|OT| Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium | Sextans the 3rd Gen Doll

Finished Liushih's event. That was a lot of fun.

Picking up from Basti's mischievous event at Port Mica, Hero Squad arrived at Cliffwatch Town and bumped into Liushih and Zhisui. The writers and localisers are getting very comfortable at making references and jokes, and honestly? Keep them coming. Every time Sweeper opened her mouth, I turn into Nicolas Cage:

What if things go wrong? We must seek the wheelchairs Voymastina and Klukai! What if Phaetusa / Sweeper doesn't have enough battery to move? Maybe turns into Corrosion Dollblade+25 and gets wielded by Hero Dushe! Oh, and don't forget that Voymastina is the best chef on Elmo.

Back to the story, I really like that there is a call back to Mokosh event. Back in Mokosh, Vasily said Commander is so idealistic that it scared him - wielding great power but have no desire towards material wealth or personal gain. This time Liushih did exactly the same - she only wants to use her wealth to help people, and this certainly is really fucking weird in the eyes of normal people living in the Yellow Zone. The writers want us to know that Liu had clearly inherited something from the Commander, like many other Griffin dolls, and I think this writing is very effective.

Meanwhile, I do have questions towards the ending. Dilu (it's the name of Liu Bei's horse, btw) managed to break through its base layer and there's a white light emitted from Liu and Dilu. I do wonder if this is simply a deus ex machina of this story. But how Zhisui made a big fuss about it (rightfully so) seems to be hinting that there's something bigger at play here. A bit weird.

Nonetheless, this is a good one, full of funny and exciting moments. This seems like a side story but the Commander once again gains something critical, a fully-functional weapon production plant in the Yellow Zone. Anyway, for now I look forward to reading Hero Squad next adventure.

Finished Luishi's event. Enjoyed it. The adventures of the "hero" party never disappoint, and I like seeing how despite not making a dent into the corpos pockets all the things the commander and the dolls are doing are still causing real change in the yellow zone. It has been a common point with most returning doll side events but it's interesting to see how, by Persica's own words, "the dolls under that person command are all showing signs of evolving" and how it's starting to happen to the dolls under those dolls commands as seen with Dilu's stopping her own self destruct code. Like the Doll Community power plant, it seems obvious the yellow zone is hiding lots of "things of interest" like the perfectly functioning manufacturing plant which the commander is slowly discovering as the tomato emperor
A shame the gacha nature of this game means it's unlikely we will ever see the Nixcalibur combo attack in all its glory during gameplay
Curious to see who's the backup joining Alva soon

Can they do a double banner asap? I don't care I want to catch up. Ugh avoiding spoilers is so tiring. :unamused-face: Especially it seems that CN bros are seeing some peak cinemas.

I was weak. I saw some stuff. Jesus.

I can't believe that we are going to wait till at least anniversary for this event.

This is some cruel shit. I'm more hyped for this than GTA6. WE NEED TO CATCH UP NOW.

Finished Sextans event. I liked it, it felt pretty long and had good pacing, its also obviously a setup for the next major event
The story finally explores a bit more what exactly are these gen 3 jobbers which the commander is fighting since launch, and most of all it finally gives a face (well an obscured face so far) for the commander to practice target shooting with his trusty handgun. The mansion coming straight out of a Resident Evil game including mutated bioweapons, logs to collect and read and an actual "Resident Evil final boss" was nice. Also after somehow avoiding talking about this for more than a year finally the commander can no longer ignore Nemesis connection to Paradeus (did that logo on her costume never tipped him off or something?). And what's this? This new doll seems kinda familiar? You mean the doll that's been in my refitting room since launch month and is now V6? Looks like Peritya is finally here. And looks like she isn't alone in this meeting considering someone is looking for the commander's well being from her different colored eye. This event kinda had tons of revelations (like really lots of them) which makes it a bit of a shame it's unvoiced. Really curious about what will the commander do about Orphelena and the meeting with the goddess Peritya prophetized
And it's basically canon you can just throw Voymastina at a problem to solve it a quickly as possible. Talk about gameplay and story integration
Unless Mica throws us a curveball, next time it's going to be Ots and Soppo's time. And of course judging from the ending and final scene let's not forget about Nemesis Gnosis

I have been thinking about starting Girls Frontline 2. However just wanted to check something.

Are the events I have missed in some sort of archive. I am used to Nikke, where they have an events Archive and older events storylines get added in there so you can play the story through. You just don't get the chance to pull on the units (well the limited ones). So was wondering if this was the same.

If not am I missing much, again Nikke being my frame of reference, there is usually a lot of background story in their such as character histories and so on. So in that instance they are kind of vital.

There is a campaign menu that features all past story chapters (minus the latest one). Usually a story chapter is added to the campaign 4 months after it's first run
There is also a list of older side chapters which features side stories, although that one tends to be updated in a bit of a random out of order way

Cheers. I tend to play these things more for the story and I believe GFL2 has a good one. So wanted to make sure I could access to "ALL" of it or as close as possible to all.

Have fun! Just stick to the main campaign at the beginning. There are a few side chapters that ties back to the main story but you can think about those later. IMO, post-chapter 8 is the good place to start reading the 1st side chapter, Rhapsody Quartet.

Thank you.

I suppose the next thing to check is the gatcha side of things. Is it reasonably F2P friendly. Ie is it closer to what I consider the more egregious end of the market like Hoyoverse titles.

I haven't played any Hoyoverse game, but I heard GFL2 is using its gacha system, and many people comment that it is more generous than other games. You can get all dolls easily imo. I haven't paid for pulls yet but I got all dolls since launch except one (waiting for her rerun). Going for meta isn't required, too. You can borrow dolls from other members from the same platoon / guild (we have one) to play the platoon fight. Both STHX and another member in the platoon have good dolls to borrow. In addition, most end game content aren't really hard. It is a chill (or side) game, imo. But I'd leave the judgement on its monetization to you.
