Next gen over all is making me nervous. I wouldn't advise anyone to be an early adopter this time around, despite BC promises.I'm kind of worried now about some of the digital games I own on PS4 like God of War and Bloodborne. When I pick up a PS5 will those games just run at enhanced settings automatically or will they force me to buy additional versions of these games in order to see improvements.
It really sucks that its August and this type of information in unclear. The messaging for next gen consoles has been a mess. And this Control upgrade bs could set an awful precedent. No smart delivery but you can have dumb delivery.
20 years is a lot wow. Tell us how much trust/faith has put 505 Games on Remedy.
I don’t want to hear that I’m not professional at my job never againdigital bros subsidiary
The craziest thing about this next gen BC is that it is supposedly able to tell the difference between games eligible for smart delivery. And if its not eligible then the new consoles will just emulate vanilla settings from previous gen somehow? (I guess???). Or maybe it won't run the non eligible game at all. Its confusing. Its like an actual smart barrier that MS and Sony helped create to fuck over people at the discretion of the devs. Its really slimey and evil.Next gen over all is making me nervous. I wouldn't advise anyone to be an early adopter this time around, despite BC promises.
Paying to unlock resolutions is ludicrousI hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling Control won't be the last game to make Xbox SeX and PS5 owners to repay...
If that's what it takes to shake some people out of their apathy, so be it. After all, it's just business, right?I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling Control won't be the last game to make Xbox SeX and PS5 owners to repay...
I think some people appreciated the smaller download. I imagine big downloads can be troublesome in some parts of the world. The talk about piracy reminded me about game rips.
Wasn't that weird? You willingly ripped out movies, story, music, maybe even sound to get a smaller filesize. Talk about corrupting the game to experience the "gameplay".
Can you dream about Sakura Wars tonight please?Go to bed wondering why Control's Steam release still hasn't been acknowledged, wake up to the announcement. Cool! I was hoping for a complete edition with the DLC, so that's great to hear. Now let's see about that launch discount.
[UWSL]That's what I've done so far. Whether I actually turn to piracy will probably depend on shitty stuff becoming the norm or not. [/UWSL]Maybe just don’t play the game instead of pirating it? Plenty of other games out there to spend your time with.
I had no idea what that was so I watched a trailer and.... what the hell did I just watch???Can you dream about Sakura Wars tonight please?
Yes, pleaseCan you dream about Sakura Wars tonight please?
Don't ask questions.I had no idea what that was so I watched a trailer and.... what the hell did I just watch???
Who’s best girl and why Hatsuho?I had no idea what that was so I watched a trailer and.... what the hell did I just watch???
Completely agree about the upcoming gen -- releasing game consoles during a pandemic could have been a positive for both companies and people -- oh, excuse me, "consumers". But it's just been a wtf all around. Both MS and Sony should probably have delayed rather than continue with whatever this is.It really sucks that its August and this type of information in unclear. The messaging for next gen consoles has been a mess. And this Control upgrade bs could set an awful precedent. No smart delivery but you can have dumb delivery.
But still, you lost a lot of the experience when assets were missing from the games.I think some people appreciated the smaller download. I imagine big downloads can be troublesome in some parts of the world.
Nope. Especially on Xbox SeXI hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling Control won't be the last game to make Xbox SeX and PS5 owners to repay...
It is a business, don't expect nice things from large companies without paying them money. If they do something nice its because they want you to give them money, if they do it for free it because they want money from you later....... Hence why I'm not a fan of a large company but I like certain products and don't trust them moving forward. If that's what it takes to shake some people out of their apathy, so be it. After all, it's just business, right?
Oh damn, best case scenario then. I was expecting 505 to use the Ultimate Edition as an excuse to charge full price and was really hoping for a 50% launch discount like other EGS exclusives had. Definitely getting it day one!I just got the press release that Control Ultimate Edition is coming to Steam on August 27. It will include both The Foundation and AWE expansions for $40.
That's...an excellent price point IMO.
Prolly updated.
While NOT EXCLUSIVE is always the best route, this isn't terrible. Game is discounted plus two expansions.Oh damn, best case scenario then. I was expecting 505 to use the Ultimate Edition as an excuse to charge full price and was really hoping for a 50% launch discount like other EGS exclusives had. Definitely getting it day one!
You are preaching to the choir my friend, as others can attest I am one of the biggest proponents of treating every developer and publisher as a business and only caring about your interests as a gamer and customer. It is a business, don't expect nice things from large companies without paying them money. Is it 40$ + a discount?Oh, Control Ultimate is 40 bucks? Veeeeeeeeeeeery nice. It's a pity there's no way my rig can run it for now but hopefully I'll get the good coinflip with 505 regional pricing.
don't count on it ... it's probably gonna be even worse than Death Strandinghopefully I'll get the good coinflip with 505 regional pricing.
Do we know if Edge of Eternity has a target release date ?
It's also the last sale price before price increase this week[We still have 3 more chapters to deliver and we aim to do so within the next months. We intend to take advantage of the first days of 2021 to polish the game, work on our console versions and deliver a full game to everyone by next Spring.]”
Or because they actually want to do the right thing.Small teams and passion projects? They're engaged with the community because they have to be to survive.
Very well said Number One. When hundreds of thousands of people with hundreds of games in their library suddenly start talking about piracy, or refuse to buy a long awaited game for a full year, there's a problem with the industry, rather than with all these people.Regarding the issue of EGS and piracy. My personal choice is to not play those games at all or play them once they become available on Steam at a hefty discount. That is the value that I assign to those games. I have also said that people should do things that bring them joy because the world is a generally shitty place. So if you really feel like playing a game will bring you joy and make your life a bit better, I am not going to judge you for buying a game on EGS. I feel the same with piracy. I wouldn't do it and I don't condone it but I won't judge anyone for it because it is not my place to do so.
I will also not shed a single tear for developers and publishers that screw over their customers and then cry about lost sales. Piracy has been a largely solved issue on PC for many years now. If they want to risk making it in an issue again, that's their prerogative.
True. You are preaching to the choir my friend, as others can attest I am one of the biggest proponents of treating every developer and publisher as a business and only caring about your interests as a gamer and customer.
Ahhh..... I mean I think that for many small devs, its food first and right thing later. Fuck, I used to work for a Law Firm that dealt a lot with foreclosure suits, there were time when I thought "I'm working for an enemy" but realized that A: We're all getting used by everyone else B: Someone else would do it if not me/the Firm C: Most of the cases ended up in some kind of modification/repayment plan.Or because they actually want to do the right thing.
Honestly, the "it's just capitalism" excuse doesn't work for me if you want me to give you my money for an entertainment product. I'm not going to jump through hoops for some business unless they can make a more compelling argument than that.
reminded me of the article i read recentlz about some person on the high seas who till this day tries to repack games with best compression possible and rips additional stuff like langs and make them optionalThe talk about piracy reminded me about game rips.
the UE part is quite shocking to meThat said, these same companies could also learn from the success of repacks. According to xxx, publishers could take a lesson or two on effective compression, so customers don’t have to waste bandwidth.
“Hire just one person, who understands the compression,” is her message to publishers. “And make your games so they could be easily updated with additional patch-files, without full data rebuilding.”
“For example, Unreal Engine supports patching natively. But 99% of developers don’t use it. They just rebuild the whole game all over again and then users in Steam download another 50 GB update. Really, you even have the tools to do it for you, love your users, they PAY for your games!”
I was looking forward for this game, after all the debacle, I will be waiting to buy for under $20, won't pay more than that.Taken from Lashley from Era.
This has ‘humble bundle’ written all over it to meI was looking forward for this game, after all the debacle, I will be waiting to buy for under $20, won't pay more than that.
Charging the same on PC as the PS4 version is some bullshit.

That's actually pretty reassuring. Their previous PC work has been quite good in my experience, hopefully the underlying game is good enough on its own (magic8ball says outlook not good)Nixxes is behind the port IIRC
