With MGS3 and FFtactics now happening soon (Aug/Sept)..I don't think I am gonna spend much on the Seal.

At most just a few Deck gems and some cheap offsite keys.

But hopefully there are some good deals and historical lows.

Of interest to those complaining about the difficulty of this game:
Story mode is our easiest difficulty setting.

Parry and dodge windows increased by 40%

Incoming damage reduced by 10% to 50%
 
It does worry me, every game wanting to do Parry now. One way to make it work for someone like me, is to have a button prompt when the parry is supped to happen. Sure its essentially a quick time event, but it worked well other games for me.
It's definitely a good idea and would make the game playable for more people.

Overall, they should have a recommended difficulty setting for the "artistic vision" of the developer (aka the tuned difficulty that works for their ability), and then let players adjust individual gameplay elements for their personal ability/accessibility.

When developers make difficulty or challenge an "artistic" thing, they're basically assuming everyone is identical. When thinking of difficulty, my preference would be to want to create a certain feeling - that could be a feeling of accomplishing a challenge, or pressure when the stakes are high - and that can be achieved for different people of varying physical, cognitive or situational abilities by tweaking individual gameplay elements.

One person's easy mode is someone else's hard. The emotional takeaway from a game can be the same for everyone without having the literal challenge be the same.

I think one of the better examples I've seen of difficulty tuning, and it's by no means perfect, is the modern ports of Persona 4 Golden (for PC, and recent consoles). You can adjust individual elements like EXP gain, enemy health/damage and so on so basically tune the game to your preferences. It basically makes the game more viable for people who are bad at JRPGs, or are time poor and want to enjoy the game but can't justify the time grinding.
 
I have been playing Everspace 2 lately and I absolutely love it. Just a very enjoyable space action game, I wish combat was a bit deeper but I enjoy exploring every map looking for secrets and just flying around taking in the gorgeous visuals. Highly recommended if you are looking for something in the Freelancer style.
 
Alexandros Is it necessary to play the first one?

Not at all, the first game was a roguelite while the second one is a traditional space action game with fixed maps and a proper campaign. The setting is the same and the overall lore is shared but the story is self contained and you can follow it easily. The game has a full codex of information for the races, places and lore so you can always fill in any blanks with a couple of clicks.
 
I'm in a weird state where I want to play many things, so I play nothing. Executive dysfunction's spreading me thin.
TIL with an RTX 4070 Super, I can finally get a stable 120 FPS in FF Strangers of Paradise. Maybe a decent framerate will work around the game's combat not feeling good.

Things are turning up Linux. Lotsa issues I've had over the year have been resolved at this point.

People also tend to forget just how much of the world does nearly everything on their mobiles. Spend any amount of time on forums or discords with a large SEA membership and almost all of them will be watching videos, using social media and playing games all from their mobiles especially younger people who can't afford or persuade their parents to get them a laptop or PC or console.

I remember seeing the shocked realisation on some forums of just how much bigger the mobile demographic was compared to consoles. I laughed my ass off at some of the statements and that was maybe a decade ago. It's probably much larger now. Sure gaming is a big hobby but it's still niche compared to mobile gaming and time wasting.

I know there's stakeholders and stuff, but even though we can't predict the future there are some failures that are so fucking obvious that it baffles me that gamers can see it clearly but not Sony's executives that are getting payed probably 7 figures to know about the market. Sony's switched focus to Live service games was doomed to fail from the start, and the studios were going to get caught in the crossfire.

They're lucky Xbox stopped competing altogether and that Nintendo is delusional as well, this could've been a brand ending move 15 years ago.

Nothing major revealed that wasnt already shown in the trailer - apart from the fact you can choose between first person and third person views
 
I saw it heavily compared to Alien Isolation and I hope it's just the demo, wouldn't like it this way

I hope so too! The chase/stalker segments in the Resi games are always my least favourite parts – they're tedious and annoying to me, not scary or tense (as intended)

Also I guess the root of the name is "[go] Build a Rocket, Boy" - Claim I've heard is that the name came from an insult that the Houser Brothers gave Benzies when they were telling him his ass was Fired. Honestly makes Benzies seem petty to name his studio after that.

I do wonder if Benzies lost his touch, or if he never really had it in the first place and just had the "privilege" of being legacy-staff at DMA Design pre-Rockstar that gradually wore-thin over the following 20 years until they finally decided he was dead-weight that wasn't shaping-up and it was time to get rid of him.

I actually posted on ERA a few days ago that they would probably allow us to choose the perspective. Great to see that confirmed.
