is around the corner but I think Im still going to aim for that one. Hopefully it will go down in price by the time I will buy it.

seems pretty good. If this is your first build with a mini ITX, then be prepared for the installation taking a bit longer than with a big tower, since with those, space is never an issue and you have plenty of room to route cables through. With a smaller case, that all becomes more tricky.
