Finished Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. I felt like it started to come apart a bit by the end, but overall I had a really good time with it. Between this one and Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap, I think I liked the latter more. The former plays smoother (mostly) and there's more to it in terms of pure quantity of game and mechanics, but Dragon's Trap is an audiovisual tour de force and I also prefer its shorter runtime. Oddly enough, it also had fewer rough edges that bothered despite being the older game. Dragon's Trap has been in a few bundles I think, and if you haven't played it yet definitely give it a shot!

Aye, I also preferred Dragon's Trap Remake, it was my 2017 GOTY. Everyone should play it.

Also oh shit, as I was looking up the post with my goty list, I also saw that War of the Chosen was my DLC pick of that year...

How is War of the Chosen already over 4 years old.

watch someone get VR going on the Deck within a week :p
There are (were?) already tests with some devs that got dev kits like Pistol Whip's Cloudhead and so.

It worked, not in the best condition but it worked. Main problem isn't that Deck isn't VR capable, it's that it can't offer a good VR experience.

Mad Max had it's problems but it was fun.

It was one of those games where I thought a sequel with more time and resources could be very interesting.

Of course, another game from around that time that I thought the same thing of was Shadow of Mordor... so what do I know

Even though I heard way too much of it as I was grinding for something or the other in the desert, I think the desert theme is my favorite. I'm not sure there's a song on that soundtrack I dislike. Even the art gallery's background music is phenomenal. Incredibly well made. I wish Lizardcube did something like this for The Legend of Zelda (1) or Adventure of Link. I'd lose my mind.

Are these the actual min. specs or just what they have tested on with whats available in the office?
Pretty sure if you have 8GB Ram or 6 you should be fine still.
Now that Valve ships their own standardised hardware, they should introduce a new unit for hardware specs: DSDU - duct-taped Steam-Deck units.
1 DSDU just means the game runs well on the Steam Deck at 800p, 2 DSDU would be a machine with twice the RAM, twice the bandwidth, twice the GPU power, twice CPU power (via some benchmark numbers) . A 3 DSDU woule be a machine with three times the RAM, etc.
They could offer a Nvidia Now like service to developers that tests how the game runs on a 1 DSDU, 2 DSDU, etc. machine, which is just running the game on some virtual machine with hardware limits to match the required duct-taped Steam Deck units.

gg.deals dark mode!

I haven't used isthereanydeal as much since finding out about gg.deals. Its layout is so much easier to read to me, but the one thing ITAD had that gg.deals didn't was a pleasant dark color palette. Now it's maximum :blobmorning2:

I really need some help here. It is driving me nuts. Steam thinks processes are running, but they aren't. Phantom processes. It doesn't matter the game. Doesn't matter how I exit a game. God forbid I restart the client, yes it happens after that too.

How can I fix this? Only rebooting my system works. Killing steam process doesn't work nor does offline to online >.>

Phew seems we are avoiding a war in Ukraine!
How so? Russia seems to be just moving troops from one part of the Ukraine border to the other.

EDIT. I just entered one of the local news sites and the first news that comes up is "Russia plans to move into the Mediterranean Sea"

i'm thinking of ditching my guild in lost ark (where nobody ever talks anyway) and make my own for my alts, guilds seem useless anyway in this game

Some more notable changes for PC:
STABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
  • HDD Mode has now an auto-detection option. When enabled, it automatically detects which drive the game is installed on, and, if neccessary, boosts data loading and crowd activity at the expense of crowd variety, extra loading screens, and less detail in the streets when driving fast.
  • Added AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) 1.0 algorithm, replacing Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). On PC it can be enabled in Settings > Graphics > Resolution Scaling. The option is not configurable on consoles.
  • Multiple fixes and improvements related to stability and optimization.

PC-SPECIFIC
  • Added a benchmark mode. You can find it in Settings > Run Benchmark.
  • Added a "Toggle walking" option when playing with keyboard. It is activated by pressing G during exploration. The key can be rebinded in Settings.
  • Enabled transparent ray-traced reflections on glossy coating of some cars.
  • Enabled Variable Rate Shading (VRS). This feature boosts rendering performance and visual quality by varying the shading rate for different regions of the frame. Available only on compatible hardware.
  • Fixed an issue which blocked Resolution Scaling on AMD graphics cards when Ray Tracing was enabled.
