I have been convinced for some time that the user reviews hate is partly fueled by journalists. They can’t cover everything and the reviews shows that ultimately, they aren’t needed, that the formula can work without traditional press.
So you point finger at the couple hundred review bombs while turning a blind eye to the thousand legit and useful ones.

I just can’t wrap my head around the people that really believe that shit, who think user reviews are void because of the bad ones. It shows to me an INCREDIBLE lack of faith in people’s judgement. And I think that ultimately it tells a lot about these people.

Disclaimer - number of reviews out of my ass / while the first sentence is a little rough and
i can’t be arsed to rework it on a tablet at, uhh 00:28, it is not a gaming press hate posts.

Most of his VR complaints are already addressed, newer sets don't use up many ports and there are more affordable options and will likely continue to be.

But then he digs @ pc gaming as a whole with the cooling/cost so meh @ that. Takes a minute and a half with outdated misinformation to get to the game.

And no Boneworks isn't the first effort to do this or that, physics or story or optional seated play or whatever, that's just him being ignorant of other VR games.

Dude needs to go back to making cool video games like Trilby: The Art of Theft and _ _ _ Days a _ _ _ _ _ _ and leave reviews to others if he's gonna phone it in.
I feel like that's more the 'jokes' and the 'jokes' are a means of getting the skeptics to tune in and not check out. Honestly I think it's pretty smart, because if you just say, 'hey VR is fantastic just buy it now or you're stupid' is just going to make people turn away.
I love tech demos but what with how Unity, Nvidia, and Epic mostly refuse to release 90% of their tech demos suggests these probably require specs beyond what they're letting on, and of course they're built so to-the-metal they couldn't even supply a container capable of running it, let alone a single driver version or OS.

I really miss how in the old days you'd just download one of these or the awesome looking Nvidia superhero RTX demos and actually see it on your PC.

That's my point. With all due respect to Durante, it wasn't his job and it's not a stretch to say that they owe him a debt of gratitude for a large part of the IP's popularity to this day. Without DSfix, I think the picture for souls games might look a little different. The fact From never patched DS1 is loathsome to me.
To be fair, it only took him 23 minutes, which is less than your typical Anime episode.

Too bad they never gave keys for that 25th NEOGEO humble bundle. Will have to give it a try when they go on sale.

Always use Steam user reviews as a rough compass. Yes, there are useless ones but there's always more useful ones on the store page. So, I rarely need to browse further.
The color coding also helps. There are very few "negative" games I ended up enjoying. The mixed ones usually are better than I expect.

That launcher is supposed to go in hand with their subscription service to give monthly access to the expansion content. I haven't been reading the thread so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but yes, Paradox are doing a sub service because they have just realized people are put off by their DLC strategy, feel like they are missing out if they don't own everything, so they stop buying/playing the base game.

I don't mention this much (ever really) but I really don't know what is happening on era and frankly don't care. Would love if people just moved on. I assume some of you still post there, that's fine, I have nothing personal against anyone here or there, but a lot of the stuff that comes up is some carry over drama we can do without.

I got perm'd there for saying that moderation was a joke, and initially I didn't want to join here (again, nothing personal) just because I kinda saw where the wind was blowing, i.e. we were splintering due to their terribly policed forum and the only result of me coming would be harboring resentment. I didn't want to join to just complain all day about another forum. But then I saw people were actually more interested in getting news and talking about PC so I did join and I don't regret it.

To me, communities always have these issues. I was a mod at a local forum for many years and I understand cliques, etc. I don't know who banned me over there and I don't blame them or care really. Era isn't a guy's site like gaf was, it was a community site, so when you give fanboys and cliques those powers, they go power hungry and make dumb decisions just like I did when I was younger and had them. I obviously miss communities like the Path of Exile one (not many of them moved here if at all) but I don't miss "era" because era was nothing. It's just a place we decided to go because we knew each other already and the value was always in the posters. The site has always been a mess of fanboyism and brand warring.

Again, I have nothing but good things to say about the community here. I hope I'm not offending anyone or anyone feel like I'm telling them what to do. I promise this is the only time I will ever give an opinion on this because it's frankly not worth it. So yeah, kinda contradictory, don't really care but also if you want to post about it it's fine.

I think we jsut have better things to worry about like Paradox fucking starting a sub service for their expensive ass DLC.

Cheers

I've "tried" to play Jalopy yesterday. I couldn't even make it through the tutorial because of the bugs. After a bug that occurred when attaching the wheels to my car, I couldn't pick up anything anymore. So I saved the game and loaded it again, but that didn't work either because I had to start all over again. My response: right-click --> uninstall.

You all need more DQ in your lives.

I do wish that Fangamer would restock that one DQ shirt but I doubt that will be happening.

Also it is nice to see that DQB2 was one of the best selling new releases of December. I wonder how many copies it will sell within a years time. So far people (myself included) seem to really like the game.

Now that my copy of DQV arrived (I wished that I had purchased it 3 years ago, since I think it was about $20-$30 USD cheaper back then).

And because I do need some variety I will also try to play through the Half Life games and before the release of HL Alyx.

The money I was planning on spending for the Utawarerumono bundle is going into 2 copies of Temtem instead (for me and for my sis, at first I was gonna wait for the full version, but may as well get it while it has the cheaper early access price + gmg discount). xd

Utawarerumono, I don't mind the 30fps lock, but the 720p lock is a big no even for my low standards (I bought KT's Atelier ports after all, even those that max out at 1080p).

Oof, hadn't been keeping up with news of the ports. I didn't realise that were that bad. Welp. Thankfully I've played them before and don't feel the need to grab another copy anymore.

If it wasn't for the 720p lock, seems like they would have been okay ports...
That's my primary deal breaker as well but 30FPS lock is also very unfortunate. I'm glad we're getting ports at all but they need a little more effort for me to want to spend $48.40 ($56.95 rrp) for each. The Atelier ports are barebones but even they're not that barebones.

Yesterday I finished Spyro 3 (117%). So I'm done with the trilogy. I had never played any of these 3 spyro games (In fact the only one I ever played was a PS2 game, can't remember the name, that I barely remember a thing about it).
The games were pretty great for the most part (except some minigames in the third game).
I've finished Spyro 1 and 2 so far, The "follow Hunter" style flying orbs sucked asssss.
Just started 3 for a bit, so far I've seen the skating minigame. Not great, not terrible. Also other playable characters was a big surprise. In my mind I played all the 3 first Spyro games back in the day, but now that I'm playing these remakes, I think I only really played the first one for any significant amount.

yeah Spyro 1 and 2 were great, I've never played them on psx, only played an hour of 3 so far. I like how Spyro keep the skills he learned each game and each game wasn't so long, so it basically felt like a giant game in 3 parts.

can't say I enjoyed crash bandicoot 1 as much though, I enjoyed it enough to complete it but didn't really go for 100% and didn't feel like playing the sequels yet even though I heard they're better games.
