I know it's not an apples:apples comparison as the CS numbers are people who are in client and Fortnite are people who are actually on a game server, but Fortnite's numbers are extremely swingy. Also FN peaks around 2.5 million on weekends, but still.
A lot of CS's player numbers are likely bots farming the new cases, but still.
Also Roblox dwarfs both games and peaked at like 8 million CCU today and >13 million on weekends.
No but you see they're going to help with the Metaverse (that has less players than games like Schedule I).
The fact CSGO can get similar numbers to Fortnite despite CS being PC only and Fortnite being on almost everything is very impressive.

I was being a bit disingenuous as spring is usually Fortnite's low point for player numbers and it still does >2-2.5 million on the weekend. Also the CS numbers are inflated as there are a lot of bots farming cases, but Valve might be in the middle of a ban wave so numbers could drop a bit. I don't deny there's some degree of botting in CS, but I don't think it's as egregious as say Banana or Team Fortress 2.

It takes a special kind of mess to lose against Sweeney of all people.
0% makes great headlines, but how epic is planning to make store profitable or at least sustainable?
I feel dirty but I am actually glad this happened. Next, go after the console makers and Alphabet. Break down these walled gardens.

They're banking on a breakout F2P hit using their IAP functions. That and they will roll back the 0% fees over time (boiling the frog by incrementally dropping that $1m threshold down) if the service becomes well utilised.
I can see why Epic are making this. They're gonna have to do something like this to get Fortnite on iOS under terms they find acceptable, so might as well extend it to everyone else. They're not providing downloads or anything like that, so the main cost of this is the transaction fees that they'll be eating. Those are pretty small in the scheme of things, and at the scale Epic operates at with Fortnite they likely have a good deal with most companies dealing in that kinda thing.
