Not really misskey io's fault btw. My instance (mastodon.art) is de-federation heavy so I'm often blocked by my admins.
I've got a waiting list entry in for mozilla.social so hopefully that happens soon and I can migrate to there. I don't mind mastodon.art but I am not sure I always agree with the reasoning for blocking entire servers. In this case, from what I understand, misskey io is blocked for legal reasons so at least that's a reasonable explanation.

I caved today and finally ported my account. I had been talking to my brother about this for a long time but lately I feel like the situation has only gotten worse. I think that the mastodon.art admin has her heart in the right place so it's no insult, but I'm kind of tired of feeling "overly sheltered" and need to branch out a bit more I think.
So I migrated to calckey.social. I was waiting for mozilla.social to open up but I'm ok here for now. I just have to repost all my art and other stuff since post migration still isn't a thing.

yes, absolutely! i really hope someone is also working on a really good desktop client (for windows, lol), i'd even pay for one
I'm unfortunately a bit annoyed with Calckey social today.
I migrated to the server because I thought that the moderation policy there was more laxed than mastodon.art, but it turns out that they have arbitrarily defederated from misskey.design (which was allowed on mastodon.art, one of the most heavily moderated communities on the platform). Now if they had a good reason, that would be fine, but it's kind of a red flag that the software isn't designed to show you which servers are defederated and for what reason.

how come we don't have our own logo on meta's instance lashman
Like the Mozilla one, ours are just normal mastodon logo/interface.
It's a shame that masto host doesn't let you change the icon.
I think branding individual hosts is kind of important as it helps people "understand" the fediverse a bit better. (As in, mastodon is a platform, not only a website.)
As an aside, how does everyone feel so far about the Fediverse? So far, I've been making pretty good use of Mastodon and Kbin, with most of my "personal" content being focused on mastodon, but kbin has been good for keeping up with the news or actually having discussions.

Mastodon is interoperable, decentralized, operated by a nonprofit, lively, and, ACTUALLY, isn't hard to use. So why is everyone championing Threads as the main Twitter alternative?

I do hope they follow through with this soon.
It's worth noting that they're going to roll out the feature in stages and I think it will always be an opt in feature according to Threads admins. While it's unfortunate it's opt-in since it means a lot of people will be off limits, I also think it's (for once from Meta) probably the right approach with regards to privacy and user agency so.

one of the downsides of having a decentralizing network and run by mostly volunteers, though I still prefer it this way.
