I stopped Outward.
I figured that maybe if I beeline more of the mainquest first it will click somehow. But the game had other ideas.
Basically, if you "die", you might get saved by some dude, or captured and thrown into a bandit camp, or dragged into a hyena cave or something. But somehow magically there's always some weapon and some armor right there on your feet, even when captured by bandits or whatever. And your backpack is usually right around the corner. So the game is basically telling you to go, escape. BUT it's somewhere where you were not before, who knows where, you have a map but you are supposed to try and read environment and match it with the map, there's no compass icon for your own location. And at that point you are probably half dead again, hungry and thirsty, maybe you have some stuff in your backpack to help but maybe not. And then you get ambushed by some hyena that spawns behind you because fuck you and I guess if you die a few times within some timeframe or something, you'll wake up in your home village again. You have your backpack, but anything you used is obviously gone, with poor luck the tent you had with you is still somewhere out there because you didn't have it in your backpack when you died, and you have to basically just start the trip again.
Just annoying and frustrating.
I don't know who this is for but it's certainly not for me.
Started Sable. It's a little janky, but I like it.
