I remember waiting for game patches on magazine cover disks or on a BBS or even in the post. I hated Steam at first vs boxed games.Hey, remember the "good" old days when you had to hunt around the net for patches, most certainly having to sign up on various weird or sketchy sites to download the patches?
Let's make gaming great again since Steam destroyed PC gaming.

One more reason to just stop giving those gaming bloggers any clicks. So it was just PC gamer being shitty.
I set mine to touch only cuz clicking on the d-pad led to so many unintended inputs that it wasn't worth it. It somehow feel pretty decent after getting used to it.And that's why Steam Controller is the best.
(Expect D-pad)
It is incredible how they threw away their credibility in four monthsOne more reason to just stop giving those gaming bloggers any clicks.
Looks nice. I wonder how good it will play though.
You need to get new friends. My friends will never not give me shit for my love of the Steam controller.
Where I see limitless possibilities, they see endless hassle. Somehow setting up custom controls for every game in my Steam library is a bad thing.
I'll never understand their logic. Those jokers don't even listen to Deftones.
Exactly, it's rarely ever critiquing the industry or games, and when people do it's either hailed as a great thing or the author is torn apart for not giving fans what they want (Metroid Other M review from G4 for instance). How can we expect these writers to bring a real critical eye to anything now if they never did beforehand. Most of it is just glorified blogging and/or advertising...
I like reading factual things about the gaming industry... not chunky bullcrap like "The best Hearthstone Rise of Shadows decks so far" or "Why raiding is the biggest reason to be excited about Destiny 2" taken from our friends at pcgamer.com, Unless the definition of "journalist" shifted to just "person who writes about things for other people".
Edit: I missed the last part of your message. I'm not aware of a pro-consumer rational website... When I want to deep dive into some more complex topic, I usually watch GDC videos or browse websites like Gamasutra. When I just want news I usually read the PC Gaming thread on Era (and before that, it used to be GAF)
I mean apart of been Yakuza, the reason I need 6 is that I want to know how damn are they going to resolve the ending of 5.I know the ideal "compromise" between you and OSatan : both Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 6 should be ported, and launch at the same time.
My wallet might weep a bit, but I would gladly buy both.
Would someone in the editing staff not have wanted that cleared up, or was it left vaguely worded for clickbait? To say I'm annoyed with that PCGamer reporting is an understatement.
Damn. That looks fun
Well, it's Valve, so I would never expect them to make something quickly. Hell, they talked about Revision 2 like five years ago, at least it feels like that long ago. I could see them "perfecting" it internally for another five years before it hits the shelf. On one hand it's kinda amazing that Valve has the time and money to work on whatever they want, but it does have the drawback that they don't have any incentive to stick to deadlines.Didn't Valve recently file patent for it? It probably is coming.

It's too bad.Just your daily reminder that Freedom Fighters is not available in any digital platform, even with IO holding the rights (apparently).
My time in games writing leads me to believe that either the press release they got was vague/confusing (this happens a lot actually), or the writer and editor just rushed through getting all the details right. It seems like a simple enough story so they wanted to get it out front of everything. It's a mistake that can happen pretty easily, but if you have any doubt about what's going on you shouldn't go running the story without looking for some kind of clarification.Would someone in the editing staff not have wanted that cleared up, or was it left vaguely worded for clickbait?
Played it back in 2014, it held up okay. PC version had less features than PS2, but story mode was still fun. Of course, that was 5 years ago (!). If IO releases it on Steam / GOG, I'd love to see the features from PS2 and maybe some rework on textures / effects, but I'd be okay with just Steam Cloud and achievements. It's too bad.
I don't know where I placed my disc, so I have been hoping for a re-release for ages.
I'm not sure how well the game holds now, but I had a lot of fun when I played it.
I would happily take both, but it depends on how much SEGA wants my money I guessI know the ideal "compromise" between you and OSatan : both Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 6 should be ported, and launch at the same time.

I don't see anyone complaining about its ergonomic quality, though. Most often people (if they are critical of the Steam controller) just don't seem to like giving up on sticks and using the pads, which seems like something that you would need to give some time before really passing judgement.steam controller looks so uncomfortable
It's the best way to play FPS/TPP games with a pad.It always did look pretty weird, but the user testimonies.
i believe they only own the IP, not the game itself (as in: they can make new ones if they want, but they can't re-release the old one because EA owns that)Just your daily reminder that Freedom Fighters is not available in any digital platform, even with IO holding the rights (apparently).
KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!the solution is to have a mouse + pad hybrid, obviously
It's just a very sloppy implementation on part of Arkane. I used that mod too, mostly since the camera controls are so bad in their implementation of the Steam Controller API. It's hard to describe, it's like they are only polling at half the frequency or something, and it ends up feeling super latent.I attempted to play Prey (2017) with my 360 controller... Apparently, you are forced to activate Steam controller API to use a controller in the game. So I had to exit the game, and activate that for the game. Back in, the official 360 controller profile designed by Arkane is loaded automatically!
"Nice!"
I end up in the menu, I can control the mouse pointer with my right stick. "Interesting choice..."
I then find out, I am completely unable to click on any menu button, since "click" is not mapped to anything on the controller. "That sucks."
I double check the controller profile, can't find anything mapped to clicking. Re-import the profile. No dice.
I decide to load my old save using the enter key.
Game loads.
I can controll the camera fine with the stick, except the sensitivity is off the charts. I then attempt to use... Well, any button at all on the controller.... NOTHING works.
Nice "official" controller profile. I check PCGW, and it list some kind of controller hack mod you can enable to force the game to use regular Xinput instead, but that it shouldn't be needed, since the controller issues "should be solved" since some patch...
... and be sure to play the real Prey (2006) as well!I attempted to play Prey (2017)
gonna be exclusive ... they're doing it on UE4 and they REALLY need the money
I'm in the beta/alpha and there's basically been radio silence since the last test months and months ago since this and them postponing their Early access plans or whatever they were in december so 5 months of.. uhh.. Hello??
Clicks at a random middlepoint of the video
Yeah, I'm on the same boat.

Yeah, I think I'll try the mod. I mean the game is released on consoles so why not use the existing Xinput configurations? With the "mod" (it's really just restoring the existing Xinput support) it's pretty great though. No clue why Arkane bothered with the new API if they can't be arsed to properly test it.
Oh I know. I started playing it last summer and really liked it. I just got a bit bored when I reached the Power plant I think? I think I'm about halfway through.Have with Prey, you are in for a treat
Where in the world would I get that game from?... and be sure to play the real Prey (2006) as well!
That's a possibility indeed. I really wanted Homefront The Revolution to do well so someone might feel that it was the right time to continue Freedom Fighters.i believe they only own the IP, not the game itself (as in: they can make new ones if they want, but they can't re-release the old one because EA owns that)
KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
Looked interesting, too bad I guess.... and be sure to play the real Prey (2006) as well!
(RIP Jawmuncher )
gonna be exclusive ... they're doing it on UE4 and they REALLY need the money
well tbh after playing alpha i got soo dissapointed .... the good rune fighting was definitely there if bit rough around the egdes , but the rest of the game kinda felt like poor mans budget "Conan Exiles" with Nordic skin on itYeah, I'm on the same boat.
Months of silence, pre-order page removed, and that whole speech. It's pretty obvious this will be yet another EGS exclusive.
Oh well, if they don't provide me with the promised Steam key, I'll do like I did with Phoenix Point: I'll ask for a refund.
Epic Games: saving me money since 2018.
that's the thing - they did ... when it came out it just had the standard xinput implementation ... but then a few months later they replaced it with steaminput, for some reason ... and here we are nowYeah, I think I'll try the mod. I mean the game is released on consoles so why not use the existing Xinput configurations?
funny thing this - if you can find a physical copy (they're fairly easy to find), the key from it will activate on steamWhere in the world would I get that game from?
Damn, if I could play 1/5 as good as that.Truly a work of art.
Funny enough, was replaying that yesterday, still a lot of fun. Feels like the early stages of division 2.Just your daily reminder that Freedom Fighters is not available in any digital platform, even with IO holding the rights (apparently).
HYYYYYYPE!!!The first Imperator Rome Streams are on.
Currently watching Quill18's run
i actually played a fair bit of it and honestly - it's not THAT bad ...I was interested in maybe getting Typing of the Dead: Overkill if it got on sale, but then I looked into it and it seems to be an ass-tier port. You have to choose between post-processing and being able to render at a resolution above 720p.
oh damn ... you're gonna have a lot of fun with those!thanks to Parsnip ill be doing my first playthrough of half life 2 and star wars knights of old republic 2
managed to get reshade to work with both aswell so expect some screens soon tooi actually played a fair bit of it and honestly - it's not THAT bad ...
oh damn ... you're gonna have a lot of fun with those!
ooooh, even better ... can't wait!managed to get reshade to work with both aswell so expect some screens soon too
it's probably your last chance before it dies againI really should install Unity now that lots of people are using it so I can actually do the co-op missions.
