People are reporting there's no quit button in the Steam version of Super Meat Boy Forever.

Is this true? 👀

people didn't notice this on EGS version? or did they fuck up steam version?

Edit: I'm blind, someone said epic version had one lol

Interesting read on why NFT's can't work for cross game skins and whatnot. Nice read.

Also even if I didn't currently think 99.9% of NFT's are scam based, the fact that EA & Ubisoft want to be in on this scares the fuck out of me.
Aye. I only skimmed through it because its fairly obvious why cross-game NFTs wont work. the "lol no" at the end is a good summary though :p

Hey Mr Shinoda, I own this little piece of music from a song of another artist, you are totally fine into adding it into a Linkin Park Song, right? I mean I own it so I should be able to add it to any song I like. It isn't different than fucking believing that an item from an Activision game can just be used as an item in a game from EA.

There's literally nothing about NFTs, and crypto for that matter, that isn't complete bullshit at the moment.
I guess it fits our time well, that the new hip technology is just built on hype and literally doesn't stand up to a few seconds of basic scrutiny.
There's a pretty good write up by one of the designers of Signal (the messenger app) and a cryptography researcher that shows how much of "web3" is ultimately of the same nature as the centralised services that make up "web2", and how little of real cryptography current applications that deal with NFTs use.

It doesn't provide any value that you can't already get with existing technology, easier, vastly more efficient and more securely. People just desperately believe this is the next big thing and want to get rich fast. Once it's more and more clear that only scammers make money off of this, it will be gone overnight. The only reason crypto and NFTs are so popular, is that 90% of the people don't understand anything about it, and its success depends on this being the case. the dying light time thing to me is hilarious

If the game is mediocre/just alright a low time is great
but if it's amazing people are going to bitch that they want more and more and that it's going to be too short

finished TOCS4 and my playthrough of all 4 cold steel games back to back is done, I'm really going to miss all those characters and in 2023/2024 I'll definitely replay TOCS4 after the Crossbell duology and before Reverie

now it's time to replay yakuza 0 (for the third time!) and kiwami 1 + 2 before jumping into 3-6!

My findings with my new GPU are... weird. I think my computer is super CPU-bound right now, my old Ryzen 2700x is hitting its limits. Trying RT in most games, like Control or Amid Evil, it obviously hurts performance, but that isn't alleviated at all by changing the resolution in DLSS. Is that normal?

In better news, Doom Eternal runs and looks phenomenal, at least when the game isn't defaulting to Ultra Nightmare settings for some reason. And I can finally stomach Horizon Zero Dawn, since DLSS deals with the flickery look of things perfectly.

Linkin Park guy has no idea how game development works and probably thinks that moving an asset from one game to another is an equivalent amount of work to editing a sample into a song or a clip from one movie into another

I need to talk with the guys at Nvidia behind Minecraft RTX and ask why literally everything has to be reflective. Including carpet and leaves. Seriously, it just looks fugly, but the ambient light stuff looks so pleasant, augh! Why is this official thing like some shite fanmade mod that has no sense of actual art direction?!

Because it was made to showcase the RTX thing and not as a holistic thing. You already knew that though.

I take solace in the fact that there are plenty of games, like the vast majority of them, that aren’t interested in NFT’s. the bubble will burst as countries start banning harmful mining techniques and the companies have to go through their first CS:GO gambling moment.

And if it does take off-there are probably still plenty developers and publishers that will avoid the crypto/NFT rush. And history has shown many more will rise up to take the place of those who don’t.

My final thought is this, EA, Acti, Ubi and anybody else who is interested in NFT will probably soon realise that they will need to give away far more than they are willing to, to attract the attention of the NFT/Crypto bros.

A practical way of determining if you are being limited by the CPU in a game is to drop the resolution and see if performance increases proportionally. For example, if you play at 1440p, you drop the resolution to 1080p and performance stays the same then you are likely CPU bound.

Not normal, dropping resolution is the main way to get better fps when using raytracing. Your cpu could really be the limiting factor in some games now though and rtx having a cpu overhead probably isn't helping. Don't know about Control but i ran into this in Cyberpunk at launch with a 3700x where i had to reduce some cpu settings if i wanted to enjoy rtx.

Well, looks like Aquario Clockwork isn't the only thing coming to Steam after all, Cotton collection is also coming to the platform.

Let's hope the ports are good, I've read they have some input latency stuff happening.

It's interesting that Valve is promoting a game after the devs signed an exclusivity deal that was meant to boycott Steam. I guess the Steam version outselling the EGS version is the only thing Valve needs to make a statement. :)
Valve probably don't even think about it or care in the slightest. Follow-up to popular game is on sale? - - > Post.

seems like they mentioned the steam version in their "we will release input lag fix" tweet at the end of December and even pintpointed the release date to end of jan/start of Feb

“Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute” for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 (including the downloadable versions) will be released in late January or early February 2022.
The Steam version will be released at the same time.
so the input lag issue shoudl be fixed in steam versions MegaApple

Yeah, it probably is.
I'mma wait until the new generation of Ryzen chips drop, with the AM5 socket. Right now I think the 2700x is in that uncomfortable spot where it's struggling with high-end games, but there's nothing I can upgrade to that'd be worth the money right now. (Plus I'd wanna wait until I'm getting paychecks for that...)

It's not too big of a deal, I don't need raytracing. Better performance and DLSS is all I need.

Not too surprising as the team focused so much on the long-shot cinematic experience during development. I would say it is understandable that they are maintaining what they originally envision even on PC.
I thought the point was to have the game be a long continous cinematic shot, you could still do that with a wider FOV. I don't know if it would break something, but then you could put it as an option and warn people that it could break.

Yeah, it is one long shot so that there is seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay. I honestly doubt it can transit smoothly if player can change the FOV.

I would say a mod is inevitable. Probably not a hard thing to realize.

If the game wants the same FOV in cutscenes and gameplay, then it's probably very hard to change this and ensure every single cutscene still looks good. Technically, you wouldn't even have "cut"scenes then anymore, if the camera never cuts away.

Really, the software partially raytraced solution by SonicEther looks a lot better. I don't think Minecraft RTX's solution has enough rays per pixel for the GI to really pop. Everything looks flat most of the time. They went with shiny because without that it would have looked even more basic.

Yes, you are right. Me calling the narrative segments "cutscene" is not accurate.

Let's see how this goes. I find the original camera angle a bit weird in a game with tons of close-combat, but maybe it works well.

I also hope they add an FOV-slider. Just generally, without having checked out footage yet :p
Artistic vision is great and all, but if I cant stand to play a game because its got a sickeningly narrow FOV, I say screw it and mod it :p Besides, higher FOV hardly destroys artistic vision anyway.

Console devs need to understand we sit MUCH closer to a PC monitor than a TV where youd play console games. And I thought after this has been repeated ad nauseum for years, devs would finally get it. FPS and TPS on PC need FOV options (and motion blur OFF).

In case of GOW, I will need to wait and see if it runs via Proton, anyway.
