New week, new thread! What are you playing?

Continuing Super Robot Wars V. Passed the 30-hour mark and reached Scenario 22. I'm following a guide to get all secrets so I know the total number of Scenario. There are still over 30 left. :face-with-cold-sweat: After this playthrough, I plan to start the NG+ and play the other route, too. So there's a ton of content remaining. On the other hand, I also finished watching Cross Ange. Fun show. Embryo has to be one of the most pathetic villains I have ever seen. Dude is downright disgusting so his defeat in the final episode was very satisfying to watch. Oh by the way, he just started to show up in-game. I can't wait to beat the shit out of him. Salamandinay also showed up and she is my favorite character in the anime (easily), so I'm quite excited to welcome her into my main party soon.

Back to the game, SRW V was very easy at the beginning, but I am pleasantly surprised that it is getting harder in recent Scenarios. Scenario 21 was a huge fight and served as a turning point of the story. Really look forward to playing more.

Finally starting Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch 2 yesterday. Haven’t played enough to pass judgment, but this is my first Legends game and I do quite like the real-time battles.

I finished Dispatch on Friday, which was amazing, and I beat all the Grand Prix races in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, so that game goes into my “dip in” list now rather than constant play. I’ll try a few online matches and DLCs, but I am technically “done” with it.

I hate almost every pokemon game and even regret getting some of them in price mistakes because of how boring and ugly they turned out, but legends arceus and Z-A (based on what I played) are great. Z-A's music is also excellent. SV on Switch 2 BC is worth trying though.

I was a fan of the games when I was younger, but I was disappointed by SwSh, so I skipped the SV games.

May try them out on Switch 2 in the future.

It is worth trying to get the game + DLC bundle on a discount when you can. I've noticed it is a bit cheaper to import from Asia than buy and those cartridges have most updated builds also if you care about that stuff.

I'm playing:
  • Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak : I wanted to play some RTS (campaign), and I had this one in my library. I really enjoy the persistent fleet aspect, and the sensor view is also interesting. What isn't great is that the game apparently has a crash bug since release where mission 3 (specifically only mission 3) crashes sporadically when you have shadows set to a higher setting. I have no idea how that can remain unfixed over years of patches, but it is.
  • Nightreign DLC : Which is really neat, and I like that they understated the amount of content before release (I still wish they had added the ER DLC spells though)
  • Atelier Lydie and Suelle : On and off, this is a really long game if you try to basically master the alchemy, because the system is very good. But that also means that you can spend a ton of time crafting a single "perfect" item, and there are a lot of items to craft.
  • Reverse: 1999 : This just had a new content drop, and I really enjoyed the new main story (which is a horror thing on a train from Istanbul to Vienna in 1912 at the start of the Balkan wars).

Playing several small games in between The Hundred Line.

Maid Café on Electric Street - A comfy ADV game where the protagonist manages a maid café after quitting a black company. Features famous JP VAs and references to indie games, both JP and western ones. And it goes without saying, plenty of otaku references.

Girls Made Pudding - A roadtripping ADV game with "Girls' Last Tour" vibes. It has survival mechanics and the music is haunting.

Kemono Teatime - Another ADV game, this time with kemonomimis. It has a sad undercurrent not unlike Hookah Haze. Excellent pixel art and direction.

Re: Super Robot Wars V

Half-way into the game, finally starting to see EVAs and Angels. Although the units and story in-game are based on the new movies, I might still do a rewatch of the TV series because the only thing I remember is that it was much grittier than the movies.

Finished Jack Move.
It's a quite nice and compact turn based RPG with a cyberpunk theme. Absolutely gorgeous, nice music.
The writing can be a bit over the top sometimes.

Finished Night Call just now. It has a good idea but execution doesn't always quite work. You are taxi driver listening to stories of people and also trying to investigate a serial killers on the side, but your client tend to reset for each "mission", so you end up with repeated encounters way too much. There's also a freeroam mode where you could probably beeline some of the customer stories more easily if you wanted to, but I don't think the writing isn't compelling enough for it all. The presentation is minimalistic and that works quite well and the soundtrack is alright.

Also started and finished Vane the other day. Liked it, it's quite alright. It's a bit of a Journey like, I guess.

Now I'm not sure what to play next. :thinking-blob:
Been trying to focus on my A-Z list and the letters I have left are M O R U X Y Z. Turns out that trying to find games that start with some letters is kind of tough, even more so if you narrow it to shorter games in order to finish one from each alphabet and you have 2 weeks left in the year. X and Z in particular are troublesome.
But I guess in my defense I didn't start the A-Z thing until like 6 months in and didn't grandfather in any of the games I beat earlier in the year. :toucan:

I think I'll start RiME.

Me after finishing Honkai Star Rail patch 3.4

I get the broad strokes, but the specifics make my head hurt. I think I'm gonna start the KCD 2 DLC for something simpler.
