Just for the record, I'm not one of the people wholly responsible for the creation of this place. I was asked my opinion on some things and offered it. That said, welcome to MetaCouncil, a different kind of forum!
First and foremost: This was created as an experiment, something different from your usual forum. It was created with the full knowledge it could crash and burn in a matter of weeks, especially once word got out to the people who would want to make it crash and burn just for the laughs or because they have nothing better to do. The whole idea started as a "What if there was a place where everyone was a mod, that everything was voted on by consensus as a group rather than dictated by a small subset of moderators".
The methodology isn't perfect, we're well aware there will be groups who will band together to abuse the rules and mechanics of the systems as they're established. That was figured out Day One, because let's be honest -- there are just too many people who can't act like rational mature adults. So, for those of you already thinking / saying the forum was going to go down in flames: Congratulations, so did everyone involved.
That said, we're not so exclusive that we're going turn people away at the gates just because of where they're coming from to join as members. Like any good experiment, this is a work in progress and we expect things to fail and need to be tweaked and changed as things go along. As Albert Einstein once said "Failure is success in progress", we'd like to see this progress.
Please, if there are any questions about the systems or how they will work, or any questions about the forum methodology in general pop in and ask a question or three. Those with more knowledge than myself will be watching the thread. Welcome, make yourselves at home.
So will this thing crash and burn like the Hindenburg?! Let's find out!
