It's getting warmer and warmer, it's time to start building my annual summer dancing playlist!:D I only try to have fresh tracks, only exception is it is a remix of older song but the remix is current year.

Not many thus far.

I'm listening to something that's not directly from the 70's. What's happening to me ?

Some things i picked up from Bandcamp today:

I really, really like The Still Corners and had forgotten they had an album out recently.

Those Who Ride With Giants are a new find for me so i picked up his two recent albums

The spice must flow... DVNE are great and another recent find for me. For those that like a harder sound compared to the others here.

I enjoyed The Still Corners song you posted.

DVNE's Thirst was also interesting. Some sections reminded me of Gojira (both because of the harsh vocal fry singing and the proggy composition; e.g., around 1:50), other parts were black-metal (e.g., 0:39), sludge/stoner (e.g., 6:30), post-metal/blackgaze (e.g., 4:50). I liked it!

Given your recs, you might like this song (especially at 2:20):

Really liked that MØL track and had a listen to some of their other stuff. I'll probably pick something up this weekend. Thanks.

This morning i've been recommended this by youtube. Nice and nostalgic. For me it was always Speccy/C64/Amiga/Atari i thought of when people said video game music, I was never really exposed to the NES/SNES music til i visited american forums.

The song you posted reminds me more of stuff I've heard on the Amiga than on the SNES (maybe because of the unhealthy amount of cracktros to which I've been exposed)!

I know I've mentioned Master Boot Record in the Steam Thread and, after a quick search I saw that Ruvon mentioned them twice in this very thread back in 2019, but I'll post this song again because I think you'll enjoy it:

Edit: about MØL: I had no idea how to pronounce their name... luckily I have a Danish colleague who explained to me that the letter Ø sounds like German Ö or the English "I" in bird. It means moth.

BlackRainbowFT It is an Amiga/ST track.
I've swapped my statement around in my post so it makes it a bit clearer that i'm a eurotype from the 80s/90s and just like you i spent far too much time watching scrollers and listening to chiptunes and tracker music in cracktros or demos. People like BBC (Bad Brew Crew) and Automation and tons of others i've forgotten. I had Atari and my mate had Amiga so i heard both scenes. I'm sure one of the guys i knew at college was a member of a crew as i saw some messages in some scrollers that made me wonder, but i never asked.

After listening to The Last Exit by The Still Corners i think it's ok but i prefer two of their previous albums. I'm addin Last Exit to my playlist so i'm sure it'll grow on me as i play through stuff over the next few weeks.

Oh I get it now. I had misunderstood your post, sorry.

I've never met anyone directly involved in the scene... My father knew a guy who was merely involved in the proliferation of scene releases (...he just used X-Copy a lot...) and he's the reason why I had like 300 Amiga 500 games. On the one hand, I have fond memories of that whole experience because I found cracktros to be mesmerizing. On the other, my collection is 95% worthless.

About the groups you've mentioned (BBC and Automation): I was totally unfamiliar with them. I looked them up on pouët and they seem to have only released stuff for the Atari. I mostly saw cracktros from Paradox, Fairlight, Hoodlum (I think), etc.

Ahh, yeah. I was an Atari kid so most of the crews i remember would be from the Atari scene but i do remember Paradox, Fairlight etc from my Amiga friends.
I had an STe and still have my old Atari Falcon. I remember i sold my Atari STe and my Roland Sound Canvas to get the cash for it. I also remember being given 3 big disk boxes full of games when the guy i borrowed them from either got new copies or gave up the scene, i forget which. It was decades ago but i still remember going round their house and having mini LAN Parties with our machines set up back to back and playing Falcon and some other games multiplayer via serial cable. Good times.

I have my MindCandy DVDs around here somewhere... bloody hell that was a while ago! I used to put them on and listen to the tracks while doing housework and stuff now and then.

Very space ambient and sounds good for background work music. I just found it.

Apparently some "Bangers" for the Brits among us though i'm sure plenty of others have their own versions of these they had to mumble or shout through. Our favorite trick was to sing one word ahead or behind the rest of the assembly, sometimes it was super-effective at disrupting the singing. We often had teachers standing at the end of our row giving us the "Go on, try it." look. Good times.
