Looks like Mangastream is permanently down. Not sure why, most probably personal matters.

Is there any other sites that have quality scanlations? I need the weekly manga fix!

How about the official ones :p
Both viz.com (VPN required if you're not UK or US) and https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp have the last 3 chapters of the ongoing shonen jump series and others for free and update on Sunday. (There are also some fully free on mangaplus)

Only issue is that it’s only Shonen.
oh, how I long for something similar for another genre.
 
Damn, I’m pissed at how things turned out.
Aggravity boys was shit tier, then 2 was bearable but still stupid, then 3 was full on pathetic.
And Zipman which started quite good is joining the shit list with 3-4. Nothing makes sense, the adversaries are nonsensically wrote, it’s a fucking free fall from the starting issues.

Me pissed.
 
Just stop getting into shonen
That well dried out even before naruto.and bleach ended.
Wait for a shonen series to end then jump.into it.

good time to catch up though, lots of story progression lately, although I guess it's new year so it's also a bad time, lol.

That being said, after a few super vain first chapters where the characters seemingly have stripped the shonen genre to the bone and JUST WANT THINGS, BECAUSE, the worldbuilding has been very nice.
 
My re-read of the series really opened my eyes on some stuff
For one thing, prior to entering the Grand Line, Luffy is a very competent fighter. He may be an idiot but he knows how to fight, and isn't disadvantaged much by his opponents. His first real test of skill was against Crocodile, and from there they just kept getting stronger and stronger.
Enel/Eneru could harm Luffy due to heat from electricity and Foxy merely smacked Luffy with a lot of shit but that hardly stopped him much.
Luffy is one stubborn teen.

10 Dance is a manga series about 2 beautiful men teaming up to teach the other a specific style of dance in order to participate in an event.
It may sound silly but the humor, art and interaction between the 2 main characters really sell the series.
 
Finished Arlong Park, it was great overall.
Just read Fairy Tail v02, and unfortunately it was very hollow. Gags aren't bad but story or character wise it's paper thin.
 
I shoul really catch up on my DC comics @_@
But the next Green Lantern TPB isn't for a few months last I checked :blobweary:

Some thoughts on my last manga readings.

Death Note ch9 was... there. I don't hate it and can see my interest maybe pick up, but I have long lost any pleasure to read about the latest set of crazy 'rules' the author comes up with.

Zipman ch6 was kind there too. I'm beginning to fear that the potential I saw in its first two chapters was a fluck. I loled one time, so I guess I can't totally hate it.

Agravity Boys ch4 continues to dig its hole with an enthusiasm you can only respect. Homosexuality is lolrofl, let's make it the butt of our jokes. I'm not perfect, I can read bad things, I'm not as woke as some... but what the fuck is this shit ? Seriously ?

Undead Unluck ch1 wasn't a bad read at the moment. But at the same time the whole death angle was sometimes in poor taste and the fanservice is the most in your face I read in some time. As a story I can see it being bearable, but a whole series ?


I suppose I should start by dropping Agravity Boys like the flaming hot piece of shit it is.
 
I dropped Agravity Boys after skimming chapter 2. Not for me.
Zipman is alright, the transforming school was hype, but it's also not really something amazing.

Undead Unluck was... eh. Kinda interesting idea, but not sure how this will work in the long run and the fanservice was questionable. "You bring bad luck to everyone who touches you? Awesome imma grope you real quick" :/

Mission: Yozakura Family is probably dead if you look at the rankings. Which annoys me, because I think it had a ton of potential, but the mangaka just wasted it all.

Demon Slayer brought the hyypppe this week. Like this boss fight has been getting old for a while, since he's just been wiggling his arms for months now, but this week was legit hype and I hope he does something else soon.

Chainsaw-Man featured a lesbian harem and a german pedo assassin Santa Claus this week :thinking-face:
You gotta admire Denji's simple mind as well.

The Table of Contents in the magazine which is kind of a fuzzy popularity ranking (japanese readers can send in a postcard with their top 3 chapters every week iirc), I occassionally take a look at it here.
It's no hard science, but a general rule of thumb is that if a series is constantly ranked towards the bottom there's a good chance it will get cancelled when the next round of serialization starts (which is now) to make space for the newcomers. Yozakura hasn't really been doing hot the last few weeks, so it could be a goner.
Of course this also depends on if any and how many series will get cancelled and other stuff, and sometimes such series turn it around and become a hit.

Just gave another chance to Chainsaw Man after only reading the first Jump batch at the time.
Still not totally sold but there is indeed room for it to be enjoyable. Monster design is grittier than I would find 'usual', sorta like Jujutsu Kaisen, I like that.
 
I think Arlong Park turned me into a fan of One Piece.
Just started the next arc and it’s a ridiculous combo of villains. And the comedy can be seriously good.

Also found the Italian Mickey Mouse Ghost Detecitve magazine. Except I can't read italian but still, I'm glad it exists.
 
3rd new Jump series Guardian of the Witch started today and I liked it a lot.

I hope it keeps going strong.

Zipman is whatever. It has cool ideas and moments but that's not enough. The side cast is very lacking. The villains are lacking. I dunno.

I've also mostly stopped caring about Yozakura Family.
