New week, new thread! What are you playing?

Continuing Yumina the Ethereal. Progress:
  • Act 1 Bad Ending
  • Main Route: Kurokawa Kirara - WIP
  • Main Route: Okitsu Ai
  • Main Route: Midorishita Yumina
  • True Ending Epilogue
Dungeons:
  • Marane's Maw - 20/120
  • Mezelt Tomb - 20/120
  • Key to Heaven Irukaruo - 0/120
  • Path of Cracks- 0/120
Just entered Act 2 of the main story. The intermission chapter between Act 1 and 2 was pretty hyped, although the story kept being simplistic and very convenient. Going to dive into the dungeons soon.

Also picked up Fire Emblem Warriors again. It's a comfort-food game to me. Just pick it up, play one or two stages and put it down. Simple and fun.

I've got a PPSSPP emulator on my phone and am playing a bit of Jeanne D'Arc during long trains or flights. Man this game has a great style! Level-5, anime aesthetics, Cool transformations-- almost magical girl like, though men can do it too. Frenchness abounds. Why didn't this game sell a bunch of copies?

I need some reputable info on the Mina demo. How was it? How long is it, etc?
It took me ~50 minutes and I died 6 times (if the game stats at the end are to be believed).
It was fine, you get to explore an area and fight 3 bosses (I guess how the combat feels will depend on what weapon you chose at the beginning).
There's a bit of soulsy element to the exploration that if you die 2 times in a row (and don't recover the spark) you will lose all your bones (souls).

Got tired of The Last of Us Part II, so I dropped it.

I felt the story and gameplay were too inconsistent, which made the whole narrative themes feel cheap.

“Finished” Mario Kart World, but I still have characters to unlock and lots of online to play.

So up next is Cyberpunk 2077 on my Xbox and Switch 2 via cross-save.

Mostly Ryza 2.

Actually wiped for the first time earlier today, I think I'm at the last boss. Combat difficulty hasn't really been an issue, but I guess everyone in my party is a bit of a glass cannon, so the boss just kind of did some kind of big screen filling attack and took everyone out in one shot. Maybe I should invest in better armor. :grinning-face: I already made a significantly better accessory and me now knowing that topping up health before that attack is a good idea just in case, that actually might be enough to survive.

Am continuing on with Kingdom Hearts 3. I am enjoying it. Right now I think 2 is better though.
But I'm currently in the Toy Story world and get to pilot mechs, so that gives bonus points :)

Season 2 start of Zenless also dropped on Friday and I have been massively binging it (it also has a mech event, but I haven't started that yet).
It's a good start, am enjoying it.
Highlight is still the combat for me (and the overall vibes), the game feel of the new headliner character is sublime. She's so much fun to play. Has various ways to trigger perfect parries and dodges in her kit with proper timing that recover extra energy to fuel her moves.

Went back to continue climbing the old Battle Tower for the challenge and to practice. It's intense, but oh so satisfying.

My second week of playing Fantasian Neo Dimension.

I'm almost convinced that the latter half of this game is one of the hardest JRPGs I ever had the pleasure to play. This is on Hard (original) difficulty. I still on the fence whether to take a knee or curse at Mistwalker. Probably a bit of both. :flare_lmao:

SaGa (any entry) were pretty tough too, but there are multiple ways we can approach a boss encounter. Fantasian, however, has less flexibility. Debuffs are stronger and difficult to remove. Encounters last longer, and turning the tide when two out of three party members are down for the count is much more difficult.

To illustrate, an example: let's say a particular boss encounter will inflict a negative status effect on the party. This status effect can't be removed during the entire duration of the fight. Unless a certain piece of equipment is equipped. Now, this piece of equipment is a rare drop, and the party will need at least 3, one for each active party member.

Keep in mind that on hard difficulty, the margin of error is very low. Engaging the boss with less than ideal equipment will most likely end in a certain death, because any attempt to recover the other party members that aren't equipped with the prerequisite gear will cost precious turns. The turns that can otherwise be used to actually: 1) debuff the boss and 2) whittle down the boss' HP. Of which there are plenty (six digits). And finally, after the fight, the boss will drop the piece of equipment needed to beat them in the first place! :flare_lmao:

I still enjoyed it a lot, but like SaGa before it, it is also unapologetic in its approach, so I can totally understand why not many people like this game.

I finished Ryza 2 yesterday and just now finished Forgotton Anne.

Going to play Call of Juarez: Gunslinger next since it's my last blitz game.
