It looks nice sure, but apart from that, there are already like 10 Far Cry games on steam
I mean, I haven't played any of the Far Cry games on Steam, but if I would I'd play the one with robo-dinos tbh ¯\(ツ)

I'm fucking tired of this kind of reactions, when consoles loose an exclusive, when a game on PC it's timed exclusive.... I SWEAR I'M TIRED.

People should enjoy more their life and worry less about if some others will be able to enjoy it too. This is why I'm almost done with the gaming fanbase, full of crybabies and manchildren that make a lot of noise yelling and screaming like fucking crazy for the stupidest things.

Yes, I guess I'm really done with seeing fellas like that AP twitter account or fanatics in forums. Play more games and stop being a cunt.

I'm so puzzled by those reactions.
Like, the other way around (PC "exclusive" -> console) most reactions seem to be the opposite - folks being happy for console peeps (example Hollow Knight)
Is this just confirmation bias from my side because I only frequent "sane" communities online? (basically just Meta and the Falcom discord with the cool people (there are different ones), never engaged much with reddit and twitter, etc).

I know, not completely comparable ("random indie" vs "face of console"), but still. If HL:Alyx would come out on PS VR2, do you think there would be the same fanatics having the weirdest meltdowns?

People having that kind of meltdown over a console game coming to pc should rethink their priorities because thats not a health attitude at all.

Actual Era post in the Horizon PC thread.

Era is weird, I know that there is a lot wrong there but I guess I don't look for types of threads, which is why when I see stuff like the "era takes* Twitter account, I wonder what is happening. On era some of the people seem rational but then you look a way for a bit and then they just sound out of it.

I know that there are a couple of people on there that do flip flop, like that whole death stranding thing and how one person in particular kept saying it would happen, Sony IP, Sony Game engine and all of these other things

I do agree that we should spend less time complain and also enjoy stuff like this and more time playing games (but more importantly making sure to write reviews for said games, since that helps them get noticed)

Weren't people on Era also saying something very harmful about a baby about a week ago or so?
By the way are there any news sites that all of you avoid?

I can assure you most of the PCVR community would love to see HL:Alyx expand to PSVR somehow with the new headset if that one is capable of giving a good experience.

It's not just that, it's about every kind of meltdown, some people really forget this is, for most, a Hobby and not a life way or something like that, being loyal to a brand is ok, I'm very loyal to Steam as a brand cause I trust it but really? a child's reaction? A MELTDOWN? no, never, it's a fucking hobby, not my priority, AND I FUCKING SWEAR ONE THING, IF I LOVE A GAME, I WANT EVERYONE TO BE ABLE TO PLAY IT.

In other more happy news, Asobo trademarked rats (black and white logos) probably for the sequel of A Plague Tale and I couldn't be happier, I mean, Focus x Asobo teaser was APT2 but this looks like something that will be shown soonish than I can imagine.

The best/worst thing about this whole situation is that the people having meltdowns aren't affected by this in any way whatsoever. They are getting depressed because people without Playstations will get to play more games. Their investment in the brand is that strong and that utterly, completely pathetic.

If Sony are gonna have a PSN launcher on PC, it better have PSN community features as in PS4. That'd be enough for me to use it.

In other things; did y'all alread forget how Devolver (rep) responded about their EGScloosy from last year?

I hope Alyx will release on PSVR2, more people needs to be able to play that game.

I would love for it to be on PSVR, but the technology is so inferior it won't work.

The problem with the other forum is, that it degenerated into a toxic trolling-sanctioned chamber with selective moderation. Especially the rampant toxicity is bad. And the moderation team seems like a revolving door of new faces, some of them I never heard of or seen before they became a mod.

can we please stop talking about other forums? (it's like the 15th time i'm asking ... PLEASE)
We are not living in a bubble lash, we can't close our eyes and pretend it doesn't exist. We can't just Voldemort Era and tiptoe around every issue in gaming because it is also talked about on Era and some of the issues with communities and communication is creeping up on Era.

We can talk about and quote Steam Forums, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook etc. Why is Era banned? That forum, is the most "aligned" to our own values and political leaning.

I know those extreme posts are the minority of silly people over there but we've both seen the kind of underlying opinion currents there. The normalization of company-first mindsets and pro-corporate, apologetic discourse.

To be entirely honest, they all seem really, really young. I really don't think that it's a good place to look to for sane reactions and opinions to PC things. I think we should just ignore it all (as Lashman is asking us to) but the gloating here isn't much wiser.

I was about to post something similar. I stopped caring about football because it just brings out the worst in people, you can't have a rational conversation, almost everyone ends up becoming a fanatic completely blinded by their bias. I just don't need that shit in my life.
With gaming it's the same. I've gotten to a point where I only browse Era for the news and barely scroll beyond the OP because reactions are always a shitstorm. It's jarring when at the end of a day full of dealing with real life shit and responsibillities you browse the net to relax and see people lose their minds over the most trivial shit. That's why I wrote yesterday that I just have to assume all this stuff is written by kids. Even here I see some people casually throwing around words like garbage and dogshit which just comes across as incredibly disrespectful to the developers and lowers the bar for discourse to rock bottom.
It's a shame and it's obvious that it's getting worse by the day.

When I'm playing a game I try to focus on the positive things, the amount of hard work that goes into them is always in the back of my mind and as someone who has been playing for 30 years I'm constantly grateful for how far we've come and never take it for granted. Maybe if the industry crashed and burned and games stopped being made outright, these fucking crybabies would be happier. The internet would definitely be a better place, that's for sure.

Hopefully it works out for them. They are going in with kind of a GTAV approach from last gen by the looks of it.

Release a couple months b4 new consoles come out. So they sell dozens of millions of copies from PC + PS4 + X1 + Stadia.

Then release new dlc/expansions and sell dozens of more millions of the complete edition to PS5 + XsX + PC + Stadia. maybe even a Switch pro version.

But none of it will work out if the game is a crashfest or shitty port. Or worse its mediocre in some way. They have to knock it out of the park. Worst thing is that the crunch won't be over once it releases. They than have to immediately work on patches for the game and dlc/expansions. Also a multiplayer mode? Yea man its about to be a very tough stretch for those devs. And they can't say no because expectations are sky fucking high for that game.

I don't think the reaction is completely unwarranted. Would Sony have funded the extremely long development of The Last Guardian if they couldn't show it off as an exclusive? Maybe, maybe not. Would Nintendo fund Bayonetta sequels? Would Netflix pay for The Irishman? But multiplat is the future of gaming and meltdowns over it is a bit much.

And while I don't exactly see meltdowns over it here, there are plenty of you who pretty much hate Tim Sweeney and the Epic Store because you can't play the games on your favorite launcher. Is that really much different? It's just games.

Don't do that "it's just a launcher" thing. Please. You know better. We hate their actions and intellectually dishonest justifications for it because of their consequences for the PC platform.

It's a cautionary tale for how fanboyism can make you look very stupid and a reminder of the type of people you might be engaging with on internet gaming forums. I see it as no different than posting a dumb tweet or Facebook post. I understand not wanting to complain about other forums but this isn't such a case. It's just something dumb that someone posted publicly. I don't see anything wrong with criticizing it and/or laughing at it.

I can't say I agree with you there.

"Hate" is too strong a word, but yes, I will never drop a single cent on the Epic Store.
But allow me to say it, your generalization about the reasons people have for disliking timmy and his store don't take into consideration some of things they have been doing.
You are treating things as if people have some fanatical "allegiance" to a store or platform, when at least, and I speak for myself, that couldn't be farthest from it. I buy games on Steam, GOG, Origin, Uplay, itch.io, Humble, as direct downloads from developers, and many other places.

But no, I won't buy from the Epic Store. And no, it's not "just games" for me.

I have dropped my hard-earned money on several crowdfunded games, with the explicit promise of getting these games in certain fashion, only for timmy to celebrate deals close to launch, fully aware he would be pissing off backers, in order to get some more people to use his client.

Naturally, like I do any time a company treats me poorly, provides me with poor service, or goes against my interests, I'll avoid them like the plague.
That's my reason for "hating", and not using, the EGS.

So, while I understand part of the point you're trying to make, don't tell me "it's just games", or ask me "if it's really much different" from a few console exclusives.
My principles are still worth something, and I'm not willing to do anything just to play a fricking videogame.

Additionally, I don't remember Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft/Valve/E.A./... pulling crap like this.
I backed hundreds of games, and I was never deprived of playing games I paid for because any of the companies above came and paid in order for that to happen.

The Netflix example is out of place, that's a prestige project that is more intended towards the industry than it is to the public, they're losing money in order to establish themselves as the go-to producers for prestige directors who want to make something for a streaming service, now that a lot of other services are being launched. I can understand the idea behind The Last Guardian but I believe that nothing would change. Regardless of them making exclusives or not, Sony Entertainment is still one of the biggest brands in the entertainment industry and they have to keep that status. Microsoft has funded Ori even if it's a multiplatform title, the same applies to EA with stuff like Unravel or Fe or Ubisoft with Valiant Hearts or Child of Light. They're low-risk prestige titles to support their brand. The same happens with TV channels, FX produced The Americans even if it was losing money because both the audience and the critics said it was an amazing series: you can now stream that on Netflix, on FX online, purchase a Blu-Ray or rent it online, but FX is still remembered for producing it.

Epic is much different. They are not producing games that wouldn't exist otherwise, they're adopting a disruptive strategy to lock games that would exist either way in a single store, taking away every other choice.
