What, you are saying Q wouldn't be able to invent a target seeking suitcase?:D

But yeah you are right, I wasn't really expecting hitman level of freedom but do hope it is more open than it is on rails.
I think it will be similarly open to the Deus Ex games. You go to a location, have side quests and little things to explore while you’re there. When you choose to progress the story the game takes you on rails with a high-paced action sequence.

Been waiting for news on this one for a long time. So glad to see a Steam store page!

Zero PC ports announced from Sony

FINALLY Sony has come home to its loyal fans who were always there. Fuck those PC Pirates.
I know you’re joking, but I bet we get some PC ports announced in the next couple of weeks.

PlayStation fanboys who still haven’t accepted this new normal are gonna be in shambles for more years just yet, I’m sure of it.

Also I'm seeing a lot of people complaining "it just looks upscaled", "it looks the same" and so on and I'm here so happy it's not some 2DHD garbage with hyper bloom. It's a fucking remaster, IT HAS to be the "same"

I CANNOT humanly put into words how happy i am that it's not 2DHD, the objectively worst art-style in videogames.

looks like they put some annoying filters on the sprites, so pretty uggo. Just hope people on PC can remove that crap.

Is the link to its storepage from:

Its the same App ID (At the bottom of the page)

My big hope was always that whatever they gave us with FFT and that it officially coming to PC is that it would get modded by people to fix what they inevitably fucked up or didnt do correctly in the remake or remaster (When it didnt get officially announced)

Now that it's known that it's a remaster or whatever I hope it has the battle phrases for spells/abilities

View attachment 131
knowing my luck it wont, since they said the classic version is just War of the Lions and that ripped them out of the game

Of course a barebone remaster is 60$ lol

Genuine question: why some of you want to see blocky graphics and count the single pixel in retro games? I can get the preference for some reason but when you played those games in the '90s the graphic was filtered by your CRT TV, you were not supposed to see those models unfiltered in a HD monitor

I don't follow. It's because you weren't supposed to see the graphics unfiltered on a HD monitor that people appreciate pixels. But obviously the game has to offer a good crt filter to go with it, which is rarely the case.

In fact the position imho is not a desire for unfiltered pixels but a huge preference for no filter over bad filter. Like, you just have to take a look at the latest remaster / remake of Tactic Ogre to see what people do not want.

Fun show with lots of diversity. My highlights:

- Sea of Remnants

Most pleasant surprise for me. Presentation looks phenomenal and turn-based combat is the perfect cherry on top.

- FF: Tactics

I know it's been rumored forever, but seeing it confirmed with footage brought back a wave of nostalgia I wasn't expecting. Looks great!

- Everybody's Golf Hot Shots

Easily my most anticipated Sony release across the board. Awesome to see a release date and I can't wait.

Oddity:

- Romeo is a Dead Man: The opening cinematics had me on the edge of my seat. Wildly-varied mediums with over the top antics. Just amazing...Then they showed gameplay and it looked like a bog-standard 3rd person character-action game slightly reminiscent of Dead Rising.

It felt like a bit of whiplash where I'd LOVE to see a cut-scene movie, but felt little inspiration by Suda's gameplay loops. Not for me but I can see it working for most.

Great show either way. Happy for the fans!

I am enjoying God of War: Ragnarok, but some of the pacing choices sure are interesting. I feel like plot is still being set up and I am 15 hours in? They keep having the character focused segments that grind everything to a halt. The achievements during the main story are comical too. You will go 5 hours without one popping and then have 2 pop within 10 seconds of each other (both are unmissable).

That showcase was insane. I didn't tune in, but there's so much I'm interested in. It's nice that basically everything shown is coming to Steam. Kinda unreal how much the industry's shifted to PC in the last decade.

GAME referring to?
Game as a slang term originally meant one's skill at picking up women (and still does in some contexts) but now more generally means confident skill at a task (frequently used in a sports context).

Like "Person X has got game. They scored 20 points!"

The origin of the thing is a quote from Shaquille O'Neal a retired American basketball player while he was interviewing a current player and said "I owe you an apology. I wasn't familiar with your game." To which the current player felt rightly insulted and called Shaq "a casual". Very gamer like response, and the quote has become a meme format now.

It was nice that they got John Tobias on there in the MK trailer as well. I don't know what happened between him and Boon back in the day, but he definitely has a place in the documentary.

Also great to see new Bloodstained. Funny thing is that half of the trailer I was wondering if this is a new BS or did Konami get someone to make a new Castlevania in 2.5D. :toucan:

Also great to see that Nioh 3 is steamy day 1.

Maybe I'll some day play FFT, but I'm kind of more curious if they do work on the soundtrack.

Was in the mood for some mindless action so decided to give Evil West a shot.
It's a pretty decent brawler. Level design and presentation are straight out of the PS360 era but the combat is solid.
Runs well on the Deck. 60 fps with medium settings or 40 at high.
Nice to fill the gap until my Deck gets taken over by Raidou.

My brother might pick up Stellar Blade so that will probably be my next game on the desktop.

I'm definitely getting Cyberpunk during the summer sale, can't wait to finally play it.

Apparently there's Switch 2 stock everywhere. LMAO
Good? It's June, it will sell out once grandma needs a present for her nephews during the holiday season. Nintendo just has to hope that this time she read the number 2 and understand that it's a "new Nintendo console", so they don't have another WiiU situation.

Not all that excited for Keighley tomorrow.

Its worth watching for Kojima on stage and possible Silksong ofc. but yea I'm guessing it will be a lot of ads and other forgettable pub dumps. Hopefully some gems come out of it.

I'm more excited for Xbox and PC show on Sunday. See what Bethesda announces for the final Starfield expansion and ofc stuff like Fable, Perfect Dark etc. PC show is always the place where steam wishlist gets activated too.

I still think a Sony PC announcement can happen at Keighley or PC show.

iirc they did that before were they didn't do a PC announcement at their show but shortly after elsewhere.

I've given up on Souls games. I used to be good but age caught up with me.
I'd be down for Demon's Souls though, I played it so much on PS3 that I know the game like the back of my hand.
This is kinda me. I think Sekiro in particular broke me; I finished it but I really wasn’t happy by the end.

I’ve less free time now than years ago and don’t particularly want to spend it on a genre that is deliberately hard and that I feel I’ve had my fill of. Shame :disappointed-face:

Don't feel too bad for me Sekiro is by far the hardest and the least flexible souls game. Parrying and doing mikiri counter all the time was so unintuitive for me. I still love Souls games but I didn't obssess over beating them over and over again like I did with the original DS1. All the other games were one and done for me, including Elden Ring.

I might be loosing interest in kingdom come 2, which is strange since on paper it should be my dream game. Right now I’m on a mission where together with some knight I have to kill a bunch of Cumans but together we can’t even manage one. I love open games but man when it locks you in a completely impossible roadblock.

Since I got the super-long-embed issue again on this page, here is how to fix it if you are on Firefox:

  • Open your Firefox user profile folder, and create a chrome directory in that
  • Create a file called userContent.css in there (or open it if it already exists)
  • Put the following content in there:
    CSS:
    @-moz-document domain(metacouncil.com) {
      iframe[data-s9e-mediaembed] {
        max-height: 750px !important;
      }
    }
  • In about:config, turn on toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets
  • Restart Firefox

So we are almost at the halfway point of the year, what is everyones GOTY thus far?

For me, I know what I wrote on my post above lol, but on a good day its KCD2 if I just manage to push through my problems with it, other than that I would say Atomfall, that I enjoyed through it all.

Screenshot_20250606_103851.webp

This is actually quite a good representation :) The ones I liked the most, I played the most.
But not all of these are "real" 2025 releases. The Accolade collection consists of very old games, Wizordum has been in Early Access before; TLOU2 and Pocket City 2 have been previously released elsewhere; and both Stygian Outer Gods and Hordes of Hunger are in early access.

Blue Prince for me, with KCD2 and Clair Obscur being phenomenal as well

I’ve been thinking about how much I love the 1080p display on the Switch 2 and my ROG Ally more than the 720p OLED on my Steam Deck and Switch OLED, and I think I’m ready to jump to a 1080p daily driver.

The ROG Ally’s battery sucks too much for it to be my main. What’s the recommended 1080p Linux (Bazzite or SteamOS) supported handheld out there right now or on the horizon soon?

Not sure about Raidou deluxe edition. I generally don't fuck with deluxe shit, but when there are morsels of lore or some light content in an Atlus game I'm a sheep.
That being said, the content description doesn't sell me dreams here.
