Or they could become The Division Bell and be Pink Floyd's best album. That doesn't really mean much. I mean, if I applied your statement systematically, I can't trust them to keep their games called The Division and it could become The Multiplication!
I need Midtown, Monster Truck and Motocross Madness back in my life, along with Crimson Skies and Pandora's Box (never got the full version). I hope they are rereleasing all of these someday. There's an entire back catalogue of MS titles from the 90s and early 2000s that arent available anywhere that I would love to see them put a team on. Imagine, for shits and giggles, MS re-releases Fury3? Why the fuck not? It was a win95 showcase game and gog has shown those games will sell (and I assume they own the rights to it at this point, not whatever became of Terminal Reality).
Or any of the Madness series of racing titles. They've a gold mine of legacy titles they could prop up and use to funnel in nostalgia cash.
I'm at an age where disposable income shouldn't be an issue, but it is...For me VR looks like legit interesting tech that simply doesn't fit into my lifestyle.
I'm at an age where the disposable income to finance the hardware is not an issue at all. But the barriers inherent to the tech simply make it unappealing at this stage in the game. Stuff like sensory deprivation, completely "checking out" while using the gear. Just not for me.
It kinda reminds of those wicked-cool racing setups some hardcore enthusiasts have. Complete wheel/pedal/shifter setups with racing chair & screen bolted to a cage. Looks not only incredible, but also incredibly immersive. Yet...I have to take a pass as it's not a fit for my life.
Perhaps as VR tech evolves it will pear down in size and have a lower barrier to entry (setup,etc.). It's already kinda getting there with the wireless factor in Quest. Maybe I'll revisit down the road when the scales tip on convenience and ease of use.
But for right now I won't be enjoying HL: Alex. And...I'm completely okay with that. I'm not the target audience and if the insane popularity of Sony's samey AAA Prestige 3rd Person Sandbox-Action-Adventure titles have taught me anything, not everything has to be.
You sure you wanna open that can of worms?Or they could become The Division Bell and be Pink Floyd's best album.
I've been married for a long time.^^^ Pro-tip: Marry UP.
Seems you need to marry more.I've been married for a long time.
I wasn't gonna say anything, but I don't recall ever hearing anyone going to bat for DB. At least in the Best Of sense. You sure you wanna open that can of worms?
I thought that until i got mine but honestly its easy enough to just take off the headset and do what you need to do and then return. I also find that the most social gaming ive done in the last few years is VR gaming. Just having people over to mess about in it is great (and those spectating get to see the displayed image on the TV so its fairly inclusive).Yeah that's what holds me back from VR too - it just doesn't make sense for how I play games. I can't be wearing something and be that distracted from what's going on around here. I like to be able to check out for a little bit, then pause, do some other stuff, come back to the game in a bit. VR is asking me to commit too much I think. Also I think I'd feel silly whirling my head around while nobody else in the room can figure out what the hell I'm looking at, so it kind of won't work for the casual social aspect of games.
I do wish I could borrow one just to mess around with HL.
That's interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about having people come over to watch my VR porn though.I thought that until i got mine but honestly its easy enough to just take off the headset and do what you need to do and then return. Cockpit games are wonderful in that regard. All of the immersion with none of the interaction requirements. Embrace the space-sim renaissance! That's interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about having people come over to watch my VR porn though.
Honestly being long accustomed to being hunched over a keyboard or with a controller and not used to a headset is probably a huge factor for me. Something about not being able to just easily glance at my other screen, or at my notepads, or a book or my lunch or whatever though ... maybe I do too many things at once.
I won't fight anyone for Floyd, nope. I will fight anyone who says Bee Gees are a disco band, however. And by fight I mean play a few Tetris rounds while listening to Mr Natural or Living Eyes or This Is Where I Came In or High Civilization or Size Isn't Everything or Life In a Tin Can.You sure you wanna open that can of worms?
I'm not a fan of The Wall, I kinda prefer The Final Cut. Animals is great indeed, the intro and end of "Sheep" are wonderful.I wasn't gonna say anything, but I don't recall ever hearing anyone going to bat for DB. At least in the Best Of sense.
Kinda cool to see a diverse choice that isn't Dark Side, The Wall or WYWH.
I'm more of an Animals guy myself, but even that one is a pretty popular pick for Best.
I played it on a base PS4 and it runs pretty well, yeah.Hearing that FF7R is well optimized on consoles is really nice. Hopefully that means when it's on PC even mid end PCs can run it at 60.
Then again it is Square Enix....
Bee Gees may not be disco, but damn Saturday Night Fever is the best licensed movie soundtrack of all time. Like it's not even close.I won't fight anyone for Floyd, nope. I'm not sure I want immersion! Doing all day long hauls in American Truck Sim, pissing into an empty 2 liter bottle and tossing it out the open window of my camper down by the river. That's where VR leads.Cockpit games are wonderful in that regard. All of the immersion with none of the interaction requirements. Embrace the space-sim renaissance!
Even if I, bleeding and babbling will fall on your neck with a scream?Bottom line is that if you're into Pink Floyd you're alright in my book.
I will most likely do it, but I will watch at twice the speed at least all of the shootings, so it won't take 15 hours. I have watched yesterday's videos at normal speed and at twice the speed (to check whether there were some compelling elements for me, besides opening the doors in various ways), and it is not an issue. If Youtube lets me set the speed to 3x, I will do it for most of the videos.I wonder if the people saying they are gonna watch Alyx on YouTube will actually do it. It's somewhat difficulty to watch a VR game that is heavy on interactivity as there are probably story based elements that require interactivity that the YT viewers won't see/be part of.
So they are actually gonna sit and watch on YouTube for 15+/- hours, And it's not like there are any cutscenes it seems either.
testing for copyright issues, revenge-porn, actual rape, underage actors, etc. I can see why Valve doesn't want to touch that with a ten-foot pole.
I have been wondering as well. I remember he posted a few times that he was getting increasingly annoyed by the current direction of PC gaming, and might spend his money on other hobbies. Maybe that day has come.Did FunktionJCB abandon us?
I'll take a wild guess, one year after ?So..... this is a really interesting date, isn't it?
March 17, Divisions 2 coming to Stadia.
Well nothing wrong with taking a break and doing other stuff. Hope he's not gone, gone though.I have been wondering as well. Sounds super boring to me, I have problems watching a 1 hour video on YT unless it's a really interesting documentary, watching 15 hours of head bobbing* sound horrible, to me at least.I will most likely do it, but I will watch at twice the speed at least all of the shootings, so it won't take 15 hours. thats not what i meantStadia but not Steam ? Ubisoft's stellar business acumen.
Disgusting
I have problems watching 1 minute long videos.... and in fact I usually don't.I have problems watching a 1 hour video on YT
If it is like the videos posted yesterday, then it is fine, no?Sounds super boring to me, I have problems watching a 1 hour video on YT unless it's a really interesting documentary, watching 15 hours of head bobbing* sound horrible, to me at least.
*VR gameplay on video is a lot less smoother to watch than normal flatscreenm gaming imo, so I call it "head bobbing", it's a reason why capturing VR gameplay is difficulty as it doesn't mirror what the player is actually doing all the time
Depends on how representative the videos IGN and Valve posted is how people are playing. If it is like the videos posted yesterday, then it is fine, no?
I've been toying with the idea of buying a cheap wheel to try it out with some racing games and Euro Truck Simulator 2.It kinda reminds of those wicked-cool racing setups some hardcore enthusiasts have. Complete wheel/pedal/shifter setups with racing chair & screen bolted to a cage.
Right. I would have to find the right streamer for it, which might not be that easy.Depends on how representative the videos IGN and Valve posted is how people are playing.
I suspect a lot of people will use a lot of time simply to just fuck around due to the interactivity so it might me more difficulty for someone viewing on YT to follow the story and what's happening around the player than it is for the one who is playing.
The reason Im writing about this is because I have seen a few VR walkthroughs to help me get through certain sections of a game and there were parts on the video that was missing and I didn't really understand what the player was doing so I just had to figure it out myself in-game after all.
But hey, it could be great and no problem with watching it, so Im kinda excited about how well VR capturing translates to YT viewing for Alyx,

I've been toying with the idea of buying a cheap wheel to try it out with some racing games and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
But almost all "good" wheels are €200+.
The ones I've been eyeing are about ~€50...
