Not reviewing it, as of right now. Our World is Ended has me not wanting to touch an unknown VN for a while. Is it supposed to be good, from what you know?
Ah, right. I'm unsure myself whether it's actually good or not. I just followed the anime for a little while and was a little curious about it.

It's a shame about OWIE though. I kind of like its artstyle, fwiw.

9PM - "I think I'm going to play Supraland for an hour before going to bed"

I look at the clock and it's past midnight.

This game is so good, when I think there are no more upgrades or abilities to receive I'm rewarded with a new one and it makes me think about all the past areas that may have other paths to take!

The puzzles are clever and they feel rewarding when you discover how to solve them, though I'm sure I solved some of them in the stupidest possible way.

My only critique so far are about the enemies, it gets a bit annoying when arriving in a new area and there are a horde already waiting for you.

I certainly solved some puzzles in... unusual ways, but even when I broke the intended solution it wasn't too easy that I felt cheated.

Combat is indeed the weakest part. It didn't annoy me too much because after the beginning I was always way overpowered, but it could be improved. Still, when you remember the game was made by two people (if I'm not mistaken, one doing 3d models and skinning and the other... everything else) it is understandable.

Which makes all the more incredible how the game nails the pacing of areas, upgrades and puzzles. I had a lot of fun with it.

I agree you can feel pretty overpowered in the combat after some upgrades. I just looked through their site and indeed it just two people credited, such an incredible job!

The game seems to be getting a lot of positive review by the users on Steam, but I did not find it getting a lot of coverage on gaming sites.

Pardon me, but...

I fuckin' love WoFF. That is all. :coffee-blob:
I hope you like it too! And everyone else who plays it. I also hope SE let's Hiroki Chiba direct another one.
I really hope it's getting a sequel someday. I liked it a lot more than both FFXV and traditional Pokemon.

Not reviewing it, as of right now. Our World is Ended has me not wanting to touch an unknown VN for a while. Is it supposed to be good, from what you know?
How come, is it bad?

also this game looks nice
It does look nice. The visuals and animation remind me of Cortex Command.

Now that I think about it, I think it was one of the first modern* indie games I played, along with uplink. I used to read an indie game website that I liked... I can't remember the name. They used to give bronze, silver and gold monthly (?) awards. I think that's also where I discovered stuff like elastomania and liero.
Anybody know which website I'm talking about? I remember that it died a long time ago...

*modern as in out of the shareware era.

I think I already said it on ERA, but some genre conventions in Otome games creep me out. The genre is a guilty pleasure of mine and I honestly feel bad for it. Every IF otome out there has at least one route there MC is in love with some godawful, abusive PoS who calls her "dumb bitch" in every other sentence and she's like "haiii onii-sama". I don't get it, do women in Japan love this kind of stuff or something?

The other problem is, the MC is always weak and needs protection (Collar x Malice might be an exception). Don't get me wrong, I like chivalry in normal doses, but something like Sweet Fuse is on the whole new level. What's the point of narrative-driven experience if every road leads to the damsel in distress situation?

The only otome I've played is Amnesia: Memories and "clover" scares me.

By the end of it I ran out of patience and killed that mofo, but I plan to do a clean hands run in the future.
I plan to give Dishonored 2 as a whole another run, and for that mission I really plan to go for the "ghost" route, where Jindosh doesn't even know you are there.

Such an amazing mission, and certainly the most interesting level I have ever seen in an immersive sim.

I like how Metro Exodus slowly falling into obscurity, it was all rage back in February and now people barely remember about its existence.
It's remarkable. Metro Exodus was on top of my wish list for months. Now I don't even want to play it anymore and I don't even feel bad about it. I'd rather spend my money on games/devs not involved in these shitty exclusivity deals.

HOLY SHIT
Japan gets Anime Versions of the next MTG Set

Even some Amano art.

Praying to god these make it westwards. :steam_pigblanket:

(Some) women just like to love abusive assholes, it's not exclusive to Japan
Not just women.
Suggested reading: Batou Shoujo

It feels insecure, like it's not confident enough in its own story - so it has to have sex jokes or some trope every 5 minutes. It's not a very good VN.
oh well, unfortunate. Looked pretty interesting and reminded me a bit of S;G in ist art.

Man, it would be really nice if NISA could get the console Utawarerumono games on PC. Playing through Mask of Deception on my Vita, but it would really be at home on PC.

NISA don't care about PC any more, unfortunately :(

the only games they publish right now are non-NIS ones ... and even those are few and far between

Well, the discussion was in the context of Otome games, which are generally geared towards women.
But yeah, men aren't immune to that behavior.

FTFY.
Played through both of the sequels on Vita, and if I hadn't hacked my way out of the screen dimming and having to swipe the screen to unlock, I sure as hell wouldn't be able to handle spending 70+ hours it took to finish them.
Not to mention the fact that even despite the games not using native resolution during the fights, the framerate was abysmal at times.
All would be non issues on x86 based handhelds.
Also, NISA has nothing to do with Utawarerumono.
Games are developed by Aquaplus, and have been translated and published by good old ATLUS.

I hope there's a slim chance of Prelude to the Fallen and Zan to come to PC. Although hoping for a repeat performance of Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk in terms of localisation quality is another matter entirely.

Mmm... I get that, but Anihawk said on the other place that when Labyrinth of Galleria comes over, it'll probably be on PC. While that's by no means an official stance, it shows that they haven't fully abandoned PC at least.

Very true. Hopefully with Prelude being a 2020 release it has plenty of time in the oven and turns out well.

They're publishing Zan and Prelude to the Fallen, and have ported non-NISJ properties to PC before.

NISA is localizing Zan and Prelude to the Fallen. Atlus doesn’t seem to localize non Atlus/SEGA games anymore.

Origin bundle and/or origin keys on humble

Either way id like the latter if itll mea i am free of eur prices.
Wrong Origin my guy. That’s not EA.

Metro/Anno. But I don't think they have the pull for the likes of Capcom, SEGA, Square and other actually big gaming corporations who have seen the benefits of Steam first hand as part of their core business for many years now and are part of the companies that see the importance of actual player engagement statistics (not to mention the service and backend Steam offers) over simply being compensated for not reaching their targets in those. Ubi was a fluke by virtue of having their own client to migrate to as they've likely been planning all along with cultivating support for it and they simply got Epic's money on top of that, they had nothing to lose. They don't even seem to have a pull with Bethesda (or Microsoft) that could have otherwise been swayed to go to EGS when their own service failed rather than revert to Steam. It's still just a tiny minority of companies that have accepted Epic deals in the grand scheme of things.
I hope you're right.
In other news. Forager is good. And Supraland is good. And Train Valley 2 is good. And Katana Zero is good. And Bomb Chicken is good. And Whispers of a Machine is good. And God's Trigger is good. Leave me alone you damn games!
Too bad Steam is drawing its last breath. Outsmarted and outbusinessed.
talk about random :-D

Nice! looks really good.

Seems like 505 finally fixed the price for Control and, unlike Sinking City, it's actually pretty decent for an AA game. Still, all these exclusivity deals with Sony and Epic made me a bit sour on the game, but I guess it's nothing new for Remedy, AW and QB were exclusives as well, hope the deal is worth it and won't bite them in the fillet in the long run.

Food for thought:

I think the problem is that pubs don't care what Valve actually makes, Valve can take 0 and people like Rami Ismail still be complaining that they don't deserve their cut. The deals Epic makes have nothing to do with the revenue split, what pubs really want is an upfront payment, otherwise Humble and Itch.Io would already dwarf Valve as market leaders.

Yet they can't stop whining about "entitled gamers"... the irony.

Finally did the monthly challenge.

On a related note, that final boss was just as brutal, exhausting, and infuriating as it was the first time around. I think I'm just about done with Sekiro. Moving on to Yakuza Kiwami so I can hopefully finish it in time for Kiwami 2.

That's just capitalism at work. It's best to have 100% off 100 sales than to share 30% off 100.000 sales.
Simple math, is all. 100% > 70%
