My monitor then throws a fit because NO DISPLAY.
Restart computer.
Windows welcomes me with the sort of browser setting menu it usually presents after an update.

My new mouse gets here today. I was expecting it in a week, so that's a happy surprise. Elite Odyssey also drops this evening, and while I'm not buying it because screw that price point and content, I hope it will have more meat to it than I expect.

Although I'm a total animal and don't normally use a mousepad, I still have an original Amiga one that I use when I need to use the mouse left handed. I play racing games in a racing seat thingy I built which only has space on the left for a mouse.Mine is 12 year old because I keep trying to nurture new life forms. For science. Or sex.

I'd like a new mouse mat that's interesting but any mouse mat that isn't 2mm thick and jet black annoys me now. I've been spoiled by the logitec mat i got last year for my failed attempt to use a G503? ( or something like that ) Turns out that although i have small hands i need a chunky mouse so i'm stuck with my Corsair Ironclaw until i find another mouse of similar size that i like.
I have many mice that i haven't got along with, i think i use a strange palm grip. Ideally someone needs to make a Shark-Fin mouse for gaming like my Anker i use for work. It's saved my health and fended off RSI for the last 10 years, so it's winner in my book.

I strongly, strongly advise against buying anything expensive related to Elite unless you truly know for yourself that you like the game. There's a metric crapton to learn and figured out with the base game+horizons which you can get for really cheap to help give you a better idea of what you are into. Odyssey actually doesn't have all that much in the way of playable content from what I have gathered, which is why despite my enthusiasm for space legs (partial at least) I'm not paying through the nose for a graphical update that will trickle down this fall.Ok, just put my royal behind on the PC chair and already interested in Elite (5e), Elite DLC (22e) and Dorfromantik (8e).

Just curious as you are on point about the need to try the base game for cheap before doing anything more
- Stepping out of your ship and exploring small station social areas in which you can pick up contracts and gear up for FPS activities
- Stepping out of your ship onto planets and engaging in activities there, namely either missions related to bases or scientific scanning of flora
- A graphical update in the planetary rendering and generation with better height maps and the addition of light atmospheres. Ship lighting and shading has also been improved
There's also the fact that the alpha performed abysmally, and I'm quite worried about how hot the expansion is coming out of the oven. It won't have a beta phase (meaning, release is the beta) and Frontier has clearly been pushing it out early to satisfy shareholders from the looks of it.
It's a good step for Elite but I think it's priced too high and released too early, hence why I'm not buying it.
It's complicated, basically play multi in the starting areas but as soon as you are ready to get out of the training area, go solo for a little bit if only to make sure that you won't be ganked by assholes with nothing better to do. Those systems right next to the newbie area tend to be camped a little bit. In general, open is fine unless you are going to heavily populated areas like engineers, Farseer in particular.
I'm personally playing in a private group at all times, and I believe there's an even larger public group if you are interested.
