I'm catching up on SnK I am on chapter 102 and there currently seems to be 138 chapters. Is the manga over already?

I know that they are doing the final season of the anime and from what some one told me there is now way that the final season will cover everything in the manga.

As to how I feel about the series after taking a almost 4+ year break form it (It was around chapter 95 that I stopped reading and that was on 2017 or so) and I never bothered with season 3 of the anime. I just watched up to season 2.

Right now this is sort of reminding me of Tokyo Ghoul RE. I was not a fan of that ending and this is sort of giving me that type of feeling again.

Both sides should just be defeated is how I feel.

there is final chapter coming within a month (ends at 139), 102 is iirc the Liberio attack b the scouts , so you got tons of explainers and other contents before you

as thing go currently , the final season seemd to land at around chapter 116 of the manga with current pace , there has to be "Part 2" to cover the remaining story ... but nothing officially said yet

Starting to watch your seasonals towards the end of a season is comfy (well I started some a bit earlier, but then waited again and technically some are going to still run for a season, but still!)

Slime Isekai season 2 is as good as expected.
No surprises with Re:Zero Season 2-2 either, excellent stuff.
Caught up with Spider Isekai, great stuff as well. Aoi Yuuki is just killing it with her Kumoko performance, it's a delight.

And caught up with Back Arrow too and continue to dig it. It's an initially simple enough set up that is used to great effect and there's always new stuff expanding on it, with fun characters, nice action and a nice dose of comfy and absurd stuff sprinkled inbetween the action and conflicts.

How can you call yourself a mad scientist if you don't have your personail choir singing while performing your inhumane experiments?

This season has a surprising amount of stuff.
Still have Wonder Egg Priority on my list and there's a bunch of other potential stuff too.
Yeah, this season is pretty fun. I still need to watch Back Arrow and Wonder Egg Priority. Slime starts pretty weak but the upcoming episodes will be great.

My favorite show continues to be Dai's Adventure. Old-school shonen is so gooooood.

Gundam 0079 is on crunchyroll, so there is that. But evidently SDF Macross is not available in France. I'm super fed up with this streaming world.

Other than those two, are there must watch ?

Oh no, I don' t think they have Macross, and they INCREDIBLY added Gundam to the French site (you just have to view it ENG subbed because apparently translating more than half the episodes is too damn hard).
I saw traces of Macross on Amazon Prime, but evidently not on the French version.

The Fafner franchise.

Unfortunately the beginning really isn't all that good, so it's a bit of an investment you have to trust will pay off eventually, but it turns into something absolutely incredible.

The first series, Fafner of the Blue Sky is eearly 2000 (2004 to be exact)and kinda feels like an Evangelion knock-off initially, it also doesn't look all that great.
About halfway through this season (it's 25 episodes) they had a change in writer and it immediately gets a lot better and comes into its own, and it's only an upwards trajectory from then on.

It got an 1 hour special in 2005: Fafner: Right of Left
Then a sequel movie in 2010: Fafner: Heaven and Earth

Then a sequel season in 2015: Fafner Exodus (2 cours, 25 episodes total)

And sequel movies to that in 2019: Fafner: The Beyond (I have not watched these yet)
The 2nd half of the original series is good, Right of Left is good too, but it really only turns really good with Heaven and Earth and Exodus was my AOTY at the time, it's incredible.
They're all direct continuations with one continuous story, so you kinda have to start at the beginning and can't really jump in with later seasons like in Gundam or Macross, which is exacerberated because you basically have to sit through an entire season's worth of not really good stuff. It's totally worth it, but I know it's a hard sell.

The series has (later on...) a great story, very good character moments and development, hype af action, good music and it's really pretty looking, etc. The whole shebang. (It's also really tragic). It's leaning more towards the Super Robot side of things.

This is how the original series looks like:

This is how Exodus looks like:

Should be noted that Mechs are CG after the initial series. It looks very good and has some great action coreography though.

Here's a clip from Exodus (spoilery I guess, but with 0 context it probably means nothing to anyone)

Maybe that can serve as some motivation to power through the first season :grimacing-face:
(Somehow that video doesn't work as an embed, needs to be viewed on Youtube directly)

all this mecha talk ,reminds me i wanted to check Symphogear , which got shileld to me pretty hard few seasons ago because of XV airing ...but its a lot to go trough :dizzy-face:
Everyone should watch Symphogear! Season 1 is a bit on the weaker side (I'm noticing a pattern :thinking-face: ), but it's great dumb fun.

Shame that there aren't any such convenient hype clips for the older seasons.

Hey I watched an anime ! Two episodes, even !

FLCL
OAV #1-2

What the fuck did I just watch ? :cryblob:
I pretty clearly remember dropping the thing like a hot potato after 1 ep at the time of release. Now that I know what to expect (to understand nothing) I think I will endure. Artistically it's pretty glorious, so there's that. And there seem to be many, many, layer to this narrative cake.
I wonder if by the end I will barely even have a grasp on the plot.

This is arguably one of the best Gainax productions for me. Captures the chaos and confusion of adolescence perfectly.

Yeah, I can see that they went full force for that chaotic feeling. What with the incredible pace of scenes or the multi characters dialogs at the same time.
What I wonder is if I will be able to make some sense of it. Beyond being confusing because of its chaotic nature, it seems super rich.

I'm quite interested in Mamimi, the female friend. She is... complicated. Like everyone, lol.
Is she attracted to the hero by proxy, did she set fire to the school, so many layers.

Yeah I think I'm coming to term with the idea that I should read the original material before watching an adaptation. I read far too slowly and there are so many things to watch.
That being said, not sure the 'gritty' aspect of the manga drawings has translated well enough. I really like the creature design in the original.

I finally bit the bullet and bought an external UHD BluRay drive for my PC as there's nowhere in my new case to put an optical drive and the first thing i watch was... Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. there's a couple of "Eh? Why did they do that ..." moments which i assume/hope were there for satire/parody but aside from that i needed a whimsical, daily life type series like that and enjoyed it.

I also watched Macross Zero last week and whooo that one hits. I have the DVD set somewhere and found some eps online so i'll start watching them this week. I'd forgotten just how many series there are in Macross and it's been at least 10 years since i've watched any so i'll essentially be going in fresh.

I plan on digging out some disks from my DVD/BluRay storage and rewatching some old series i have. I also have some codes for digital distributions and a Funimation Trial which i may as well redeem some point before it expires.

I saw FLCL years ago and all i remember is that i bounced off it a few times until i was in the right mood and then it drew me in. Of course i remember nothing about it apart from it being very surreal at times.

My young brain dropped dead at episode 1 of Macross Zero. Imagine watching that in an era where CG was barely present.

I can't believe that the series is being cock-blocked from an international release even now. It's a freaking dumpster fire of rights at the moment and it's a shame. The series is nearly 40 years old but i'm sure there's money to be made by whoever can release stuff if this dispute ever gets settled.

I mean, Macross Zero looked great and that's nearly 20 years old now too.

I was thinking about it some days ago hypothesized that paradoxically old shows may be harder to buy rights from. Copyright mess is one thing, but these shows being the first exposure of the west to anime, there is a nostalgia goldmine there and the right holders must be greedy. Which, is, uh... not really a good plan because all they will get is the shows growing older and more separated from younger audiences, and a drop in value.
All this is certified 100%
from my ass.

OTOH I watched FLCL #3-4 and it's very 'insert all the confused gif, everyone of them'
I really liked #3, as it was mayybbee more grounded, more clear, more of the same and I got used to it. Then the creators upped the weird for #4 :sweaty-blob:
Really not sure I will understand anything from the show, which isn't an issue I suppose, but ffs I would at least like to barely understand who the heroine is.

Edit -
Oh, the music and overall soundtrack is phenomenal.

Edit 2 -
Oh, I have to say I took 'Nothing can happen until you swing the bat' as a personal attack.
Kidding, it's a great line.

FLCL always drew people in with it's music and art and then confused the hell out of them and bounced them away with the actual show. Ever since launch people were talking about that aspect. There was a lot of "Style over Substance" posts back then as people didn't get what it was going for. Which is fine.

I would say the issue for 2021 me is that I'm convinced there is ample substance (even substance use), but good luck to get it. I often find myself wishing for it to be on a written form, where it would be less hectic and offer itself to an easier deciphering.
I know, there was a manga.

By, the way. Those eyebrows !

Nobara in the finale

:ohyeaht::ohyeaht::ohyeaht:
Yeaaaaaah, all of it was so fucking good. She absolutely killed it (no pun intended).

Re:Zero also finished this week and it was a great ending too. I think the 2nd season was somewhat scattershot and very flashback heavy, but ultimatey still really good with a lot of amazing moments.
Also White Fox is just killing it, they basically made it all 30 minute episodes and barely even used the OP or ED, to the point where there's a couple episodes worth of extra runtime crammed in this season.

Caught up with Back Arrow, Spider Isekai and Slime Isekai too. All good too.

In this instance, I didn't reply because I really disliked two of those shows, and I figured I may as well keep my mouth shut :p. Darling in the Franxx was nice at the beginning but I dropped off around episode 9 or 11. Promare was middling from what I saw. BNA, I haven't seen.

So... yeah ^^".

I didn't like Darling in the Franxx right from the beginning... Sorry :disappointed-face:

If you want recent mecha shows, I would recommend Gundam Build Diver ReRise. It is a slow burn so you need to push through the whole season 1 before getting the amazing season 2. However, it is totally worth it because season 1 is indispensable to the fantastic characters and story development in 2.

That was awesome. Different from Gridman but at the same time has a similar feel to it, really digging it.

Also Back Arrow has kind of turned from "this is pretty fun" into "actually, somehow this is getting more and more awesome" without me noticing.
So many badass characters, but the baddest of them all has to be this old man, Emperor Zetsu Daidan.

He rules so much (pun not intended). I guess he's the "villain" currently but somehow it doesn't really feel like, same with the other "villains" under him that are also badass. It's great.

Yeah, so...

FLCL
All according to keikaku. I have just a fragile grasp on what it was all about, so many layers intertwined with nonsense and super obtuse narration.
I can't say I'm not a little bittersweet at how selfish the heroine is painted in the final episode, but that's relative. Thinking back about it now I think I would have liked a longer series with a broader focus, the whole town and cast of characters are endearing.

PS. Big lol at the father saying how it was super hard to do the manga sequences and how everybody told them they were lazy for doing them. Truth.

SSSS Gridman
Good, solid, opinion still on hold though. Could be a very good show or just another solid show. Some plot points are quite dark, but at the same time when it wants to be goofy it doesn't hold back. 'My name is Samurai... Calibur.'

JOJO6!!! YESSSSSSS!
What's really neat is that Jolyne's voice actress, Fairuz Ai (she's pretty new) became a voice actress bcause of JoJo Part 6.

Fairouz was born on 6 July 1993 in Tokyo,[2] to a Japanese mother and an Egyptian father.[6] She was named after the Lebanese singer, Fairuz. She spent a few years of her elementary education in Cairo before returning to Japan.[6] During her junior high school years, she became familiar with the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Due to her growing interest in the series, she would join Skype reading sessions with other fans.[6] Eventually, she was inspired to pursue a career in voice acting, but her parents initially disapproved of her plans. Instead, she would initially study at a graphic design vocational school before spending a year as a dental assistant.[6] Once she was able to save enough money for tuition, she enrolled in a voice acting training school.[6]
Must be really happy now. Although she wanted to voice Foo Fighters, and not Jolyne. Almost!
"Q: Your Egypt stories are very intriguing but let’s get back on track. When did you decide that you wanted to become a seiyuu?
A: I returned to Tokyo to enter junior high, but I found that I didn’t really fit in. That’s when I first came across JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I was reading it and thinking ‘Everyone is fighting for what they believe in or fighting to protect something. But I am only thinking about myself and that’s no good’ – I realised that my troubles seemed so trivial by comparison…

Q: Which arc were you reading?
A: The 6th part, Stone Ocean. I was greatly encouraged by reading it, thinking ‘I’ve gotta be strong like Jolyne!’. I started meeting fellow JoJo lovers online and it was common for fans to post videos of themselves reading the lines from the manga. I’d take part in JoJo-related Skype reading sessions and got a lot of good feedback. I was really happy, and these recitals made me feel like I was a resident of the JoJo world…the sessions were only held sporadically but I was impatient and I ended up reciting the entirety of Volume 1 of JoJo by myself – not only the dialogue but the sound effects too. While I was doing all this I started thinking ‘I should become a seiyuu for real and appear in JoJo when it gets animated!’, and that’s how I got started on this path.

Q: So if they do animate the 6th part I suppose you would definitely be going all out to voice Jolyne.
A: I want to be Foo Fighters!

Q: Not Jolyne?
A: Jolyne is the one I adore. So I want to be Foo Fighters, the one who lends her a hand."
