I’m really starting to dislike Valve’s attempt at these sales events as of late. Last year’s Lunar Sale was probably their best attempt: you automatically got a $5 coupon to purchase anything you put in your basket $30 and above, the emotes weren’t as high priced as they are of recent. I think they can do a lot better at planning but ehhh.

I hate living in the middle of nowhere. I would love to play TTRPG's but there is so little people into such things here and every time someone tries opening a FLGS it goes under within a couple of years.
At least you still have the online option if your are fluent in English and not socially anxious. Not thinking about someone in particular here :anguished-face:
It's surely not 100% of the real life exp, but with a nice group it should be interesting.
Maybe some people would be up for it here.

Haha I've been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder since I was 11 :( It's hard to open up and be calm around people I'm not fairly familiar with, so I'm not sure how an online game would go, I would be down to try though.

The way these coupons are being handled is far from great. Like, $5 each $30 adapted for regional pricing was pretty good, decent at least, Summer Sale wasn't also that bad.

Two $5 coupons for spending $100 is just meh. MEH.

Preach brother, I'm so socially anxious I don't know if I could say a word. It would not help my case that I'm a Frenchy that never really spoke English. It would be wild for the poor ears of my co-players :p

Yeah, Valve got too fat and lazy as of late. Our man Tim should work harder.

Seriously though, these coupons are a pretty bad deal. They didn't give you any points for buying stuff using your Steam Wallet during Winter Seal and now they want you to spend shitload of money before giving you any extra discounts. This is really dumb.

How many times in our monthly OT have people asked to stop talking about Era? It's a bad look.

Take it to PM's or something if you must.
I've grown tired of saying this every time it happens. Think I'm gonna start reporting posts that do that, I don't want this place to become another shitposting forum.

Yup, I get that they did it to combat exploits, but I can't shake the feeling that it wasn't worth it.

It would have been nice to get some amount of coins from games bought during the Winter Sale, which happened less than a month ago. I'm not asking for the whole amount, but somewhere between 5%-10% would have been a cool gesture. Especially when you notice how expensive every item is, and realize you've bought so many games in December that there's no point in spending too much now.

"On China’s Twitter-like Weibo platform, many joked darkly about the similarities between the games and the real situation. “The best way to get rid of fear is to face the fear itself,” wrote 17173, a Chinese game news site, commenting on Plague Inc.’s sudden rise in popularity. Some users said that in order to have a more immersive experience, they chose China as the origin country that exports the virus to other regions in the game. Others felt especially connected to the fake news scenario in Plague that allows players to use modern technology and psychological tricks to spread misinformation about the virus. "

Red Dead Redemption 2 received a substantial boost after launching on Steam. Digital unit sales more than doubled from 406K in November to 1.0M in December. The game became available on Steam on December 5, one month after releasing elsewhere including the Epic Games Store and Rockstar Games Launcher. This brief exclusivity window was advertised in advance, so many players simply waited a short period to play the game on their preferred launcher.
Huh.

So this data is wrong?

Or Superdata doesn't count Rockstar Launcher number?

I don't really agree with most of the coupons thoughts I read online.

The way I see it, for a decade or so a sale "just" meant that you get discounted games. Now it means that you get discounted games and if you spend a chunk of money you get an extra discount on top of the normal game discount. I find that hard to complain about.

Edit: I should mention though that I really don't care about the cosmetics, so I'm looking at it as if that wasn't a thing (i.e. to me the sale currency is only a means to a single end which is the extra discount).

I think, haven't Valve did the entire thing differently before, nobody would've complained about it now, it just happens that they changed their coupons system for worse.

Yea people really need to stop using playtracker, superdata, or wtvr other stuff is out there nowadays. They aren't reliable.

Just do the steam user review multiplier thing for best result. Multiply the number of reviews by 25-50 and you should get a good enough educated guess.

So RDR2 has 45k reviews on steam. So that should give you 1-2 million sold.

Also doesn't playtracker use data by way of Xbox game bar thing? And isn't that only a Win10 thing? So they most likely aren't even tracking windows 7 and 8 users which make up like 40% of steam users today.

i'm like 120% sure LittleDinamit does WAY more than just pulling and posting raw numbers from the gamebar ... just saying

I can't find the tweet, but Zeboid games dev posted a while back and some dev(s) on Twitter mentioned you can multiply Steam reviews by 50 (pessimistic) or up to 100 (optimistic) to gain somewhat accurate sales numbers.

Even if all these people are using better metrics...I still find it hard to believe they would all of a sudden have accurate data from individual storefronts on a month by month basis. Seems like too big a of a leap for it to be happening as of late.

EPIC and Valve are both private companies. Anything coming out of EGS should be looked as noise until they themselves post infographics. And even then those infographics need to be carefully examined since they fudge numbers using free game accounts, moneyhats, fortnite etc. And with Valve the only legit data we have is # of reviews + their end of the year platinum, gold, silver and bronze lists.

With something like Rockstar game launcher I don't see how anyone would have their data except Take-Two right now. Their earnings call in a few weeks should be the only reliable source. Assuming they even mention and not fudge their numbers too.

Stop. You’re ruining the magic for me. Is that what you want? Me to lose faith in magic?

If anyone has some of those Blue Coins Gamersgate has when you purchase or rate a game (I had, and mostly forgot about them), this game is cheap, and may be worth the 350 coins it costs (you can get 100 back by purchasing it, and rating it):

The game is also on sale on Steam:

Oh yeah, I had completely forgotten about those! Turns out I have about 5k blue coins. This Fort Zombie game seems to be dirt cheap and somewhat "interesting". Guess I'll probably grab it and proceed to immediately forget that I ever did
