There's no rush to get a game day one or even year one, when there's a fuckton of patches and content being released post-release. Getting the goty or complete edition 2 years after the initial release is the most sensible thing we consumers can do. I'm still waiting for the Civ6 complete edition...
Yeah, I totally agree with you on that. And if you buy games on day 1 you are likely to get punished once goty, remastered, definitive or whatever flavour they create gets released.

I would only buy day 1 a few selected games I really wanted to play and/or to show my support to some devs, like I did with The Witcher 3.
Plus, as already mentioned before, there's a huge amount of games backlogged per general rule. That being said, I don't even own 3k games and I bet probably half of them are not really worth to play.

I have completed more games since I came back on steam (2 months) than probably on a full year on past times

Excluding exclusives

After loving H2 and defending it hard, of course I would've picked Hitman 3 the day pre-orders started. Really bummed about it going exclusive. Maybe I'll get it in 2022 in a Humble Choice.
Same here. If the Steam version is not coming to Humble Choice, I probably won't even play it like most EGS exclusives. Hitman 2 is still in my backlog anyway.

What is that guys?

Fahrenheit 451, it’s, uh, pretty self explanatory.
Maybe I misunderstand the question.
It's a reference to the book:

But for real tho, 451 is of course a reference to the book Fahrenheit 451, but its been a staple in Immersive Sim games, dating back to System Shock from 1994, its been used as a numeric code in a number of games, including Deus Ex, Dishonored and Prey 2017.

Errant Signal made a video about this a while back:

in other news, I shouldnt have tweeted about EGSclusivity. I really didnt needed to be called an idiot and other crap by strangers. :grimacing-face: Thank god the Mute button is patient with me and accepts a large number of Twitter users ;)

Holy shit, reading the thread on the 'other forum about EGS.... Wow.

I'm an asshole on this site and I admit that. I magnify things out of proportion, I hold long ass grudges too. I'm actually not that nice of a person IRL as well, (literally made a product sales person, like someone who is trying to sell a product in a store who works for the product manufacturer, talk to the hand yesterday bc I didn't want to play nice)

If I'm the worst this site has to offer, I wouldn't even rate on the 'other place' Straight up someone just tried to shame anti EGS people by referencing their autism and natural resistance to change as not being a barrier to accepting EGS timed exclusives and that if they could do it than other people could too.

Don't go into those threads.

But we still love you. :blobhug:

Jesus. But yeah if there's one thing I learned from ERA is that just because a community is progressive doesn't mean it can't be a toxic garbage fire full of shitty people. I'll admit I got a lot of schadenfreude from the latest drama/blowback against the moderation team lol.

I don't see that place making it in the long run. I feel like it's only a matter of time before it implodes like GAF did.

-------------

As for the Hitman 3 news, really sucks but personally I felt Hitman 3 was coming way too early anyway. :upside-down-face:

I mean, not seriously, but I paid almost a hundred bucks for the gold edition of Hitman 2 and still haven't touched the DLC, so... And I also need to replay the H1 levels and get all the achievements again because I'm an obsessive weirdo about that kinda stuff. Plus, I still want to finish reading the Witcher books and get back to Witcher 3 to play Blood and Wine before Cyberpunk comes out, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for Hitman.

So yeah, I was never going to play or buy Hitman 3 at launch, I can wait. Hell, I welcome the extra year. :p

I've been playing the new Remnant From the Ashes DLC, it's not like the base game, it takes many inspiration from games like the original Silent Hill and Resident Evil games, at least where I'm in the game, the map is pretty much a RE mansion like, with closed paths and backtracking.

I'm loving it.

it kinda already is heading there. feels like every other week there's some crisis of lackluster moderation there. i feel bad for the giant bomb thread, it's one of the few i still read there and they are losing people due to getting fed up with the site with no where else to go.

it isn't actually "progressive" except in the shallowest, hollowest, most performative of ways. the terrible moderation has all but driven off a bunch of the [insert minority identity here] communities, outside the ones who share moderation's shitty politics and lick their boots

I was talking about the userbase more than the moderation team here. But yeah, I guess as more of those communities pack up and leave the userbase in general is likely also going to lean increasingly towards what you're describing.

Do people still actually care about this series? Honest question, This tweet seems so contrived and try hard I can't tell what it's going for or who it's aimed at.
COD Warzone is just about THE most played FPS this year.

I won't deny it - after playing last year's MW recently and being a big fan of Cold War shit, I'm interested in the upcoming reveal. I'm not a big fan of Treyarch and Black Ops though.

Noah Caldwell Gervais described CoD as a game for the working class and I think that’s a perfect description.

Yeah pretty much the only people I often played COD, but mostly BF Bad Company 2 back in the day were like mechanics, painters, construction workers and other working class people, those who arent fully into games but just has it as small hobby.

free game pass, supposedly you can stack multiple. doesn't work with existing ultimate though.
Do this and get 6 weeks of Flight Sim, Battletoads, Spiritfarer, and Carrion. Do it through the Game Pass app, like beep boop said.

lol I think I have gp until 2023. Will my GP outlast the globe? Lets find out.

Are any of you folks pickin up EA Access when it comes to Steam lather this month? I was thinking about getting a month or so to beat some EA games that I completely ignored for years because Origin was determined to crash on my old pc :dizzy-face:
Not sure yet. There are a couple of EA games I'd like to play but I'm not sure yet if I have the time in the coming months.

Sooooo I've been out for a while. I mostly read through the August thread here but definitely missed July and most of June I think. Was super busy with a bunch of stuff IRL and just fell out of the habit of checking here.

In gaming news, I bought what'll probably be the only EGSclusive onto Steam I ever will, barring unforeseen circumstances, in Outer Wilds, and I'm glad I did because it's one of the best games I've ever played, and experiences I've had. It's hands down my favorite mystery / "puzzle" game (like Myst, etc.) despite a few kind of glaring flaws scattered throughout. Most games I would never opt to replay for the first time again but it was magical in this game learning and figuring things out piece by piece and that feeling when things started falling in to place.

Otherwise I've mostly been playing open ended games like Warzone, Neoverse, and Trials of Fire in my bit of spare time. Played a few runs of Risk of Rain 2 with my brother and didn't manage to get the new finish yet. Probably going to pick up Spiritfarer and have that as my go-to couch game for a bit as I continue trying to sort out my new place.
