I love Gravity Rush. It's a shame that Sony are doing the same they did with uncharted and skipping games that weren't native PS4 releases. It's funny because GR1 also got a PS4 remaster but is getting ignored just like the uncharted trilogy.
GR2 was a much more ambitious game than GR1 but some design choices did drag it down a bit. Still, it's a wonderful game and Kat is simply the best.

To be fair, with this much time between the two games, you could make a case of the new one being a relaunch of sort. I'm pretty sure the aim is to check if the franchise can hold, not to innovate.
2 months after Forbidden West is really fast. Sony picking up some Steam now :sneaky:

It feels like DD2 has always been a release for the hardcore fans of the first so it makes sense that its not some big new innovative sequel.

The fact that this took so many years to get made pretty much makes it like some typical passion project to give people more of the same.

And to be fair the systems from the first game like the Pawns, day n night, spellcasting and climbing monsters was pretty fun. And worth revisiting for any big dev imo.

Also Capcom isn't really an RPG dev. Everything they make is action centered and they have kinda been stuck in limbo making the same games with slightly better graphics for decades now. The only real innovative thing they've done with success was RE7. There is that Path of the Goddess game too so we will see how it turns out.
You guys aren't wrong it's just really disappointing that this seems to just be a near 1:1 copy of the original game all these years later. I mean on console you don't even really get that much improved performance by the looks of things, it seems like it'll be 25-30fps most of the time lol. At least there's no letterboxing this time.

I'm not saying we needed this to be some grand $200m adventure but unless I'm missing something we can't even call this an iterative sequel, it doesn't seem to be doing anything new. There's playing it safe and then there's just doing the same thing again.

Can people stop banging on about Ghost of Tsushima now? No more whinging that [insert PS port here] is not that game.

You all get to see what an insipid Ubi-like it is.

Excited for Gravity Rush 2 tho.
seriously this

it's another Ubi-style open world just like Horizon before it, I don't get the fuss

Horizon as in Zero Dawn? I liked that game...not sure you can compare it with AC. I mean at a high-level sure, but then so many other games are the same no?

It was the first big budget open world game in feudal Japan that I know of. In the grand scheme of things it might just be another open world game, but the setting was unique enough that I still had a lot of fun with it. With Rise of the Ronin and Assassin's Creed Red releasing this year people might not look at GoT as fondly, but it's still a well made game.

can't deny that point much tbh but then I'm so utterly sick of the genre at this point and can't think of many that are really shaking it up outside of BotW/TotK and Elden Ring

What I do want on PC though is Killzone - I loved that story. Might even want it before Demon Souls.

Guerrilla is most likely waist deep in making a new Horizon or maybe a new ip now by now...

But yea if they bundled all 3 Killzone games and ported them to PC with unlocked fps. It would be such a good FPS package. And they could even add Shadowfall to it and turn it into like a MCC type of thing.

Sony really does need to open up a couple of new studios and have them focus solely on porting all their classic 1st party games from 1995-2015. It such a profitable and important business model. And it would flesh out their current dire output because the PS5 really doesn't have much 4 years in. And the PS6 will have even less.

Gimmie all the Killzone games, all the inFamous games, Sly Cooper 1-4 (yeah, even 4), all the Ratchet & Clank games from PS2 right up to the modern era, Gravity Rush 1 & 2, The Last Guardian, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

You know, all the good IP Sony has killed.

We didn't get Uncharted 1-3 that had PS4 ports and you all want PS3 games? xD

Yeah, Sony's PC porting is currently being led by what they're releasing (or have released) on PS5.

So we'll get PC versions of those games when Sony thinks it's worth making PS5 versions of them. Which might as well be never seeing as the accountants have now taken over PlayStation.

We are enow in which decade of PC gaming, overall 6th, in form closest to today PC gaming and this topic we are in like 3rd decade. And while you could say that many of those years were rough for PC in past 10+ years we reached point where PC is popular and for the most part well served platform. Yet publishers/developers due to lack of things to use in advertising just list basic PC features a this point.

At this point in time following features should be in game by default:

  • Arbitrary resolution
  • Unlocked framerate
  • Mouse/keyboard support
  • Gamepad support
  • Key remaping
  • Ultrawide screen support

Upscaling tech (DLSS, FSR, XeSS) is still new and supporting all 3 is nice point. But if these are only features you offer for PC release then you need to do better. I am realy glad and happy that we get more PC games than ever but a bit more care towards PC would be really nice. Adding more advanced features (Ray-Tracing, Extra and enhanced settings like Unobtanium ones from Avatar...) is something that should be considered and done. And then using that as marketing points.

So there's this twitter user who apparently was the first one to leak the Ghost of Tsushima PC port, as well as other things like Microsoft games going to PS5 (He also leaked the last State of Play before it happened). So take all this info with all of the grains of salt that exist lol:

  • Starfield coming to PS5 on Nov/Dec 2024. With plans to bring even bigger franchises on 2025 (Big yikes for Xbox lol)
  • FF Tactics Remastered will come by the end of this year
  • The Last of Us Part 2 to PC is very close (this one was an easy one since the remaster launched on January)
  • Demon's Souls will come to PC as well but "It's not the right time yet" (????)
  • Hasn't heard of anything related to Kingdom Hearts coming to Steam (LMAO gg)
  • Silent Hill 2 should be released this year
  • Multiple GOW projects are being worked on right now. Even outside of Sony Santa Monica (Somebody asked for a GOW remaster but they didn't answer that directly)
  • Bloodborne is being worked on, but it's not a simple remaster so it will take time (FML)
  • FF IX Remake could be facing some major changes internally could be a couple of years before we hear about it.
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2 is to be announced in a mid-year event (PS5 exclusive so no day and date just yet).

Nothing on Gravity Rush 2 since that comes from a different source who apparently have played tested it

I don't know if this gives any credibility to this leaker but The Snitch (Insider wtf) and Jason Schreier follow them

What happened with the screenshot manager?
I had heard bad things several times and assumed what I experienced was it. Maybe it’s an issue unique to me. Basically when I open it there are no screenshots or game list and it takes an eternity to load correctly.
Today it didn’t even load and all I got were black rectangles. Steam then sorta froze and I decided it was time to get away from the computer and not waste time on the task manager.

I don’t have other issues with the PC these days (usb excepted but pretty certain that’s just the pad having fallen off a little too much).

That sucks. I don't remember having issues with the screenshot manager after the new one was released, I found a possible solution that may be worth trying Steam screenshots manager absolutely broken :: Steam Discussions
Some Mega Man Legends vibes and it's a 3D metroidvania, that's just enough to grab my attention.

  • FF Tactics Remastered will come by the end of this year
Hope this is true as I love TRPGs.
After so many years of people not shutting their mouths about how great it is I'm ready to put that to the test. In their defense they said the same about Tactics Ogre and that was indeed a great game, so let's see if lightning strikes twice.

What's this now? You want diversity? You want fun stuff? You'll get all the over-the-shoulder-third-person-open-world-action-adventure-with-light-rgp-and-crafting-mechanics-sony-games and you'll like it!

I'm joking around with the subject but it's actually pretty sad the state of big budget games are in when everything is just a blob of same mechanics in different environments and with different characters.

I've never played an AC game and the last Far Cry I played was 3, so I've never had this Ubisoft fatigue or whatever you call it.
I feel like people burn themselves out on a particular genre and then go around bashing everything that is similar just because they're tired of playing stuff in that genre.
GoT is a fantastic game.

Eh, I wouldn't be too quick to get happy, any random user could have copy pasted the yuzu github and made a page like this, do they actually have any/good devs (they even state to be in desperate need for some) and how good people are gonna volunteer now knowing Nintendo may take action and without a patreon income source involved, might end up being like other underdeveloped emus that have gone nowhere fast, or fold like the other fork called nuzu did already. For now all the forks are just the last version of Yuzu (and Citra) and that's all we have for sure. Maybe some half decent programmer will be making hacky fixes for certain games that release and don't work out of the box but the work around is obvious but for real in depth emulation updates, we'll see.

If it makes you feel better, FFT is basically (a simplified) Tactics Ogre with an FF skin. The story beats, the battlefields, the way classes work, the characters. The Tactics Ogre influence is everywhere. Makes sense since the same people worked on both

And so, the dream lives on.

Nintendo about to go after the country of South Korea now. (The red and blue flag, bad joke).

By the way is Killzone hype or is it okay? In the halls that are the FPS greats where does it fall?

I do think the design of the Hellgatz do stand out. The IMC? Not so sure about that? Or is that Titanfall?

I remember my cousin let me borrow his copy of Killzone for PS3 and oh boy where the controls for it weird. Other FPS games at the time already had a better controller scheme and yet Killzone just didn't something different that was kinda meh.

That's being said in a different time line it's Killzone that shows gamers the light. They are the ones that introduce flick stick to the masses and FPS games are forever changed. Sadly that didn't happen and people just hated having motion controls in games.

I was planning on playing it but it's currently not part of PS Now sadly. The PS4 Killzone is part of it, but not the others.

That’s what happens you choose to indulge the whims of people who lose their shit over the reflections in a puddle.

The push for ever diminishing graphical returns drives your game’s budget up, and with great budgets comes great homogenisation.

It’s the worst Sucker Punch game, bar none.

Sony should’ve given us inFamous or the Sly trilogy.
Luckily for fans of Sucker Punch's older stuff, Nixxes said in their PSBlog post that they had managed to port the Sucker Punch in-house engine to PC (that's why it took so long to do this port).

That should greatly increase their ability to port future games with less lag time, sure, but it also opens the door for older titles like the rumored Second Son port. I'd buy a Second Son + First Light combo pack on Steam!

Watched the xbox partner preview. I love the format of these shows. No-nonsense, straight to the point.
One game even listed the GPU and CPU being used for recording the footage! Should become standard.

Alters from 11bit looks fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

And STALKER trilogy on consoles? Never thought I would see the day, but it makes sense. Just hope controller support will be backported into PC versions too.

I tried using my OG Switch for the first time in ages. It's "small and light and has good battery, so that's good. And that's also as good as it gets compared to every other "handheld" that has come after it. It's technically a hybrid system, which would also apply to a lot of the UMPCs that exist.

The bad, which is really not all that terrible and was improved upon by the OLED model.

The OG model doesn't have good audio. I was using it and was thinking. Wow, is this really as loud as it gets? I was also looking at the screen brightness, is this really as bright as it gets? In booth cases it was a disappointment, but from my understanding the OLED model is much brighter and the audio is improved.

If you compare the OG Switch to the OG Steam Deck (both of which I have) the battery is better on the Switch, and it's lighter. How ever the Steam Deck has better audio and is brighter. How ever it's not as color accurate as the Switch is.

The Steam Deck OLED, is more expensive than the Switch OLED, doesn't have a battery life as good as the Switch OLED, and it's heavier than the Switch OLED. Otherwise a lot of the stuff that the Steam Deck OLED can do is better than the Switch OLED.

So one is $350 and includes a dock, so I guess that means the Switch OLED stand alone is $270? So $70 more than a Switch Lite? If it was to be sold without a dock.

Meanwhile the Steam Deck OLED is around $500+USD after tax it's closer to almost $600? So yes it's better but it also cost twice as much.

So reality what can Nintendo do in order to keep cost down? The next switch sounds like it won't even have an OLED screen at all in order to keep cost down. But what other corners will they cut? I would image that at most it would cost $400 VS the $500 that the XSX and PS5 cost.

As soon as the Switch 2 comes out will almost all third party support be dropped for the switch? Or will it actually be BC and that's what to an extent they went after YUZU?

I have many more questions and I wonder how it will play out.

They could definitely go the Valve route selling separate Dock and not bundle one. That is probably the easiest way of keeping the system at 400$ because 350$ will be generous with new Nvidia tech.

____

I think it will be similar to Wii-U ===> Switch transition. Nintendo will release a big Mario or wtvr game on both Switch and Switch 2. Maybe one other big game like the new Metroid Prime.

After that they will abandon it and discontinue the Switch in 2026. They still have one black friday in them to dump a cheap 100$ Switch lite on people before calling it quits.

3rd party support will die out too for anything that is graphically demanding. Indies will feast tho because there will be 150 million Switches on the market plus the new Switch 2 will push 15-20 million units in first year.

I know EA is not the most popular publisher out there (and I agree with that sentiment) but I just beat Immortals of Aveum and thought it was fantastic. Really solid shooter with a really interesting lore and world. Solid 12 hours of gameplay for the main campaign and non-linear design, The dialogue is a bit cringy with the typical Marvel humour that's not my cup of tea, but it wasn't as cringy as I thought I would.

I highly recommend it if you can get it for $25 or less. Great graphics as well, sadly it won't get a sequel because EA sucks ass, but it definitely deserves one.

It sucks that since EVGA stopped making GPU's, no vendor has stepped up to match their Warranty/Replacement. EVGA was the GOAT for that. :( Who is the next best GPU Vendor? I'm in the market for a 4070ti Super, but no idea who to trust...

Also glad Nixxes is on the GoT port. Excited to see what it looks like on unrestricted hardware.
