And, I believe Nintendo only pays after you reach "x" number of copies sold (so, at least on the Wii, a number of indies never saw a single cent).I mean, I think on some systems, payments are still each quarter.

2 PM PacificWhen does this Xbox thing start today?
unfortunately this one is almost definitely going to be an exclusiveThese days I'm almost scared to say I'm looking forward to a game because who knows where it will be available, but Dying Light 2 is looking interesting, plus I had a good time with the first one.
See? And people complain when I'm too pessimisticunfortunately this one is almost definitely going to be an exclusive
Well it peaked on steam at 12K people. 20 minutes ago 1700 people playing. Dunno what constitutes a flop though. Ubi games go on sale usually fast though.50% after barely three weeks is telling though, there was too much competition on release day with Metro obviously being the main reason it got buried alive.
Perhaps. Or THQ Nordic. It's kind of useless to guess, it can be any publisher (except for EA I guess). Epic has billions to spend and exclusivity is their main strategy. I won't be surprised if the majority of games announced at E3 will be EGS exclusive on PC. They've only just started.Ubisoft I'd guess
and you know what's really sad about this? that they'll eventually winPerhaps. Or THQ Nordic. It's kind of useless to guess, it can be any publisher (except for EA I guess). Winning is a big word, but yes, Epic will find a way to become successful sooner or later. Many people hated Origin as well when EA pulled their games from Steam, but now almost everyone is used having multiple launchers. And while Origin exclusivity no doubt had a significant negative impact on games like Garden Warfare, Titanfall and indies like FE, EA is very successful with Origin Acess and Apex legends.and you know what's really sad about this? that they'll eventually win
they just will ... people have no self-control ... there will eventually be one game on there to break a lot of people, and they'll cave ... they pretty much only have to be doing this long enough to get "that one game"
also the fact that no one seems to give a damn about the long-term health of the PC market and what the stuff epic are doing is doing to that market
also the fact that the majority of people playing on PC really don't give a damn where they're playing their games ... i mean - yes, there are LOTS of hardcore PC gamers like us here ... but the PC market is HUGE, much much bigger than it used to be ... and it might actually be true (i'm pretty sure it is true) that most people REALLY don't give a fuck where they buy and play their games ... like, see how many fortnite players there are ... or how many players games like LoL etc. have ... maybe we really ARE the small minority
Looks amazing! Wishlisted!Truberbrook also out today
yeah, i suppose ... but still - it's kinda sad ... all of thisWinning is a big word, but yes, Epic will find a way to become successful sooner or later. You're also right that the majority of people don't care where to play a game when a game is attractive enough. Despite all the complaining and whining about UWP and the Windows Store, many people caved in for Sea of Thieves and many more will throw their money to Microsoft for Halo MCC. As a result, chances are huge that Microsoft won't even bother to open up UWP anymore, having a severe impact on the open nature of pc gaming in the near future. But I guess most people don't care about that either.
I guess incredibly successful games like LoL, PUBG, Minecraft and Fortnite has caught the attention of big companies who want their piece of the huge pc gaming cake. These companies don't care about us as PC gaming enthusiasts; they care about the millions of people playing PUBG and Fortnite, while spending ridiculous amounts of money on cosmetic stuff that is extremely cheap to create.
But as usual, a bunch of smaller companies and devs WILL care about us, and will keep delivering us the experience that we want. That's the huge perk of the pc as an open platform: people can do what they want - at least for now as long as Windows has native win32 support.
I've been noticing this, on comments around the internet.people have no self-control ... there will eventually be one game on there to break a lot of people, and they'll cave ... they pretty much only have to be doing this long enough to get "that one game"
Tbh, most people probably wouldn’t want the Steam version of FFXIV.I don't think that'd sit well with my own personal ethics.....
How can I justify selling my keys for $30~40? because let's be reasonable who would want a Play-online version of the game in 2019 when the Steam ver. is more than likely the BEST way to play the game now. Consider that the games have been cheaper than $10 per title before.
Oh, you are not the only one. I don't play any BR and yet I'm hoping that Apex starts the downfall of Fortnite. Probably not the most "noble" feeling but I don't really careI've never wished for a game to succeed quite as much as I'm wishing Apex Legends to become the greatest thing ever. An EA game!
It's a weird and conflicting feeling.
Wow, why's that? Seems pretty silly for S-E not to support it equally, then again this is S-E we're talking about....Tbh, most people probably wouldn’t want the Steam version of FFXIV.
Many of us who play typically advise against purchasing it there because it locks you into Steam forever, meaning you can’t get keys for expansions elsewhere. And the Steam version gets less sales than the standalone does.
Does the prospect terrify you? :Vnever
I have no idea why the Steam version is locked, it's pretty stupid. But many a person has bought the Steam version, then tried to get an expansion key on the SE store, Amazon, GMG, etc, only to find out it doesn't mix with their Steam version. Definitely annoying.Wow, why's that? Seems pretty silly for S-E not to support it equally, then again this is S-E we're talking about....
Happy Birthday! I also have a march birthday. Thanks to all you well wishers
BTW have you ever seen me blow up in a discussion? Because not doing that is how I feel any time I see all this anti-Valve BS.
Happy b-day in advance, or in case I forgot/forget ;3Happy Birthday! I also have a march birthday.
Prices of all components have come down again, graphic cards (after cryptoboom died), RAM falling, SSDs dirt cheap, CPUs in a good place with more fighting to come. Good time right now but we'll go lower before we're going up again, I'm certain of that. How often do you guys upgrade your PCs? I was thinking of upgrading or build a new one once I finish most of my backlog (which could take a year or two tbh), but I'm sorta worried GPU prices will increase even more somehow, so dunno if I should do it soon or not
Guess I won't have to worry about it when the time comes then. Honestly? I kept my previous PC for about... 10 years. How often do you guys upgrade your PCs?
personally, for me, metro was a big deal and no, there are not a lot of immersive fps games with sneaking, that are not immersive sims (and are sequels of already great games) releasing.Even considering Metro Exodus, and The Division 2, for each game releasing on EGS, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of worthwhile games releasing on Steam.
I had my PC for around 4 years now, guess maybe it's too early to upgrade now that I think about it, lol.Honestly? I kept my previous PC for about... 10 years.
The only thing I did to it was, after 5 years or so, my graphics card broke down, so I spend like 150€ to buy a new one.
I did not do any other upgrades in the meantime.
I have my current PC for about 2 and a half years, and unless something breaks down, I have no intention of upgrading any time soon.
I'm fine running games at 1080p. My monitor can't handle any better.
So far, I still can run pretty much everything I throw at it at maximum, or close to it (I sometimes have to reduce shadows a bit).
In a few more years, if I struggle to run games, I may consider upgrading my graphics card.
In general, whenever I'm not happy with performance anymore and prices are down. Last upgrade was a GTX 1080 when it was on sale, almost 2 years ago, I think. How often do you guys upgrade your PCs? I was thinking of upgrading or build a new one once I finish most of my backlog (which could take a year or two tbh), but I'm sorta worried GPU prices will increase even more somehow, so dunno if I should do it soon or not
I think so as well. TES6 exclusive (forever?) on the Epic store would break a lot of people.chances are very good that bethesda/zenimax is the publisher in question and a lot of people will break with ES6. imagine that
So far it's every 5-8 years as inevitably something comes out that my current rig won't play well and then it's a slippery slide until i feel the need to upgrade. I've just replaced my old i5-3570k, 16gb, GTX 1070 OC PC with a Ryzen 2700X, 32gb, RTX 2070 PC so i'm good for a few years. I saved hard for a while as i planned to upgrade last year but didn't, I'm now back to putting as much as i can into my savings each month. How often do you guys upgrade your PCs? I was thinking of upgrading or build a new one once I finish most of my backlog (which could take a year or two tbh), but I'm sorta worried GPU prices will increase even more somehow, so dunno if I should do it soon or not
Don't wait too long. Five years ago I told ppl to buy more RAM. Many fools ignored my wisdom and then cried salty tears when prices jumped up again. Timing is somewhat luck coupled with exprience but if you keep up with news and look at price trends you're good,Guess I won't have to worry about it when the time comes then. Thanks.
