Sonys PS Plus controvery right now makes them looks like a trash company.

So happy my PS5 is only for exclusives. Fucking bullshit.

The console companies, especially Sony and Ninity, reeks of greed.

Yep, business-wise both companies are bad. Now I just want to pay for their games, not services.

Splatoon 3 will probably make me sub NSO again though. Can't avoid it.

Lol, that seems optimistic, both regarding the time management aspect and the franchise fatigue aspect. Focus on the best one of those, which is Xenoblade 1, and mix in some top games from other genres IMO.

I finished Triangle Strategy. I enjoyed it quite a lot, even though I think I got the worst ending possible. It plays more like 13 Sentinels than Final Fantasy Tactics as there is much more emphasis on story than combat. The tactical gameplay, while challenging and satisfying, isn't as in depth as FFT. It's currently my runner up to GOTY behind Elden Ring.

I think I'm going to replay Xenoblade 2 next and then the Torna DLC (which I never played before) to get ready for Xenoblade 3.

Yup, the elephants in the room are the franchise and genre fatigue :anguished-face:

Not mentioning I can’t for the life of me choose how I will play. On Switch for that sweet portability ? On PC for the 1440p ? It’s like asking me to choose between my children apparently :sweaty-blob:

I think the interface and quality of life upgrades on Switch are pretty great compared with Wii or Wii PC emulation solutions. Switch PC emulation may be good though, but I have not tried that

Downunder.
What the hell is genre fatigue?

I've been playing all the mainline Final Fantasy titles back-to-back since February.

I started my second attempt at Xenoblade, after losing my save to some windows update years ago. It’s incredible how, despite their already bad rep, the sub quests are really trash fire.
Is it the same in the rest of the series ?

Other than that, and despite the sub quest best efforts to nuke the pacing and tension of the plot, I’m pretty interested.

What I do when I replay Xenoblade 1 is to accept as many sidequests as I can in the local town/village before I explore the area. That way I complete quests while defeating enemies and gathering items in each of the big areas. Of course, you don't have to do all of them since you'll end up overlevelled for the story bosses if you do so (if you don't have Expert Mode from DE enabled, of course).

Been hunting for a copy of 13 Sentinels for Switch with no luck. I don't want to import one either so digital will be the way I'm afraid.

Ehh Furi was released on Xbox way before Gamepass was a thing, and it got released after the PS4 version.
It's not about that, apparently games releasing on game pass both before and after game pass became a thing are not selling well on Xbox.

That surely contradicts Phil's own claims that game pass has been leading to increased sales for titles on the service though.
Besides moot point as Furi was launched pre game pass, and to my knowledge has never been on game pass either?

The lack of success for Furi is much more likely due to it being late compared to the other versions.
By comparison I remember reading that Death's Gambit was a sales hit before it was announced to be coming to game pass.

EDIT: in fact didn't xbox just have their best ever non holiday quarter?

So without game pass, releasing a game on Xbox isn't the best.

Does this mean physical/digital releases on xbox but not also on game pass?
I had kind of assumed that Game Pass had kind of subsumed the XBL marketplace altogether and become the only digital portal for the X/S

Did he say if the games increased with sales on other platforms due to game pass or on Xbox?

I've read many indie devs stating releasing games on game pass increased sales on Steam, like No More Robot's CEO stated their games sold more on Steam after putting it on game pass, like the game Descenders.

no of course Phil wouldn't mention that, and it's frankly not the point of the topic, which is looking only at sales on xbox, but your statement was

games releasing on game pass both before and after game pass became a thing are not selling well on Xbox.
which is just a nonsense

as is Imran's statement that games not on game pass are not selling well either!

My mistake, wrote wrong, was suppose to say "games releasing on Xbox both before and after game pass became a thing are not selling well on Xbox. "
so games overall are just not selling on xbox? yeah that's still madness, and going to need some receipts on that frankly

so we know that game pass is a success
we know that it's leading to increased sales on xbox
we know that xbox just had their best non q4 ever which was driven overwhelmingly by revenue from "content and services" which is not just game pass and we know that they've outsold ps5 past 2 quarters as well in many territories

but nah clearly no one is buying anything

Nope, not madness. Lots of games are skipping Xbox, especially from Japan. For Xbox, to get Japanese games, you need a game pass deal, otherwise Japan don't care.

Xbox outsold the PS5 due to lack of stock for the PS5.

I thought I'd play Republic Commando a bit. It's really not that great with how one note it is with its very arcadey take on a tactical FPS and scripted progression triggers with constant respawns until then but I'd love a modernized, less linear sequel. But, it was funny to see last year's Switch and PS4 rerelease didn't even add proper widescreen, the HUD is stretched like on PC with the fan widescreen patch (there are mods that fix some - but not quite all - of the stretching mind). It has glimpses of greatness in the ideas and more than that the presentation for sure, for its time, but yeah, the gameplay, gunplay, squad controls, are just OK. Maybe if they could have had AI, gunplay and levels a bit more like HALO (which I wasn't a huge fan of, but still) and/or coop it would have been a real classic.

Japan has forever and a day skipped xbox, that's not new so it means nothing frankly.
Xbox division is clearly growing in sales and marketshare without Japan.
Your point was that xbox games overall aren't selling, Japan alone proves nothing in the face of increased revenue.
How can they not be selling games if they're making more money?

As for the ps5, well again so what?
it still doesn't mean xbox isn't selling games, and that's on Sony not MS. MS have deftly managed the supply chain crisis, and that's down to their own actions, by having a lighter calibre system and paying for priority in chip production. Yet all I see people all over constantly acting like "ah that doesn't count"

You wrote that Xbox outsold PS5 as an argument for that Xbox is doing well, but it is not, people can't get their hands on a PS5, so they buy an Xbox instead.

Xbox is barely existing in lots of countries, it's the whole reason why MS is releasing on PC/Steam, to reach all the countries in the world where they don't care about Xbox.

And for all we know, the revenue increase for Xbox can also be thanks to PC revenue.

yeah all of that I've just bolded, you have no proof for.

All of that is speculation on your part.

You don't know that people are buying an xbox just cos PS5 isn't in stock, they may well in fact want an xbox funnily enough.
And you don't know what builds up their gaming revenue either, it could be cos of pc but that alone is why revenue is up? PC gaming alone is why xbox just had its best non q4 quarter?
to pretend like xbox series s/x isn't a hit and that xbox is in the duldrums like you're implying is head in the sand nonsense

So you are saying if both Xbox and PS5 was easily available on a worldwide scale, Xbox would win in sales?

I dont have proof of the PC revenue, true, but Xbox games have sold in millions on Steam, so I will go on a limb and say it's true.

on the bold, I didn't say that, I never even implied it in fact, just that you don't know why someone is buying a console.
But what you had said was that xbox games aren't selling, and that's what I'm arguing back on, cos it's a stupid argument.

There's simply no denying that xbox series s/x is a hit, that game pass is a hit, and that games on xbox are still selling outside game pass too.

And, I'll also go out on a limb like yourself then and say that I think you're wrong that PC alone and nothing else is what has driven the xbox division to its best non q4 quarter.

But a lot of what you wrote is also assumptions, like what I wrote. All we know is that Xbox is currently selling well, which might have something to do that people can't find PS5s. And that game pass has 25 mill subs or what it was. And they saw a small increase in revenue. That's all.

I didn't say noone buys Xbox games, I literally wrote "sales isn't the best" and "are not selling well on Xbox. ", nowhere did I write that noone buys Xbox games.

Using console best seller or most played chart gives us very little. Just like EGS charts.

I seriously doubt the claim that Xbox doesn't sell games if they aren't on Gamepass.

Funny enough even though I have good PC I was thinking of getting a PS5 since there are couple of games on there that I really want to play but it seems that no matter where I look there is no stock available. This is coming from someone who lives in Southern California. From what I have seen is that the Xbox Series X|S are more widely available overall. If I want to get a PS5 I still have to watch stock trackers closely.

I had to sit waiting at a stock tracker like an insane person to get my PS5.

I have a Series S, but if I wanted to upgrade it to a Series X (don't see the point since it's only a BC machine at this point) I'd probably be able to grab one pretty quickly.

Sony are really struggling with their supplies.

Looks like we're getting an FFXVI update soon.

I'm probably not going to wait for the PC release of this one so I'm pretty excited to see how this is shaping up on PS5.
