As someone who has never owned a console made by Microsoft, I have only mentioned what I know: XGP for PC and XGPU. That is why I made the OP this way.

But yeah anyone with GP Ultimate really needs to check out the microsoft rewards thing. I get points enough for 10€-15€ each month.

Need to use the game pass app on the phone for the challenges for reward points.

It's what I used, well the XGP install anyway. But I already owned the game on Origin so I think this just added a layer of complexity for poor EA Desktop. I'm not even sure the game even acknowledge me being on XGP. It seems so as I had a popup saying yeah new elements added, but I can't find confirmation anywhere.
I would really like to buy it just to have the game on steam and forget about this, but the core issue isn't XGP, it's EA Desktop.

The butt of the joke is that I installed via XGP more for the metro tile than the bonus content, as I won't be keeping a shortcut to the game on the desktop and will forget it's installed. Turns out EA games on XGP don't do metro tiles.

I have subscribed to XGPU for 1 month for 1 € in order to play The Forgotten City on xCloud. So far, so good!

I have checked on HLTB and this game is 8 hours long. So I could play Sable afterwards, which should be about 13 hours long, during this month.

Hmh not sure if using rewards points to get more Ultimate, it would pretty much pay for itself. Or if is better to use the points to buy games and then do the gold to ultimate trick. That would be cheaper option but you still need to use actual money.

But doing the math, reward points pay for monthly Ultimate OR buying one year of gold and then one month of Ultimate is like let say 60€.
If I do buy the ultimate then I have to be reserved 10€ per month to spend on games, that's 120€ per year. So using reward points on ultimate I miss out on 60€.

As you see it best for you. Just don't become someone who gets angry at GamePass because he has spent money to purchase 3 years of Gold and regrets it.



To me, GamePass is that 1€ deal for 1 to 3 months, so I cannot imagine spending more than 12€ per year for it. That is why I don't mind the occasional hiccups.

Ah I love game pass haha, since I only play on xbox I never have issues with it and I always have something to play.

Only thing I wish is for game pass and Age of Empires 4 be on Mac!

If it works as I suspect, it would be a good idea to:

1. buy 1€ of XGP for 3 months,
2. then exchange reward points for 1 month of XGPU.

This way, I would get 4 months of XGPU for 1€ and 12k points, right?

It is hard to imagine finding a cheaper system to benefit from:

• a library of games, including day one releases like Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, etc.,
• a cloud gaming service.

Geforce Now for 5€/month was already a great deal, which allowed me to play Cyberpunk 2077 with RTX.
This would be ~ 1€/quarter, without having to pay for the game. The only downsides are i) no RTX, ii) the need to wait for a good deal (not a problem so far).
