I have a 1070 regular and generally play at 1080p@120Hz, sometimes 1920x1200@60hz if the game looks good in 16:10.

I dunno what people were expecting from WC3 Reforged, after seeing it Blizzcon twice it came out basically as expected. Very little change except higher quality models. That's basically all I expected.

Of course all the custom game shit is broken and has bullshit EULA terms on it now. That custom game stuff was the Wild West before and there is no way blizzard was interested in hosting a copyright infringement playground. DBZ Tribute is broken? Pimp My Mario doesn't work? No shit, what did you expect? Both those rights holders are litigious as fuck. I'm honestly shocked no one sued them before now with all the porn and other stuff in those old WC3 custom maps. So of course half the reason for doing this update is that it allows them to prevent that stuff. I'm not happy they did it but anyone who didn't see it coming is just willfully ignoring the signs.

You know a game is HUGE when it gets an steam banner on main page 4 days after release. :coffee-blob:

I see Valve is doing a better job at promoting non "AAA" Japanese games than Sony.

I don't think TemTem could overthrow Pokemon (in the short term) like some are arguing. But the scathing defense force of pokemon die-hards who hate it just for existing is eye-rolling.

Stardew Valley was also belittled and laughed at by Nintendo fans at first.

Most Nintendo fans are pretty toxic when it comes to defending their core franchises in my experience.

Ok, apparently I just copied/pasted the folder on the new SSD with the same drive letter and steam had no problems!

Also, did capcom fix the monster hunter issues? I was thinking about reinstalling the base game

Capcom have released a few patches. I never had issues, but supposedly they fix them.

Downunder.
What GPU does everyone have? What resolution do you play in? Curious.
I have 2x1080Ti in my main rig, native resolution 2560x1440 @144Hz, but I'd like to downsample from 5180x2880 whenever possible.
In the living room rig, I have a 980 to drive an ancient LCD TV in 1980x1080 native, 60Hz.
In the bedroom, I have a Steam link to stream from my living room rig to my bedroom TV (another ancient 1080p) so I can read VNs in bed.

Since a few posts were talking about Nintendo, and some of their more fanatical fans, I can't resist posting a funny image I saw comparing SEGA to Nintendo:

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I owned SEGA and Nintendo consoles all my life, but the Wii and the 3DS were my last Nintendo consoles, because in a way I felt like the above image was very much true. Their output is no longer what I wanted.

I kept waiting for a new F-Zero. Or for games like Captain Rainbow and Giftpia to be released outside of Japan. That's what I wanted to play on Nintendo consoles. Instead, I got more Mario games (and I personally feel the series peaked with Super Mario World), and Zelda (a series whose 2D entries I frankly prefer, compared to the later 3D games; I know most people disagree, but that's my preference).

For a company that is frequently quoted as an example of creativity, they sure like releasing very similar sequels, or enhanced ports, from a couple of their IPs, over and over again.

Sensational memes are never true though. PS3 has no games, the chalkboard stuff made for any system, etc. SEGA has had its mainstays like Sonic which is somehow excluded. What company doesn't have mainstays if they can ensure their continued success? You can be sure plenty SEGA one-offs (or more than one, less than many) would have sequels had they been more successful. And the same goes for all the Nintendo one-offs (or similar) that are excluded from the chart because they don't fit the narrative. Kinda how Nintendo got them to do sequels to their Bayonetta SEGA was unwilling to do on their own? It's a cop out to say hey look at this, it's not serious, it's funny, and then turn around and say you felt it was true, to any degree. Not being the output you want for any reasons, which is fine, doesn't equate to being that output alone and it's completely different points to claim one or the other. I'm disappointed (the Nintendo posts you likely refer to I didn't even bother responding to because they were that far off the mark and haters gonna hate and I hoped they're the exception).

Indeed, Sonic is obviously excluded from most later generations.
I think the point of that image is that SEGA had plenty of different IPs every generation, while Nintendo focuses on the same handful, releasing not only an extensive number of sequels, but also ports of older titles, and on top of that they also keep featuring the characters of these very same titles on sports, racing, fighting, and other miscellaneous titles.

Personally, I find too it much.
Again, don't get me wrong, growing up I always had both SEGA and Nintendo consoles, so I like both companies.

But, I look at the number of SEGA IPs at any given generation, and their offering is much more diverse.
Even on the Dreamcast, despite the short lifespan of the console, they had a ridiculous number of awesome games and new IPs, probably more than Nintendo releases on several generations combined.

The last console I own whose catalogue I really loved was the Nintendo DS. I had hundreds of titles.
But, when I look at the titles I liked, how many were Nintendo's? Not many. And how many were new IPs? Even less so.

EDIT: I noticed you updated and changed the content and tone of your post while I was making mine.

It seems you feel somewhat "offended" by the image I posted, which I can assure you it was not my intention, and it was not to initiate an "anti-console" discussion.
What literally happened is that I saw someone mentioning Nintendo, I had twitter open, and I saw this image, which I found funny:

And, as a follow-up I did post my opinion. Sorry, I don't feel like I was disrespectful, I just posted my opinion, and the reason why I stopped buying their consoles.

But, I repeat, I own all their consoles since the NES, up to the 3DS, and hundreds and hundreds of their titles, so surely I'm someone who enjoyed their output.
It's just that what they currently release it's not what I look for. The sequels I would want they won't do. The original titles that interest me never leave Japan. That's how I feel.

Again, this is purely my opinion, and not in any way an attempt to antagonize the people who feel differently.
I know plenty of you own a Switch, so I would naturally never resort to "mock" those who feel otherwise, and continue to enjoy their output.

Cheers

I only had SEGA with two Nintendo exceptions, Game Boy & Wii and one Sony exception, the PS1. Which doesn't mean I'm less informed about or interested in some of their output of course. I'm not even a fan of some of Nintendo's heavy hitters like Mario Kart. That doesn't make that meme true at all. Yes they have mainstays. No they don't only have those. Plus it's silly to ignore the creativity and quality within the mainstays (unlike Sonic), Like, no, playing Ocarina of Time doesn't mean I'm now so tired of that formula that Breath of the Wild which barely uses it doesn't seem cool. Liking the rest of the output or not is a different point. I'm not trying to convince you to like games, I'm pointing out that showing a handful of mainstay IP is not fully representative of their creative output.

Nintendo has issues with making samey stuff, but they do not farm them every year to be fair.
There's quite a few years between entries (except maybe Kirby - and it does suffer from that); the bigger problem is the quality consistency. Some franchises like Yoshi or Starfox had one or two good games, and a lot of mediocre to bad games.
Hell, even flagships like Zelda have massive stinkers.

But not because they constantly reuse them.

On the other hand Sega has tons of awful games in their popular franchises, but also bleed them for all they're worth until it doesn't sell and nobody cares, Sonic first in line.

The one thing common to both is a mountain of franchises that haven't been used for decades (if maybe for their name or a cameo).
And since the're incapable of making the games themselves, we can only hope for good studios to be put in charge. And I would add that Nintendo has giant ongoing issues, when you see the results of their partnership with Platinum on Starfox zero, or how they made a Ubiclone out of Zelda.

But hey, maybe 1 2 Switch, Arms and Nintendo Labo is what we can expect out of modern Nintendo EPD. Talk about a fall from grace in the last few years. Creatively bankrupt, with only gimmicks and shoddy games in mind. Miyamoto would be proud, he and his Pikmin 4 "close to completion" five years ago. But let's not call them lazy devs! I'll call them incompetent hacks, nosy figure heads getting their hands on projects they shouldn't approach.

Wait, what's wrong with Bayonetta?

It's sweet they keep funding games destined to not sell close to their mainstays like Bayonetta, Xenoblade and No More Heroes if you ask me but whatever.

I'm dropping the topic, this is a Steam thread, maybe Nintendo hate twisting reality to suit a narrative can be its own thread and I can ignore it easier.

Platinum made Bayonetta themselves.
With Nintendo's "help", they made Starfox Zero. The shittiest entry in a franchise that was already in bad shape.

Now that my backlog is nearing completion, I'm considering playing an MMORPG for the first time in years. Which of these is the cheapest, least grindy, and most solo friendly to get into?

  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Final Fantasy 14
  • Guild Wars 2
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic

I'm open to alternative suggestions as well.

cheapest are elder scrolls, guild wars and Star Wars... cause FF14 is the onyl one with monthly payment

And all of them are regarded highly

but what I have heard over the years, FF14 might be the bset of those

(disclaimer, I played all of those, but none longer than 5 hours)

I really think its down to personal taste of the setting

The most solo friendly is Guild Wars 2. You can go anywhere and join any group activity without having to party up. Everyone gets their own share in participating everything in the game. The grindy part about it is only about fashion. If you don't really care about unlocking them, you'll be able to wear top end gear in no time after reaching the level cap.

Hey, I have the same mouse but mine is in blue. What's going on here?

Also, is Temtem fun? I bought it the other day but didn't install it yet.
Hmm that is a G502, the very first version, I don't know if there is a blue version of it.

Temtem is fun and really hard compared to Pokemon.

Just saved mankind from the machines in Terminator Resistance, and man was a that lot of fun. My only real complaint aside from the dead obvious twist being guessable from the get-go is the stiff/unrealistic facial animations. Man, now I want to go back in and try my hand at modding it here and there.

Hopefully Reef and Teyon make more of this, as a fan, it'd got me wanting more.

Maybe I should play that. I was lamenting the lack of single player fps earlier today.

The devs of Gujian did end up removing the online DRM in the second game after a few years.
It's possible.

If you wanna go through literally hundred of hours of main story quests, go with FF XIV

the last expansion enabled going into dungeons on your own, with AI mates

The most packed mmo in terms of questing is ESO. Personaly i can never stick to it because of the combat but the amount of content is absolutely ludicrous

SWTOR is basically a single player game with other people around. You'll get more than enough experience to level up to max just doing to the main story quests, ignoring the side ones. Your AI companion/pet is super powerful and will heal you through any fight with ease.

Nintendo churns out a lot of sequels, but somehow I buy a lot of them anyway. I ended up buying the new Mario, Mario Kart and Smash and then later selling them again because it was just more of the same. They're good but boy do I feel like I've played them to death already. Meanwhile, Breath of the Wild is my only physical NSW game left and I got that at launch. Justified the price of the system on its own! If only Steam Link would be dropped on the damn thing, I would be set until its EOL.
