Anyone else looking forward to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Mini? The combination of M2 handling the emulation + Yuzo Koshiro (❤) doing the menu music is making me really curious about the end result.
Depends on the games. I've been hearing a lot of praise about M2 so I'm gonna wait for impressions and see if it's good. On second thought, why not get the analogue Mega SG and get those everdrive carts? I feel that it'll provide a lot of value much more.

FunktionJCB Same reason as you really, because i like the community, or more specific subcommunities. PCGaming ERA, NieR-Era, and the little communities for the smaller japanese games mostly, and as with many things in life, you unfortunately can't have the good without the bad. Although the bad is outweighing the good more and more.

_ _ _ _ _

Nappael Just for the record (And you can post this explanation on ERA if you want and if it's not agains the TOS?) i'm not the one "downplaying a hate movement" that RPS writer is doing a good job at that by himself, he doesn't need my help.

I was simply saying people that throw accusations around like candy are giving me the impression they want it to be true because it makes them feel self-important precisely because those who do it weren't the ones who got harassed to begin with (as you can infer from the second post i made before i was banned)

What a POS lmao.

Fuck you Gevin Evangelion is goat, stays goat, and will always remain GREATEST OF ALL TIME!

I posted it.

You've probably seen my reply already, but I'll repeat it here. I actually agree with you that you aren't downplaying a hate movement, and if anyone is it's the RPS freelance writer.

On your second point. Sorry but I'm going to disagree on that. While they might not have experienced it first hand, many of these people know people who have and do not want it repeated.

A Mega SG and an Everdrive will cost you 5 times as much as a Mega Drive mini. That's what you go for if you want 100% accuracy, it's not the value for money option. And anyway, if you want to stay legit you'll use the SG with original carts, or your own backups anyway. Which will end up costing you even more if you don't own the carts yet. If you do own the carts... then just use the SG.

You could use the Mega Drive collection on PC, and then extract the files and put them on an Everdrive I guess. Not sure if that would work but I guess it would.

I personally own a bunch of Mega Drive carts, and already have a Retrode which allows me to rip them and play them on my PC. The Mini only has value to me because of M2, and the potential for the hardware to be hacked.

Finished Operencia. Combat needs some balancing as it can get a little tedious by the end, but overall very good game. Crackdown 3, We Happy Few and Operencia... that's $2 well spent on Game Pass :p

I doubt it will be affordable over here, but since I was on camp Sega growing up with the Mater System and MegaDrive, I'm curious about it. Of course, if I get an authentic experience/emulation with matching controllers, then I will have nothing else to blame but myself on how bad I suck at the games now.

We'll establish our anime haven here

I see several fellow forum members get all worked up about ERA. Some get banned, go back, get banned again, go back, and so on.
I'm genuinely curious: if you don't like how things are, and keep getting upset by it, why go there?
Mostly because of active threads for specific games that I like. Topics about Steam or EGS are so damn frustrating on Era.

I'm glad Operencia is gaining positive word of mouth as i am really interested in it but i'm not sure i would have bought it as i literally have 16-18 DRPGs in my library left to play from when i went on a binge last year.

Operencia and Vaporum are in my mind for next time i need to top-up the list though.

The worst part of people wanting to link the egs pushback as gamer gate, is that gamer gate will try to attach itself to it, or at least that's what I fear the most.
I fear the same, but I think the recent moves by Valve to limit the effect of review bombs might have pissed them off. Plus I see many complain about getting banned on the Steam Community forums.

Yeah, you're right, didn't think this much through honestly. Genesis Mini has a lot more potential for first time genesis players or ones who don't care about %100 accuracy.

On the one hand the original model looks fancier and more retro, on the other hand I have no nostalgia for it since we had a Mega Drive II model at home and I never even saw the original anywhere back then (perhaps in Greece it wasn't even released before II became the standard? I have no idea really).

I wish the 2 controller variation had the 1 controller price, then I'd find it more worthwhile for sure, even if it had 30 rather than 40 games. They try to add value with the amount of games I suppose but yeah. I bought a SNES Mini for my brother in law and it's a very cool little device. Also overpriced (but we were lucky and had the prettier model in Europe at least). We'll see. I really don't have much nostalgia for 16bit SEGA as my brother never let me play, haha.

I'd buy a Saturn mini in a heartbeat regardless of which model (they're more similar) as long as the controller was the revision (like the original Japanese). I'd like the expected gems like Virtua Fighter and Dragon Force and Panzer Dragoon Trilogy but I'd want less known games like GunGriffon too (maybe localize games we never got while they're at it, like GunGriffon II, Bulk Slash and um, tons more, as Saturn did better in Japan than the West). I wish we could get the Gundam Side Story games that were Japan only back then but I imagine anything with additional licensing beyond the devloper/publisher is a no go.

Of course getting the 60Hz versions of games is a must in either case, we don't need to relive that 50Hz nightmare.

That' Dominic guy is the prime reason why I get the "hey, we need ads to keep the lights on" pop up when I accidentally click on an RPS link. These bloggers are misrepresenting us on purpose. I get if you want to make Epic happy with your anti-Steam shit, but leave us out of it. They really do want GG2.0, because once you create a big enough enemy, those GG dickheads will see that as an opportunity to hop right in. You don't want that. We don't want that.

From what I read (don't take this as a 100% confirmation of anything), the console may get all versions of the included games, so if that's the case we should be fine. :)

Yeah I'm really sad that Operencia isn't available on a storefront I want to support. But like you said, there are many other great DRPGs out there.

Which RPS article are you guys talking about? I know they're hit or miss on the EGS thing, but comparing it to GG?? I havent seen such an article.

I know we have some fellow fans of Sega's older arcade and console games. Anyone up to make a thread?
I am but cautiously as the titles haven't been revealed past first 10. I also have Sega games through Steam and on Vita plus some more on 3DS and Switch as well as run them under emulation.

So not sure that I need this even more so with Sega vs Nintendo or Sony fare.
The whole EGS push from mainstream gaming press, unrelanting offense against Steam, and basically PC gaming customers is depressing. Then going further and equating opposition to EGS with GG is completely ridiculous.

I am basically ignoring any of these bait threads on resetera as they are obviously made with bad faith.

I don't understand the media stance at all. Do or don't, Steam you're at fault. Lol.

Commented as Alexios there but my thoughts on the subjects are mush these days from having them on repeat so much. They're tireless in their circle jerk.

"While True; learn()" is not so much a traditional programming "game" more a puzzle game to try to explain Fuzzy Logic and Machine Learning theories.
These are more like traditional programming games:
Human Resource Machine
7 Billion Humans
TIS 100 - Basically anything by Zachtronics!
There was a 3D game years ago where you were replogramming the world to try to escape from the overseers but i've totally forgotten the name.

Also this is a bit clunky, has an 'interesting' art style and needs some QOL polish but is more of a traditional game where you have a tool you can use to reprogram anything... anything. You can break the game from pretty much the start if you want.

That seems like a great way to describe While True.

I just added your suggestion to my wishlist! Thanks! HopefullyI’ll clear enough of my backlog before the next sale or two to justify trying it.

I’ll probably just buy it anyways, who am I kidding?

FH4 is an awesome port and the store works most of the time now but there's still so much wrong with it (UWP) and MS' whole approach. Halo coming to Steam is great but it's still totally unclear if that means their other stuff will too and what the big strategy is.
I didn't mention UWP for a reason. I hate that crap, but the store is functional and has basic features.

He must be new/freelance as I don't recall his work for RPS. Disappointing to say the least, especially if it does lead to GG taking on the pro-consumer cause against EGS. That is an 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' scenario I don't think any of us want

The enemy of my enemy is the enemy of my enemy, nothing more, nothing less.
Just because vile persons take a side or an argument, doesn't mean I will stop or I will suddenly be on their side. other assholes will want to undermine critique with generalizing everyone but we have to fight against it.

I was thinking about these Tweets this morning.

The base reason for these claims is a lot simpler than people are positing. All that’s happening is just a simple defense mechanism. If you compare all your detractors/critics to GG and successfully create a mental link between them for others, you delegitimize all those critics. So if people are accusing you of shoddy journalism, what’s easier? Facing the criticism like an adult and a professional? Or creating Trumpian tenuous links to a hate movement to escape the criticism?

And considering the hate and backlash that actual journalists working in sociopolitical fields face, wouldn’t you want to see your critics in that same light? I don’t think that means it’s a matter of “I wish I was the target of a hate group.”

To reiterate, what’s happening is some of the gaming “press” cynically invoking a hate group because it protects them from facing the fact that many of them write at a level that wouldn’t pass an 11th Grade English Composition class.

you really should, it's a great game!

just don't expect to learn any actual programming or anything from it ... like AT ALL

but as an "edutainment" (with all those AI history bits) puzzle game - it's REALLY great, highly recommended

At least we still have this forum. :minos_dealwith:

Pokemon Yellow was my first and favorite GBC game. Recently I started Ultra Moon on my 3DS cuz when I was moving I only really felt like playing portable games at the days end, it's okay, and character customization is a guilty pleasure, but man some of these newer designs... 😬
