We just finished a successful twenty-seventh season of the Backlog Blitz. Or series if you're British (like the winner of the raffle!). Normally I look back at what happened during the last quarter to point out some highlights. There were the Summer showcases, so many future backlog games were announced and shown off. But also the industry continues to implode and things look like we might want to rely on our backlogs for some time as nobody can afford games. That's super fun! With 28...

New week, new thread! What are you playing? Continuing Octopath Traveler. I finished all chapter 2 stories. Despite getting used to the format and systematic nature of the game, sometimes I still can't shake the feeling of "this story doesn't work at all". In particular the story of Therion the thief. Mandatory stealing in his main story should result in an ideology clash with another character, Tressa the merchant. But because this game isn't about character interaction in story, there is...
New week, new thread! What are you playing? Continuing Octopath Traveler. I started completing chapter 2 of multiple characters. But before that, I went into all the job shrines to acquire the 8 secondary jobs so that all 8 party members can start leveling those up asap. I was expecting the chapter 2s would be more complex but structurally they are just rehashes of chapter 1s, except the towns are way bigger. Huh. Hopefully I will not get burnt-out. Maybe I should try venture into some...
New week, new thread! What are you playing? Continuing Octopath Traveler. Got all 8 travelers yesterday so I started going into optional dungeons. I remember reading some criticisms about the game in the past, and I started to understand most of them. The game insists on its identity - it is about 8 travelers dealing with their own problems. The party travels together but they never interfere one another. It generates a curious dissonance that doesn't exist in most other JRPGs because most...
New week, new thread! What are you playing? The heat is getting unbearable, so I only play Octopath Traveler because it doesn't heat up the room further. Five members in my party now, with H'aanit being the latest one. Gotta say, this opening is quite dull because we are forced to go through the same process 8 times to unlock the full party, although I can see the necessity or this stage. I do enjoy the grinding though. Always think that grinding is very soothing.
OK. I had been on the fence about getting one of those ROG Xbox Ally thingos (not the X version, just the regular Steam Deck comparable one)... I didnt need any hardware beef, I never play any "demanding" or visually intensive games on my Steam Deck OLED anyway. I just wanted a portable that could play all my VNs and various games with Linux issues without any fucking around with dual boot... I want to install mods using the familiar Windows interface Im used to, etc etc. So I finally...

New week, new thread! What are you playing? Play time was quite limited last week, so mostly Yakuza 0. Not much to talk about, Too sleepy right now. :sleepy-face:

New week, new thread! What are you playing? Continuing Yakuza 0. I reached chapter 10. Going through side content right now. Catfights is one of the worst minigames I have ever played. Purely luck-based RNG to win? Nagoshi what was wrong with you.
New week, new thread! What are you playing? I've been feeling under the weather lately, so didn't play much except Yakuza 0. Unlocked Cabaret Club side quest which is nice. Hopefully I'll feel better this week so I can put more time into gaming. 🤞
New week, new thread! What are you playing? Continuing my journey of 100%ing Judgment. Managed to finish all Mahjong-related tasks last week. Going to learn Shogi as well as diving into the arcade machines soon. I'm bad at fighting games so the Virtue Fighter and Fighting Vipers tasks are intimidating. Also restarted Yakuza 0. Currently progressing the opening chapters. I love all the neon lights in the overworld. Vibe is top-notch.

New week, new thread! What are you playing? I crawled back to Judgment after rage-uninstalling it. Feel free to judge me. Finished all the drone race tasks, and now only three Mahjong-related tasks left. :D Also started playing Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed. Very wacky game. Kinda want to visit the real Akiba again.

I'm not a leaker but I've had some people mention to me what the APU in Steam Deck 2 is going to be and ... it's not looking good. To put it in perspective, its going to be pretty similar to the Xbox ALLY X but with hw FSR4 support. Perhaps I'm reading this article wrong but it reads exactly like that: So Steam Deck 2 is going to launch with RDNA3.75 (RDNA4m) is what it reads like to me. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong. Which honestly would be great news! But its a bit deflating...
New week, new thread! What are you playing? I finished Judgment's main story last week, so I have been diving into the optional content. Managed to finish the champion cup of the drone race. It was fun but I'm never good at playing racing games. I could literally feel my blood pressure rising during the races. I will return to Marvel's Midnight Suns this week. Meanwhile, I re-started VA-11-Hall-A. Read some of it on the Switch 6-7 years ago but I didn't like the writing too much. This...
New week, new thread! What are you playing? Reached the final chapter of Judgment. Yes, I couldn't resist playing it during weekdays. Very addictive, and the story was on-point. Still thinking if I should go for 100% completion because I have absolutely no idea how to play Shogi and Mahjong. I might choose to finish the main story first and slowly chipping the rest away bit-by-bit afterwards.
