Anyone have good recs for a 1080p 144 hz monitor, preferably on the budget side? I'm going to be rocking this 1070 for a while, so I don't think pushing past 1080p is that realistic, but I need 144 hz in my life.
Maybe go through the G-Sync Compatible list Nvidia has as it probably ensures they have solid specs and good implementation of adaptive sync/freesync and narrow it down to the 1080p/144Hz stuff and check local prices. I did that when getting my 1440p monitor, I got the cheapest at the time 1440p 144Hz G-Sync Compatible and I'm pretty happy with it (AG241QX). It doesn't mean there aren't equally good/better stuff not on the list, they haven't tested all of em. G-Sync Compatible isn't real G-Sync but rather Nvidia caving to support regular adaptive sync/freesync monitors so they should be modestly priced without the proprietary G-Sync hardware in them yet with pretty good specs for Nvidia to name them Compatible with that capital C as they wouldn't tarnish the brand.

  • 27'' 4K UHD (3840x2160) Nano IPS Display
  • 144Hz (O/C 160Hz), 1ms(GTG)
  • NVIDIA® G-SYNC® Compatible, Radeon FreeSync2™
  • VESA DisplayHDR™ 600
Pretty sweet specs. Could be a game changer if the price is right.
Yeah, sounds good. But it's gotta be at least 1000€.
I'd really like ultrawide version of this, but it's likely in range of 2500€

Sadly too expensive for me :(

(Prices are based of previous versions of these monitors, could be more or less)

I really suck at fighting games. I'm in chapter 8 of Tekken 7 story mode on normal difficulty, and can't beat Heihachi with Akuma. Any good guides how to play Tekken 7 out there?

Utawararemono on Steam at last.

Mash buttons like crazy ;P

If you are using Heihachi, and assuming the story mode does not utilize older versions of characters, it might help to look up a basic Heihachi guide at least

EDIT: I could link to one that I found, but you'll want to know the terminology used, for example
1 - left punch (X)
2 - right punch (Y)
3 - left kick (A)
4 - right kick (B)

Should give you a starting tip on his useful tools at least.
In tekken one needs only to memorize maybe 12~20 actions for their preferred character.

Known for it's story/gameplay?

I know the series only because folks in the Falcom server I am in keep shilling it. It's supposed to be really good, but I don't know any details either (I'm generally not interested in stuff that isn't available on PC, but now that it is.... give it to me)

Release first game last? That makes sense.
Well the first game is not even on consoles from what I recall (I think they said some of the reason was because of the more mature content?)

But I would assume that they would need to put more work into it. These two games are much more recent and are just ports.

In the Steam descriptions of the games it evens says that they are finally returning to PC where the series started (I don't know too much about the series, I have both games for the Vita but never played them, but I would assume that a lot of Japanese VN style stuff that originated on PC has lost of lewd stuff? but was then toned done for consoles?) Once again I could be very wrong about this. (Fate says hello)

While the Utawarerumono sequels have overall worse story than the original game, they still are a decent read.
Don't treat them like a SRPG though, that part is just a bonus, the ratio of VN/SRPG is at about 95/5%
And PC-tan there's a remake of the first game on PS4/Vita, coming in English later this year.

I'd actually say that MoT is definitely way more of an SRPG than MoD, and it's actually a really fantastic SRPG in its own right. I'm excited to replay it already on PC - I loved my time with these two on Vita last year.

I thought that might be the case, but I was not 100% sure

Theswweet Maybe Aquaplus had a change of mind? Maybe we'll get Dungeon Travellers next?
DMM Games likely played a big role in why it happened. Since Aquaplus may not be interested in PC and well DMM Games is PC (I am not sure how long DMM Games has had their VN division?)

A little bit more info from Steam itself "ShiraVN is a team at DMM GAMES that produces quality English and Chinese localizations of Japanese games, primarily visual novels. " ??

DMM Games has been pushing to access people outside of Japan.

So Atlus was the one that published this stuff in the west correct? They also did DT as well?

So assuming that DMM is interested maybe DT will also make it to PC?
Is it possible for Valve to announce new hardware at CES?
Are they at CES? and if they did it could be the new Steam Controller? The AR thing with Apple, or some other VR stuff

At the very least it won't have the framerate tank to sub-15 fps during the battle scenes.

Is there a chance Valve announces new hardware at CES?
No, not at CES, whatever they have in the pipeline will be self-announced and self-promoted, they rarely go to any of this places, if they are, indeed, collaborating with any company in order to make some piece of hardware, yes, they will probably be in the form of a rep. or as co-developer but don't expect any presentation from them.

Also, their next piece of hardware won't be announced until, at least, a few months in 2020 (maybe April) so yeah, patience. :D

Almost grabbed Utawarerumono on PSN on several occasions since it's very cheap when it's on sale. Though it's the kind of game I love playing on Vita, I'll get it on Steam eventually.

It says in the documentation is supports playlist download, but haven't used it.

I have used it for single video extract with this:
Hmm lemme try that. I don't like software that use command lines, just gimme a GUI dangit!
Is the final stuff in your CODE meant to be the URLs?

Augmented Steam got a new meaty update :)

v.1.4.0
------
Integration with IsThereAnyDeal (BETA)
Added IsThereAnyDeal integration, which allows you to connect Augmented Steam with your ITAD account.
That way you can apply Augmented Steam's highlighting and tagging to games in your Waitlist and Collection even if you don't have them on Steam.

Furthermore, it allows you to import games from your Steam Library and/or Wishlist to IsThereAnyDeal, for improved accuracy (e.g. DLCs or unlisted games).
Currently this feature can only add titles, not remove them, so it's not the replacement for IsThereAnyDeal's integrated sync, but an addition to it.

Context menu
- Context menu option (requires new extension permission): you can select multiple context menu shortcuts which will show up when you select text on page and right click on it, including search in Steam or product key activation

Friends
  • Added button to invite friends to group
  • Added sorting options to friends page

Store
  • Tweaked style of regional prices so they are more readable. Also improved their behavior and settings
  • Improved price breakdown of packages
  • Improved DRM notice handling and DRM detection
  • Improved app page customizer
  • Fixed pagination of search page

Wishlist
  • Fixed wishlist empty for large wishlists
  • Fixed position of pricing info in wishlist

Market
  • Improved handling of market history
  • Fixed instant/quick sell throbber

Community
  • Added sorting to groups pages
  • Improved position of SteamRep info
  • Fixed missing custom theme options

Other new features
  • Improved achievements view in library
  • Added horizontal scrolling with mouse wheel option to more media boxes
  • Added back to top button to all pages
  • Minor visual changes and fixes
  • Multiple localization updates
  • Improved error handling

Played the first one (the R-18 one) back in the day but never touch the sequels. Will get it day one.

I would think the first game needs it more, but I do enjoy seeing this kind of work done for all older games none the less. Will need to see some side by side comparisons though, before jumping on it. Don't need any FakeFactory Cinematic mod nonsense

I think it does a pretty good job considering it's an 18-year-old game. Finished Mafia 1 with this mod (collection) two years ago.

Definitely gonna check out the Mafia 2 overhaul.
