In other news I resumed my Wasteland 2 playthrough and I can safely say, after loving it, that I now hate it with all my guts. The game won’t end, it’s bloated as fuck, and now in the last part it just became extremely difficult.
Cool.

A part of me still love it and want to play W3, but for fuck’s sake, please end !
No idea how I will be able to destroy a Scorpitron or get out of that hellish ambush.
I enjoyed Wasteland 3 much more than 2. I quit 2 after about 25hours as i found it a slog. 3 is a much more polished and better presented game.

I really shouldn't care about any hardware Valve makes as they won't be available here anyway. Only reason I have a Steam controller is because I was in Romania a bunch of years ago and I luckily stumbled upon one in a supermarket there.

Good Lord, I need to save asap for that hypothetical hardware, it won’t be cheap.

That's sad to hear. I don't think the game is bloated, more that the actually interesting part is exactly in that second part of the game. inXile should have made the parts in Arizona much shorter, and got the player to the new area in maybe 10 hours tops, instead of like 30 hours it took me to get there.

It's true that it raises the difficulty quite a bit, but the real issue is that this difficulty spike is not the same for all builds. Wasteland 2 is crazy unbalanced, and if you have two assault rifle specialised people in your party, plus a good sniper, you have a big advantage over someone who only has one or, or none at all. And once you get energy weapons the game almost becomes too easy.

I can totally understand how this could be super frustrating and lead to people quitting this game, which is a shame because there is so much crazy and fun stuff to do in the Los Angeles/California map. :confounded-face:

I'm really excited to see what does it looks like and as it won't be shown until the end of the year, I will wait and then decide which one I get, Win 3 or Steamboy (no one will ever convince me that this machine is not an Steamboy)

Going to be honest, I just want it to play JRPGs (mostly classic ones) and smaller indies, big games will still be played on PC cause' power and convenience but yeah, I don't know why I feel more comfortable playing JRPGs on a handheld.

Imagine the pride Sweeney must be feeling when a game, like Maneater, that he paid a lot of money to be timed exclusive on EGS, reached Steam top global best sellers and Valve didn't pay a cent for it to be on Steam.
Wouldn't the devs look at this with pride and say their next game should do the same, cash from Epic then get cash a year later from Gamepass and still sell at number 1 on Steam, win-win-win?

200+ developers have confirmed their game for the Palestine Bundle as of a few hours ago, so the release is approaching.

Here's the organiser's twitter if you want to keep a closer eye on things.

Playing through Mass Effect 2 again and I don't care what anyone says. This is the best rpg of all time. A masterpiece from start to finish.

Maybe only rivaled by New Vegas and the Divinity games but those games just don't reach the same ambitious highs imo.

I can't believe what happened to BioWare this past gen.

KOTOR, ME, DAO and ME2. They really were the best dev in the business during that stretch.

and now they are... :negative-blob:

I don't see how they can return to those days with the new DA and ME either. It will forever be impossible to make something better than those games.

Thank you for this very interesting reply to my post ! I'm really torn between admiration, love and hate about Wasteland 2. It's just this close to being a GOAT.

I would have been perfectly content with a 40 hour CRPG that only takes place in Arizona. It's when I finally internalized that California was maybe as long and far harder that I began to be fed up with the game.
There are real issues of teaching the mechanics, and of UI too, intermingled with the difficulty going crazy. I finally looked over the Internet and among the myriad of unhelpful takes, the solution to my ambush issue was given clear as day. Ambushers use energy weapons, don't use metal armors because you will get more damages. It's not illogical and you could wonder why I had to bang my head against this wall for hours and look on the Internet to get it. But the issue is, they indeed explain this mechanic, at the very start of the game. Excuse me dev if I'm not used to it when it finally becomes important when I'm 95 hours in ! And let's not delve too long on the fact that despite being a major mechanic, nothing in the armor description seems to indicate if they are or not made of metal :so-good-blob:

As far as my build and team go, I'm just terrified about having messed up now. The Scorpitron fights look crazy and my damage output is globally pathetic. I have a shotgun (ridiculous), a pistol (rofl), an assault weapon (just meh, a little better now that I began to use alt fire), two melee (respectable but situational) and two snipers (great, they get the work done). I tried energy weapons, on synth even, but the damage output wasn't even as good as my snipers.
I keep in mind that I have several missile launchers available in stores for when shit will really hit the fan, but they are in limited supply.

At the same time, it's a fantastic emulation of pen & paper RPG with skill checks galore. It's a wonderful CRPG, but again, 95 hours in, I am a little fed up with being rolled over every encounters.

The joke is I resumed my playthrough because several posts tempted me to finally try Pathfinder. Given its reputation for being super hard and just never ending, I think I'm in trouble.

I'm continuing to ruthlessly cull my backlog so have played a couple of demos to get an impression before wanting to jump into the full thing (yes I know how dumb that sounds but like I said I'm being ruthless with judging new games to play nowadays; there’s too much out there and I’m not filling my time anymore with stuff I find to be “just alright”), but Supraland and Mutant Year Zero I'm afraid have not made the cut.

Supraland looks really charming and has a nice sense of open exploration, but I got to a point where I couldn't for the life of me find any more coins towards buying the essential upgrades (got into the age old problem of finding multiple secret areas instead when I just wanted to continue the main path), so turned it off.

Mutant Year Zero I hadn't realised was so stealth focused, which is fine, but I didn't really know what to do, as I can't seem to sneak up on enemies and killing anyone then alerted everyone else, so again turned it off.

2 titles off the now shrinking backlog (it was at 45 titles a couple of months ago and now at 20), and back to playing Silent Hill 3 in the meantime.

I've done 95% of the MELE-ME1 sidequests and i'm heading off on the storyline towards the end and on to ME2 & ME3 then i reckon i'll do another run on ME Andromeda to top things off nicely.

Ah, that's a shame, but MYZ is indeed more of a 'Gang up on isolated mobs one by one' thing than a regular tactical game.

The reviews are pretty good at least

If they did it in April or June it would have sold better for sure. I really hope they don't use this performance to not possibly releasing SMTV on Steam in the future.

Also Nocturne will be a hell of a game to play on SteamPal later this year :coffee-blob:
