What? But Bravely Second released some years ago. Is it a new game or a port?
Well, in my understanding Bravely Second is more like Bravely 1.5 and this is now Bravely II proper.
But you are trying to make sense of the numbering of a franchise called Bravely Default, this is your big mistake :pleasedblob:

I wonder how much a Bloodborne will sell on Steam (if releases there). How many copies in 1 month?

It's still confusing to me seeing Beat Saber on 2019 lists because I put it on my 2018 list. I still adamantly believe these games should only be considered in the year of their commercial release, It makes making a GOTY list a chore and confuses the discussion.

I'm glad I didn't submit GOTY here because I would have put Boneworks as my VR GOTY, because I consider Beat Saber a 2018 game, and I prefer Beat Saber.

Anyways, I don't know how anyone can maintain a decade list unless they have some major event happen on Jan 1st. Last night I was thinking a bit on what I would put on my GOTD list, wondering if the decade actually was even that good for games (IMO, not so much), and struggling to remember the release dates of games along with their precise impact on my enjoyment. I hesitate to even mention one title because I'm pretty sure I'll be forgetting some even more significant title but I'll say XCom Enemy Unknown would be on there.

I gotta disagree here. I mean, there's room for discussion regarding Early Access as a whole, but I don't think there's a good reason to exclude games that leaves Early Access.

Early Access titles can release one year and not be anything special during its first year, but through continuous updates gets better until it reaches 1.0. So for Early Access titles, you'd need to be successful within its first year to ever be considered in GOTY-lists, which of course has its difficulties.

I think Early Access can be considered for both its initial release and final release, because there will never be a standard when it comes to this. Some Early Access titles are amazing as soon as they drop and others go from 0 to 100 during the course of five years. I think they both deserve their opportunity to be featured in any GOTY-list.

I'm still bitter at Anthem. The concept of the game is literally the game for me. What a massive disappointment.

Im not sure if it short, standard or long time, but it has taken me 7h15min to reach the second palace (Madamre) in P5.
Do you use a guide?

About 10. Old games didn't sell :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-winking-eye:

Sounds fair. I'm sad at the lack of Outward but I get that it's a very niche game with a budget that would make any game on that list fall over laughing :p.

Numbers are so hard. I guess that's why the 6th GTA is called 4, or the 5th Assassin's Creed is 3.

That sounds like overthinking it though. It's ok if your GOTD list is just close enough or a bunch of favorite name drops. It's not a big deal.

Also I think the last decade was the greatest 10 years in the history of games. The huge blowup of smaller indie games was key to me, along with the new distribution systems (Steam, XBLA, etc) that made it possible. Kickstarter has its bumpy rides, but it made possible so many legendary games that it's hard to even guess as to how many never would exist without it. Computer hardware really matured a lot over the extremely expensive for marginal improvement days of 2000-2010. VR became a legit thing after being more of a joke in the decades before it. Emulation made unbelievable strides, to the point that we have usable emulation of an in-production console (Switch). Here at the very tail end of the decade we have MS and (maybe) Sony breaking away from the walled garden approach a little. And games are so plentiful and cheap at this point, that most people think it's a nuisance!

Shame about LIS2, but after the turd that was LIS1 I can understand people not giving the sequel a try. it's a shame, since it improves on LIS1 in every way, mostly by not having shit protagonists

Top 5 was pretty similar to mine (I would never have voted for DMC V) but I have to bemoan the fact that a PC place didn't pick total war three kingdoms anywhere in the top 10 and mediocrity like jedi fallen order and RDR 2 gets picked instead :cryingwhyblob:

No.

Most of the time things are pretty straight forward for me.
It'll get really complicated later after the first palace because you need to your time management right to level up your proficiency and confidant level.

Ooh, this looks promising, very Thief-like but also completely different. I had no idea New Blood Interactive (Dusk, Amid Evil, Maximum Action,) is involved!
I wasn't aware of Gloomwood! That looks real good so far
