Community MetaSteam | February 2026 - Romeo and Rogue: Dead Citadel Requiem

I understand Ending E is new to the story? I have already gotten the original Endings, but to uhh play the last one is an ordeal, to say the least.

After your save data is erased, you have to start a new game from scratch, level 1 and everything deleted, rawdogging the game once more until it diverges late game. At a least it's much faster because I'm skipping dialogue and not doing any unnecessary bullshit.
I know about that one, I asked because MegaApple also mentioned that he had 3 endings left to play, so I wondered if there was new stuff I didn't know about. Indeed, Ending E was far from the worst thing in the game.

The Illiad. Paradise Lost. NieR.

A flawless masterpiece unlike any other.
Story of stories, a written edifice of love and sadness, transmogrified out of our civilizations collective experience.
It is a living, breathing meta-human for it is merely art, and yet embodies all the experiences that seperates man from animal.
Better at loving you than a mother, better at challenging you than a rival.
NieR embodies the sodium lanterns that light your way home.
Every word of the script, so carefully harvested from the vines of common tongues, blended into a wine that even Nietzsche in his most dionysien phase would consider too sacrosanct to sample.

So uniquely composed a soundtrack of music, Mozart would weep knowing he could never even aspire to such profound greatness. Unable to contest Apollo's lyre, brought to us through this game in fashion of the promethean flame. A single spark that set the world of music forever ablaze.

NieR is the beginning of mankind, for human sentience has been merely primal, barbarian even, without this divine text given to us by ourselfs, and yet NieR will also be the ending of mankind, for we can never aspire to create beyond perfection, forever throwing humanity into a fateful decline.

We now live in the year 16 P.N.N (Post NieR Natum) as measured by future scholars of history.

Ban Hektor.

All those ARM based handhelds will be super interesting once there is as simple way to get something like Steam OS on there with FEX to enable arbitrary PC games, in addition to just emulators to run on there.
Yeah, having a PC I can chuck into one of my bag’s pockets, take to work and play indie games at lunch gets so much of my money.

Played around 26 hours of Octopath Traveler 2 but I don't know if I'll finish it.
I got used to the detached nature of the characters/stories, but I feel the grind is a bit much.
Considering that the story chapter are like, 30 minutes? The rest is going around grinding to get the equipment/level for the next chapter.
And since I read this is a 60 hours affair, I feel like 40 of those are grinding levels.
Also I feel like the experience is little, in particular when power-leveling low characters.
Like, a difference of 30+ levels, and at the end of the combat you gain 1 level and half. And this is only going to slow down when they start getting more and more levels.

I feel this kind of old-style jrpgs should be in the 30-40 hours ballpark.
I think Octopath 2 is worth the playtime, but I get it won’t be for everyone and I broadly agree that old school JRPGs shouldn’t be pushing past 30 hours, with exception.

Dark Auction is not very good. I found the writing in the opening to be a little weak, especially the main character’s reaction to something tragic.

Very unconvincing.

So I read a few bits about the plot and apparently it’s a bit too sympathetic to nazis. So yeah, I’m out. Refunded.

Those trains always creeped me out.

On a different note, I can't get over how great the Deck is as an emulation machine.
I have many of my favorite games from several generations on that thing that I can use wherever I want.
And I can launch them from steam and the experience is indistinguishable from playing a native steam game. It just works.

It just works.

Problem is still that not all gpu drivers are created equally. Some have incomplete Vulkan support or are binary blobs. Turnip mesa drivers solve most issues but that sadly does not support everything. I am still looking forward to something like the Odin 2 though.

It's a great game, specially the music
After a month of only playing Nier Replicant, one day, all that was playing in my head was Nier music and I was unable to stop it.

It was surreal, like I was hypnotized.
