Yeah, I think that last sentence about sums it up. I don't know if this borderline old person mentality, but it just doesn't seem appropriate at all. At least not in the basic sandbox where you can run around and do tonally dissonant stuff while wearing a dumb skin. Disable that or something. If you come into a museum wearing a hot dog costume doing dances -- especially during a culturally important anniversary -- you'll rightly be shown the door. Also reminds me a little of people doing crazy inappropriate selfies at public WW2 memorials. Nobody's stopping you, but it's just absolutely tasteless.

Is there any source for this?
Nope, but it's a popular theory because of (1) the article below, (2) Mitsuda is flying to Europe this month for recording. As soundtrack is always done around the final stage of development of a game, people are speculating that Xenoblade 3 is close to completion. And (3) Nintendo usually have a direct around Sep.

Of course Fortnite isn't the place for such an event. These are all just silly publicity stunts, like literally everything about Fortnite. Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. As long as people continue talking about Fortnite, then Epic made the right choice.

It reeks of corporate exploitation to pull in more engagement. Like recently with Fortnite's pride event (mostly just rainbow themed cosmetics, of course) where they prominently hosted a homophobic creator’s level. There was some hubbub about it, creator apologized, Epic removed it and then reinstated it. No notice, no nothing. What’s the message there? It’s cool as long as you feign being apologetic? I sincerely doubt that person saw the light all of a sudden considering the dehumanizing stuff they posted on social before.

Epic just seem morally bankrupt at this point. Their pursuit of the almighty dollar has created a massive machine of hypocrisy and exploitation fed from the top by Tim. Using the popularity amongst kids for a game to push agendas and extract as much cash out of them as possible. Ripping off that game recently shows that they have no moral backbone. I don't usually assign emotion to companies as they are all out for profit in one way or another but some are able to do it without making me feel like they are the devil incarnate. Its greed pure and simple.

like - Martin Luther King in fortnite? who the fuck signs off on this stuff?

The message is that Epic doesn't give a fuck about anything except making money. Pro-LGBTX messaging is hip and cool now in corporate world, so Fortnite gotta have one of those events too. Pretending you are woke about racism is a the hip corporate thing to do, so there you go, gotta have a Fortnite event. And naturally you commercialise it too.

It goes without saying that I don't think Epic is all that special about this, most big corporation are like this. I think it's just that special Tim Sweeney touch that makes it somehow especially disgusting.

Interesting, looking forward to it then. Hopefully, there will be less fan service and less cringe than Xenoblade 2.

This sucks for the developers. At the same time, I feel it's essential to keep the 2-hour refund policy in place as it's been an extremely useful feature for consumers. I'm not sure what other alternative measures can be done to prevent this sort of abuse from happening that doesn't result in making massive changes to the policy.
Without hard number on the subject we are talking about anything tbh
Thing is, dont even start thinking throwing away digital refund just because of a borderline case

Why so many JRPGs in a single day :dizzy-face:

Playing Psychonauts 2, yup, it's exactly what I wanted all these years.
I'm still early in the game but you can feel that they wanted to go even beyond by making the usual platformer mechanics into something both plot relevant AND used for more than just moving around.
Game is not only good, it's also smart.

People are saying that Baldo's first dungeon is legit difficult (there are 11 of them according to IGN preview), and while the graphics are pretty, there are many small annoyance and lack of introduction to the game.

Honestly? Sounds like my thing.

Edit: Ouch, steam version locked to 30fps. They better fix this asap.
Collection of Mana on Steam, when? :(
Unlike collection of saga, that one really depends on Nintendo.

Regarding refund abuse, I don't agree that refunding a very short game that you completed is necessarily abuse. In the store page's description there is nothing to indicate that the game is as short as it is, I can imagine people buying the game in good faith, being surprised by the very short length and refunding it because it's not worth the money to them. Only people that knew the game was short beforehand and bought it with the specific intent of completing it and refunding it can be legitimately thought of as abusing the refund system.

I have disassembled my faulty Xbox 360 wired controller (after making sure the small wire was not faulty). It turns out one can remove the "vibration packs", which means I would not need to deactivate vibrations in every game, or have to deal with them in games like Snake Pass which do not have this option.

Now, I have to figure out if this process solved the faulty contact, and... another issue with a button which I may have broken in the process. :face-with-cold-sweat:

Edit: Confirmed that I had one issue, and I have another one now. Time to throw it away, I guess. It was interesting nonetheless.

Not a lot of reviews yet but not looking good.... mostly negative actually. Also 30fps.
The dev is on Era and I believe he is claiming that it is an "artistic" choice to match old caroons animation style.

However they were claiming that it was also going to have 60FPS on PC but wethere that was at release or post release I am not sure.

Edit: try this

Mmh, Crackdown 3 or Agents of Mayhem for an average open world actioner ?
Leaning AoM, I fear Crackdown could play it too straight ?

What do you think ?

This reminds me of why the Nintendo OT titles over on Era have always rubbed me the wrong way.

The subject line is always followed by rotating human-rights messaging, (Trans rights are human rights), (Stop Asian hate), etc.

I guess I'm of two minds on it.

Raising public awareness is always a good thing. But at the same time context matters, and hitching your wagon to such messaging through completely unrelated topics feels a bit tacky to me.

Co-opting real-world issues and stapling it to corporate branding feels like it cheapens the original message. It makes the material feel trendy and naïve, like a high-schooler walking around with a Free Tibet t-shirt who has no real understanding of the subject material and is only using it as a vehicle for street-cred through a fashion statement.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but it reads tasteless to me for some reason. Like you're not taking the material seriously or treating it with the gravity it deserves, instead only throwing out trendy buzz words.

Reviews are complaining about performance so it seems the 30fps aren't even stable. And input lag up to 2secs. And bugs. Jank. Nope.

The Nintendo OT took away the Social Support messages and got flamed for it didn't they, so they put them back on?
I suppose you could say that anything that gets eyes on your message and reaches an audience is a good thing?
I get the argument of some places and events being innappropriate but if you want to get the message to the next generation you have to go where they hang-out really.

Yeah, that's why I noted that I'm conflicted about it.

Getting eyeballs on equality topics is important either way.

Just feels like there's a time and place as well. Sticking it on a thread where you go to talk about Mario & Princess Peach feels like it's treating serious subjects as careless & flippant taglines. It dilutes the message.

Didn't play Agents of Mayhem but I really enjoyed Crackdown 3.
Yeah, the big flaw in my question is that I bet not many people played AoM :thinking-face:
Bah, what's the risk, installing Crackdown 3.

By the way, if you want to be cool and in, the new hot topic is Saint's Row. ERA doesn't know for sure who the other side is yet. Could be racists, misogynists, ageists... but you heard it here first, no liking the new Saint's Row is a no no.
One very cynical person could maybe think the articles about it are teleguided by the PR team wanting to ride a controversy. But that's a very cynical person. The more probable explanation is that the barbarians are at our doors.
...
Well, fuck, I'm still not chillax :confounded-face:

No fucking way. Did they seriously do that? :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao:

I'm sure glad I've not associated anymore with that rubbish bin of a site. Era of all places should not even be talking about Stop Asian Hate when their own Asian members are marginalised. Meanwhile, their admin team are quite happy being corporate bootlickers but still didn't have a bloody clue about fostering a healthy community.

First full work week is over, haven't played a game since sunday. Been lots to do and think about when you are new and just finished your education. Hopefully things goes more "automatic" for me soon so I have more time for games and stuff.

It is important to me to have a well balances work-social life, that I will have time for games and stuff too.

Yeah, I was hesitant to even bring it up as I can respect how any type of pushback can read as not being sympathetic to human equality.

Not putting them on blast or anything, and if it moves some hearts and minds that's good!

Just find it a bit irritating when I perceive serious subjects presented casually or unmindful (and I fully admit I could be wrong on this one).

Leave it to a tabloid rag like Kotaku to frame consumer friendly policies as a harmful thing. The writer probably enjoys and demands all kinds of consumer protections for everything else they purchase in life but somehow this is a problem. Here's the cold, hard truth; the Steam marketplace is survival of the fittest, insofar as indie devs are concerned. The fact that someone endured your game (or any media) to the end does not automatically imply that it was worth the money. How many people do you think watched the latest Justice League movie or Mulan remake and wouldn't have taken a refund when they walked out? The primary criterion for a large number of refunds isn't whether a game was long enough, but whether it was good enough. Take a game like A Short Hike. Probably less than 2 hours but I promise you the number of refunds the developer got was a rounding error compared to his sales. Because the game is bursting with charm and beauty and it makes you feel good. The experience is what people judge when deciding whether to refund or not.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but it reads tasteless to me for some reason. Like you're not taking the material seriously or treating it with the gravity it deserves, instead only throwing out trendy buzz words.
It is entirely performative and utterly ineffective (much like everything else on the site). There isn't a single human being who will read those words and attain enlightenment or have a road to Damascus moment and change their worldview by it. It's entire purpose is to declare to the world how genuinely good they are (otherwise known as virtue signaling). You know how Era in general dislikes gaming (and other) communities on reddit, Twitter, Youtube, Twitch, Facebook and what not? All of those communities dislike Era and find it utterly obnoxious. You know what they say about running into assholes all day, right? Of course, they're too self absorbed and out of touch to notice it themselves.
