The main thing I object too is calling it Censorship. I think people who live in more dictatorship like countries may have something to say about that. Hell, I don't live in a dictator type country (yet) but I remember our government went full blown "Won't Somebody Think of the Children" mode and we went through the video nasty phase.

I am generally of the opinion that as long as something is rated correctly then there is no reason to censor, hell it's rated 18 over here. I would even say the modifications they have made to the costume seems pointless to me as they would need to do far more to the game to make it less "Horndog". But this is still not censorship. It's a decision that appears more driven by advertising than "moral standards" or societal norms (I hate those phrases). It appears to have done it's job, especially if/when we get the "We Have Listened" tweet (maybe I am just being too cynical).

Just as a footnote, I am somebody who generally does not believe in "Editing" entertainment. However I can understand certain conditions. And I agree with anything hitting the cutting room floor due to things like Child Sexualisation.

Maybe this I have just watched one too many horror movies recently that so obviously started out to be aimed at adults but then had things toned down for a wider audience.

It's cute that a KF-esque shitheel thought they had a place to go full mask off here.

If you're still reading this forum, dog whistles are meant to be silent buddy, don't be surprised and cry "Censorship" when you get told to go fuck yourself over posting openly racist alt right shit.

I am a honest man who likes looking at attractive women, but Kim Hyung-tae's sexiness = revealing artistic choice does nothing to me. Actually, I need to correct myself here: I hate it. Many Nikke and Stellar Blade's designs are tasteless and ridiculous, and I feel sad to see many people think these are "good" designs because they lengthen and thicken every character's thighs, boobs and hips to 11.

Btw, Liara and Tali in Mass Effect are attractive af. No one can convince me otherwise.

I believe it is time for all of us to touch some grass, breath some fresh air, and return to more civilized and thoughtful discussions again.

As i want to be the change i want to see, let me open up a new topic.

I watched SpyXFamily Code White in the cinema last tuesday, and it was great fun.

I mean a lot of these people crying censorship are the same type of people to go “How do I get the middle eastern version” when a game has anything gay in it. Or the ones that’ll whine at Nexus for not wanting to host mods that remove (or yknow, censor) said gay content.

Devs and Publishers don’t take them seriously for a reason. I mean its not like they had any actual intention of buying the games they complain about for being muh woke anyway.

This whole Stellar Blade thing is so embarrassing and pathetic. So many people out there that need to get a fucking life. Imagine having the time and energy to waste on this shit. It blows my mind.
It's actually quite sad.

There are a few people in my old high school's "gaming" group chat who have gone full retard on this shit, yammering on all day about "Kabrutus" and "DEI" and "ESG" and whatever lame bullshit their Youtube pied pipers have decided to highlight. Cackling about how "Sweet Baby Inc Detected" and other Steam curators like it will be the figurative Eye of Sauron that magically forces gaming megacorps into bending to their will. It's unhinged as fuck, and whenever any of us try to back them down with any calmly reasoned arguments to the contrary, they just move the goalposts to make it look like the rest of us are the idiots, lol.

We can't exactly kick them out of the chat because they're our classmates, still - but at this point, whenever they put up stuff like that in there everybody just ignores them, and they just don't seem to pick up on this at all - zero self awareness whatsoever.

Youtube and Twitter rage farmers are a blight upon society.

This whole Stellar Blade thing reminded me why I really don't like talk about diversity, inclusion and similar things these days. Major part in it is that everything is done by US standards and everything is rated by US standards. This is kinda most noticeable regarding black characters where entire US history of slavery is pushed worldwide issue for example.

Also my personal opinion is that most things in games done these days regarding diversity and inclusion is performative, done for earning points. For me if you really want to make things diverse that is not just dropping characters in games and entertainment media by modern standards in products regardless of theme, setting and period. Why don't we see games and other entertainment products set in some historic period of Africa? Example 13th century East Africa where we could explore history of Ethiopia where Ortodox Christians clashed with Otomans. Or rich history of India and Middle East. That is true diversity and inclusion in my opinion, showing entire different cultures and history.

Our world history is so rich and full amazing stories and events to draw inspiration from them, yet entertainment industry is sticking to same things over and over again.

In the majority of cases, nothing in those themes, settings nor periods implies it should be white men only, and even if you would have a hardcore historical game set in Europe in the most white corner of it.... having more diverse set of characters can easily be explained with historically accurate story, people did travel even back in the day.

Again that is for me weak argument to avoid making something better like I mentioned. Africa has history, rich history, and I would rather see that explored than use "people traveled" excuse. I want to see more diverse settings and cultures in entertainment.

I don't disagree with that, I definitely want that too! But I don't agree being against diversity in other cases.

I am not against it, i am just saying that for the most part it is an excuse not to make things i mentioned. If we take medieval fantasy game it is always that POC travel to white kingdom and we never see white person travel to other kingdoms. Because it is easier to put few PoC in than create entire game around them. You can't boil down representation of entire culture to 1-2 people and call it a day. I want to see that other kingdom.

I do agree with wanting to see other cultures in games, but just because you have characters that aren't white doesn't mean they have to be representations of an entire culture. Also we have so many games about white person traveling to other cultures, people have been complaining about "white saviour" tropes for a reason.

Because they made white people main characters and not side one like they do with POC when make them travel. I am not saying that you can't make it work, showing things from travelers perspective can be interesting mechanic and way to tell the story. But for the most part we don't see that.

More sales needed my lord
It's pretty great that, even at this point of technical sophistication and gameplay refinement for games, we can still have breakout hits (by nearly any metric) that are made by small studios or even individual developers.
(And the fact that these generally happen on Steam 9 times out of 10 does of course say something about the platforms out there)

Something I realised looking up functionality of MC, it might be better to "warn user" instead of "report post", all the latter does it to remove a post but the former is for to get a user banned if they have a history of unwelcome posts. If someone feels like someone's posts go uncriticised we also have section where one can call out problematic stuff. I admit for example many things just went me by because someone ranting about anime/hentai and localisation I kind of usually skip that stuff.

yup thats what made discusing things super annoying .... as in most of these discussions on socials ... its always the american way of diversity=skincolour .

Its kinda why i am once again afraid of about the idiocy that will follow KCD2 when it releases, especially now the setting moves to biggerback then "royal silverminig city" which is likely to be highly culturaly diverse (it was one of the most important bohemian cities after prague back then) , but the discussion will probably be murdered again

  • Super Robot Wars V
  • Dragon Quest 11 S
  • Star Ocean the Divine Force
  • Triangle Strategy

I don't know man, sounds like at least 700 hours of my life will be spent on these games.

The real game is watching the "owned games" number go up, so you already won

Also have fun with SRWV. It's my favorite of the "international era". I wish it was region free

So my playthrough of Stardew Valley continues. Some of the QoL stuff that has been added to the most recent patch is great. One of my favourites is the Golden Parrot on the Island. It allows you to buy all of the missing Walnuts to unlock the Island Features. Sounds like a cheat, but it really isn't cheap. The price does come down though.

Also there is Skill Mastery system. You used to end levelling when you got all skills to level 10. But there is a mastery system that unlocks now, This allows you to take 1 more level in each skill and unlock some really useful recipes/skills/equipment.

So far I have "Only" spent 70 hours in my new playthrough.

I was contemplating buying Blue Reflection Second Light in this sale since I think it was the all-time best price on Steam.

But then I thought seriously for a moment about the list of games (or really just the subset of games in the same genre!) that I already own and haven't played, about how much time I have to play these games, and reconsidered.

I am really getting old :p

Yeah, region lock sucks. They also need to bring T to steam. Feels weird that the last game of the trilogy (loosely I assume) is not on the same platform.

Yeah Blue Reflection is historic low, which is the reason why I bought it. I like the first game but it was mediocre at best (although music is god-tier). Heard many good things about this sequel. Pretty excited to start it.

I also have a number of JRPGs to play. Really need to start digging through the backlog but I just can't resist during this sale haha.[/QUOTE]

Funny you talk about that, I'm in the middle of purging the wishlist.
I considered going for piracy, at least for peace of mind with the ocd, but... I don't have the time for these games :anguished-face:

So why bother ? Why putting tons of data on my PC when I know full well I won't launch them ? I don't even have the time to play the games I buy, why add to the pile ?

This is me being old and neurotic.

I didn't quite "purge" my wishlist but I think during the last chrismas sale I removed 200+ games from it.

Basically, if something was on sale for a substantial discount and I still wasn't interested, I thought about whether I would even play it any time soon (for a pretty big value of "soon", like "this decade") if I got it for free, and if the answer was "no" I removed it.

That said, 3 days ago while browsing the golden week event I added 10 games to the list, so I'm clearly not fully reformed.

I'm all for using the very underused parts of Earth's cultural history, but there's an angle that's both "it won't sell because are not familiar", that is also way too similar to the "no minorities, they should just make their own games and not dilute the racial purity of our games" argument from chuds.

And things are changing, we got just that this year in PoP: The lost crown and Tales of Kenzera: ZAU... and they were published by Ubisoft and EA, not exactly indies.
