Well, Groza is still the Night Battle specialist after all
That Clukay swimsuit skin, wew
And for CN they showed the suit skins for AN-94 and AK-15

The last scene with Groza is insane. I can't wait to see Leva's interaction on Elmo. Also, seeing Lainie makes me a bit emotional.
AK15 is confirmed to be physical. She is wearing a exo-skeleton.
Also very happy that Lotta's friend is becoming playable.

Some details about the lateset CN major event:
  • over 200k words
  • has the longest cutscene ever
  • story is so long that they split it into a three-part update
  • theme song at the end
Making such a long story event in full voice has to be a ton of work. :astonished-face:

Finished reading Part 1 of Mimisbrunnr's Loop.
First thing first. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ENDING. When I was reading through the story, two questions continued to cling to my mind: why does this event a part of the main story? What makes it special other than being a contest for the dolls to express their love towards the commander? Then, BAM the ending hit like a truck. I don't know how part 2 will unfold, but I am bloody excited to read it. Honestly can't imagine waiting for 21 days to get Part 2. Must have been torture for CN.

Now, the details. Despite being confused by the nature of this event when reading it, I enjoyed it a lot. The lying, fake tears and eventual humiliating defeat of Sharkry was hilarious. On the other hand, when Makiatto was so determined to win the contest, Mechty was enjoying sleep without intervention from Klukai. Besides, not even my wildest imagination could produce an intense standoff between the most laid-back doll in 404 and our lovely tsundere. I was also pleasantly surprised by Lind and her voice actress - she really spoke like someone with a lollipop inside the mouth. Refusing to hand over the sticker took me off guard, too. Such an adorable dork. There are a lot of funny moments in this event, and the chemistry between each character is really good.

Can't wait to read part 2. Less than 3 days to go. Not long now.

Finished Mimisbrunnr part 1, The competition, while not very significant to the main story (at least until the end), finally gave some dolls that were ignored for too long a much needed screentime. Sabrina finally gets some talking parts and after having zero story appearances in the entire GF1 story I'm happy to see she is a nice and very good girl. I'm also happy to see Lind finally appearing in the story: like Sabrina she didn't have any scene in GF1 but unlike her she did have her moments in Neural Cloud (just like Florence/PA-15) so it's nice to see her follow up from her NC version. Surprisingly Springfield herself is the doll that appeard the least despite this being her playable debut, and it doesn't help that we players already fully figured her out in her previous side event appearances (although the rewrites are to blame for this since she otherwise didn't interact with the commander at all before this event). There weren't big surprises for her in this first part (but I will admit her Covenant story was very well done, especially the final surprise when she shows the commander the "Elmo branch" of Zucchero with the original bar from the Griffin base which she and Kalina recovered and repaired in secret for the commander). The actual competition was nice, good focus on the dolls and it never felt to dragged out, and it's obvious the Moppies malfunction will play a bigger role in the second part
Now for the part 2 stinger, well, I guess even a lovely doll can snap after being cored by the commanders for 10 years straight

Yeah, I was also happy to see Sabrina and Lind showing up. I may need to check out Lind's story in Neural Cloud when she becomes playable in global.

I made a stupid meme because the cat cafe minigame is funny.

Finished reading Part 2 of Mimisbrunnr's Loop. I enjoyed it a lot! I may need to re-read the whole thing again soon because of the interesting structure of the story. The heat outside is definitely not helping my brain to process the info either.

Surprisingly this is a character event, although a very good one. It does introduced multiple mysterious figures in the dark, including a glimpse of the current Paradeus / Nyto organization.

I guess Leva/Robella story will be the "true" main story event. Seeing the flowchart, I hope that it will provide some insights on how Mephisto Agreement loosens up. Right now it seems to be a throwaway tbh. Please Kalina make some sense of it!

Last but not least, never underestimate fucking MP5! Peri strong!

Finished Mimisbrunnr loop part 2. Overall it was a good event, not among the best but still better than most. Like part 1 dolls that had limited appearances in the story get their chance to shine once more, and the "twist" about the Neural Overwrite program was quite clever and reading some scenes in part 1 again really makes you realize how some "hints" were always there. The event was pretty long (it even has a higher amount of stages compared to main story chapters) but it doesn't feel like a true "main chapter", it feels more like a greatly expanded character event (it doesn't even have a final CG/in-engine scene for the final boss battle like Soujourners or Aphelion). However the voice acting really sells some of the scenes (especially Peri's anguish as she gets tortured by the rewrite program) so I can't complain as the event story was clearly made with it being the lenght of a main chapter in mind. I also appreciate how almost all dolls got their role (the only missing from the story were the doll community ones, 404 side B, and the Elmo team outside of the final welcoming party). The set up about the mysterious Varjager leader from Zhao Yui's event (which explains why they ran it before this event) gets a follow up and there are some interesting things to speculate about, like how Overwrite Springfield was mocking Peri by telling her she will "rejoin her friend soon" implying Thompson already fell to the overwrite program, or you know, the fact that Dush somehow also lost her memory in a mysterious way (hint hint) after getting separated by her companion DP-12 (double hint hint) which make some great future set-ups, as well as the voice that helped Peri resist the overwrite enough to be saved
I'm really curious to see where the story will go. Can't wait to see the next event

So I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now. I just haven’t been able to get around to it. I just spent a couple of weeks admitted in hospital and the duration basically covered the entire event of the last patch. What that meant was that I was not able to do any of the event stuff, and I couldn’t even get to the story until the last couple of days when I finally got home. So when I did get around to the story, it was extremely rushed, and as you can imagine, my mood wasn’t the best. And so maybe I was harsher on the writing than I have been so far, but I thought both parts of the story were quite bad. The first part was that resort training exercise, which amounted to absolutely nothing and then the second part was that Death Race kind of competition, where you can predict exactly what’s going to happen in the first 25% of the story. It took hours to get through both parts of the story, and they contributed absolutely nothing to the main narrative.

I feel bad about this, and my current medical condition, probably contributes to my demeanour right now, but I think I am done with this game now.

We’ve all discussed the pros and cons of this game extensively in this thread, so I won’t rehash any of that, but for me, the writing never managed to reach the quality threshold I had expected given the reputation of the first game. And so, we are left with events and mini games that repeat endlessly that we just spend time farming premium currency with for the next doll.

A friend of mine, who is a lot more tuned in with the state of the game, told me that the rewrites should start bearing fruit around October at first, and then maybe sometime in the New Year. I hope for everyone’s sake that that is true, and I also hope that they enable the past events tab so that maybe in the future, I can come back and experience the story that I have missed.

While I was in hospital, I actually decided to stop playing all the Gacha games that I was playing. It’s not that I have anything against Gacha, obviously. I still think it’s a miracle that Mihoyo can release AAA quality titles for free, and then update them every six weeks with high quality, substantial and mostly bug free content. And then do all of this for multiple games simultaneously. The reason I’m stopping those games is that I’ve just fallen too far behind to catch up. You miss a patch or two and think you can catch up, but then that suddenly becomes eight patches or more, and you realise you just don’t have the time or energy to do it anymore. Well, that was the plan until I discovered Umamusume which was something I could play on my phone while lying in the hospital bed. I’m playing that game as a casual rogue like because from what I can tell the actual Gacha stuff is pretty player unfriendly. We’ll see how long it lasts but it is fun for now.

I don’t actually want to let this game go, so I’m thinking that since the new story is out, I should probably give that a shot as well before deciding what to do. But if I’m being honest with myself, there’s a near zero chance that this new story will be able to keep me engaged with the game any further.

So I guess this is farewell from this thread for now for me. I hope the game continues to entertain you guys, and that luck favours you to get all your favourite dolls. I’d love to come back to the game in a few months when the story actually picks up again and I’d appreciate it if you guys could tag me when that happens.

Also, I should have mentioned this earlier, but this entire post was dictated on my phone and I’m going to copy paste this into the forum. My apologies if there are grammatical errors. I do not actually have the energy to type all of this out.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you were hospitalized.

It's sad to see you go, but I totally understand. I usually keep negativity inside my chest, but to be completely honest, both the game and the community isn't at its best state. The launch period hype and leniency dies down and the disappointing aspects of the game are getting amplified by lackluster gameplay and slow-moving main story. I also think that (thanks to the fucking Daiyan and Raymond incident) Mica over-corrected how the dolls feel towards the commander, but I guess that ship has long sailed.

Rant ahead: I absolutely hate that the game had to be gatekept by the worst group of the GFL community. Daiyan and Raymond incident happened because Daiyan's dialogues were datamined, which means that her event story was originally a voiced one, I simply can't imagine how much pre-released work and planning was scrapped because of the stupid controversy.

Return to the topic. I think the next major event featuring Leva and Robella will start acceralating the main story. These two were key characters in the GFL1 main story so their story should have received great attention and care. (Besides, Leva is my favorite doll lol.) It seems that the current pattern is 3 side events then a major event, so we should be able to read it in two months (which fits your friend's prediction). So far Leva seems to be treated as "the flat doll" or "Klukai's best ragebaiter" in the GFL2 community. I seriously wonder how Mica will tackle the narrative surrounding her in GFL2.

On another positive note, some people seems to like Qiuhua story event a lot. I haven't started reading yet but I look forward to it. I also heard some rumblings that side events in the future may have connections to the main narrative but I guess we need to see how things play out. I will surely tag you if there's anything interesting from them. In addition, the current major event in CN is also received really well, and we are given a pretty dope preview (from a trailer) of what will happen to the world and seemingly how the commander finally back to the game.

I hope that we will see you again in the future. In the meantime, take care, have fun and enjoy being a trainer in Uma!

I said it before and I'll say it again: time is precious, don't waste it on things you don't like
The problems with GF2 have been widely documented by everyone that plays it, and I think most of those problems still exists because of wrong choices done by the dev team before the game even came out in CN
Just like Cacher said above the overcorrection on the early story is why the Exilium OGs have been basically erased, and 80% of the events have been turned into "remember this popular GF1 doll commander?". Despite all of this the story is still not making any progress and Helena is still stuck in a box with us since chapter 1. It's obvious the devs don't know where to go after this initial story beat since the old plan for the story was most likely scrapped. But honestly the fact the game spent 8 chapters with only the Elmo team while maybe developing only Colphne among them all was a clear mistake by the writiers. The game launched with at least 15 dolls and only 7 of them appeared for 8 chapters. Character gachas don't work like this
The overcorrection on the Raymond incident is why every doll is now eternally thirsty for SKK and no other type of interactions are no longer possible. SKK is the center of the universe. If SKK is not on the scene every doll must ask "where is SKK?". But again: why come up with that dumb "agreement" (which got "overcorrected" into the shadow realm) and not try to implement the launch dolls better, while slowly adding more dolls over time? Neural Cloud worked like this and was better received
The overcorrection on the poor implementation of early units is why there have been no new purple dolls after Lotta and why every doll is a Sentinel or Support (and why they all have ways of causing big numbers of damage). There is simply no place for half the units in this game in the current gameplay, and there is no point in making elemental teams because the strongest units simply fit everywhere (like Klukay and Springfield, they are basically universal)
The overcorrection on "no content" is why there are time wasters like Gunsmoke, Artifact Recovery, or those poorly implemented minigames, which exist only to give the impression there is something to do between new events. And it's not like there is any reason to not auto them considering, as said above, it's much easier to just force your way with top tier units regardless of elements or team composition (example in this gunsmoke: I get a higher score simply autoing with Kluk than by perfectly using a full fire team, despite fire being the boss intended weakness)
The overcorrection on the early lower revenue is why every new costume is a "remember this one GF1 costume for this one fan favorite GF1 doll?" or "I can't believe this costume got pass the censors!". Like why the hell did Andoris get a BDSM Nun costume in CN? How does that fit with her character? And what about the cow accessories for Quihua's "nurse" costume?

Make no mistake: I play GF2 because I started at launch and I was previously invested into this world. Under any other circumstance I would have never touched it (just as I never touched anything Mihoyo or similar modern gachas). And Exilium is still my only gacha. I don't actively play GF1 since GF2 launched because I don't like wasting my time on gachas instead of "real" games. Gachas should be simple distractions, not your main time spender
Rest well and go do something you like more

Anyway I finished Quihua's event. A typical character event, doesn't seem it makes any progress towards future story beats, and honestly Sabrina appears more and probably does more in this event than the titular doll. There were some nice parts but honestly whole contribution/social credit points story didn't really interest me because in the end it doesn't have anything to do with the commander

I think everyone has valid complaints about the game. I agreed on those points about overall story direction because at the moment, it feels somewhat reactionary depending on the fan receptions. FWIW, I'm sticking with it because at the very least I'm still enjoying the event stories and building the dolls, even though I'm not leaning heavily on min-maxing for PvP and whatnots.

As far as the current event goes, it's not bad (I wish it was longer). But then again, this is coming from someone who loves iyashikei more than anything, so yeah. :flare_lmao:

The ending song for the CN event was uploaded to bilibili. I couldn't resist. I watched it.

Now I feel deep regret. Please stay away from it as much as possible.
