just go in knowing it is a CW show compared to netflix/hbo max.Going to start watching Stargirl, but after binging both Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol I'm little worried it will be boring.
Yeah watched two episodes now and its not that bad, will continue!just go in knowing it is a CW show compared to netflix/hbo max.
It has a bit more cash behind it compared to the standard CW show seeing as it originated on that DC streaming service. I quite enjoyed it, Luke Wilson is great.Yeah watched two episodes now and its not that bad, will continue!
if you stick with it and start S2 it gets much more compact pace wise and is easily a step up from S1I was interested in finally checking out The Umbrella Academy after having read the first TPB of the comic, which I was way LTTP for as well.
Knee jerk reaction : what the fuck did I just watch ?
Long, long, so very long, every scene takes an eternity, why the hell did you go for that runtime when you obviously didn't have to ?
I said Doctor Who was slow and that you could cut a good 10-15 min off each episode if you got rid of the filler.
WELL, I'm sorry, Doctor, there is a new King in town.
How can you make a scene so slow and repetitive that even Queen can't energize it ?
Then I read the first episode of the second TPB and nope, the book storytelling isn't anywhere close to that. And they also quite toned down the weird bits about the original work. Maybe understandable, a litteral adaptation would maybe not work well, but still, it's sanitized.
Really not sold on watching episode 3.
Man takes me back, used to watch screen savers religiously back in the day, before it was G4 I think?
That's surprising.I was interested in finally checking out The Umbrella Academy after having read the first TPB of the comic, which I was way LTTP for as well.

Firstly, let me say I'm glad we can disagree on our perception of the show's merits without arguing. You allude to several interesting aspects.Interesting points !
That describes how I felt about GoT many times. So I understand where you are coming from.I can't help to anticipate the next. A feeling of having to go faster because damn, I already read that. Yeah, it might play a part.
When I meet my wife and we watched a new show together, that I picked and it turned out bad I tended to apologize. Until she laughed and asked me if I wrote the script?I always wrongly feel responsible for the entertainment of the other people watching.
That's interesting. I enjoyed the scene because it showed of his teleportation power and his combat prowess.Like the firefight in the cafeteria for example, far less out there than the original.
Just one of my personal quirks. I can stand in awe for a long time getting lost in a painting, picture or a natural scenery.I still can't help but think they often veer on the longer than necessary side.
Oh no, I'm sorry. I didn't want to spoil anything to you. I thought it would be kind of similar enough.your spoiler about Vanya is just plain fucking wrong to me.
Have you watched Black Lightning? Really good superhero show IMO.Going to start watching Stargirl, but after binging both Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol I'm little worried it will be boring.
Will keep Black Lightning in mind! Yeah Stargirl was alright but so often I got little restless and just did stuff on my phone at the same time. So it is very light entertainment, as alot of TV is.Have you watched Black Lightning? Really good superhero show IMO.
Just treat these CW shows like...Young Adult stuff. Long as you temper your expectations, you'll likely enjoy them.
I aim to watch Stargirl someday too, since I hear the first season is good.
As you guessed it's just an aesthetic difference, nothing big. And a plot one I guess, but again, minor. That's interesting. I enjoyed the scene because it showed of his teleportation power and his combat prowess.
He was quick, deadly and effective. But as said, I have no point of reference , especially regarding aesthetics.
I'm now even more curious about the comics.
No issue here. I opened the spoiler tag willingly, knowing that I had read the first volume of the book and that I could be spoiled if the show borrowed from other volumes or created its own plot point.Oh no, I'm sorry. I didn't want to spoil anything to you. I thought it would be kind of similar enough.
They are clearly a dysfunctional family of super heroes in the show. I also feel like I'm the only one having this opinion about Vanya. Most people seem to like her.
They aren't mercenaries here either. As far as I understand it they were time travel agents, after all one of their weapons could be matched to a murder case from the 1920s (or so, I'm bad at memorizing dates). In the comic books the aggressors are not hired mercenary
I would have said 1938 but could be wrong. Now that you mention it I may have misunderstood the whole thing, I took it as common mercenaries being employed by the time agents, but maybe I was just thrown off by their 'normal' attire. They aren't mercenaries here either. As far as I understand it they were time travel agents, after all one of their weapons could be matched to a murder case from the 1920s (or so, I'm bad at memorizing dates).
Absolutely true, though if I may add that the first season of the arrow was more like a crossover between superheroes and the denver clan from the 1980s.Just treat these CW shows like...Young Adult stuff. Long as you temper your expectations, you'll likely enjoy them.
Nice character design, not sure that this is the best casting choice in the current climate. I'm not against disparity like these - Kratos is voiced by the immense and awesome Christopher Judge after all and he couldn't be more appropriate - but these days... It feels wrong.
Hmmm....
