Nothing there yet. I’m stuck in a cafe waiting for CEX to test some hardware I’m selling, so looking for something to do.
Another cup of coffee of course. Does CEX pay good?![]()

I did indeed get a second cup. Now I’m full of caffeine.Another cup of coffee of course. Does CEX pay good?
I also need to sell / trade my Quest 2, I used it a grand total of like 3 hours. VR is not for me.I did indeed get a second cup. Now I’m full of caffeine.
And CEX pay OK for some things, terrible for others. They offer prices similar to eBay after shipping and fees if you exchange for vouchers, which is what I did, but their cash offer is poor.
I traded in my Quest 2 and a few old games for a PSVR 2 and PC adapter.
I love VR, but fuck Meta and their spyware. I’m sure the mics on it were listening to me.I also need to sell / trade my Quest 2, I used it a grand total of like 3 hours. VR is not for me.
Why does fediverse keep doing this? I know its pretty mild but this shaming and shitting on others to push themselves up is not only pretty lame its also toxic. So when the pillars of the community keep doing it, it sets kind of a bad tone.
Just to make sure its not only a pixelfed thing.
I was mostly talking about the issue with the fediverse at large, they keep shit talking and shaming everything that isnt part of the fediverse, like pixelfeds whole indenty is to shit talk instagram and tiktok while just copying them straight. My issue is that it bring such a bad tone, like promote your stuff on its merits. Only bullies make themselves look better by pushing others down.Well to be fair, the normies aren't going to leave instagram tbh

Speaking of which, are things on audible copy protected? Like can I download what I have there and delete the app?Yeah, agreed.
I prefer bookstore dot org and libro dot fm angle of 'friends don't let friends buy from amazon'.
Audible does have DRM. Libro fm is completely DRM free but it's also more expensive.Speaking of which, are things on audible copy protected? Like can I download what I have there and delete the app?
Figured, have bunch of book on audible that I wanted to listen to at the gymAudible does have DRM. Libro fm is completely DRM free but it's also more expensive.
officially, you can't, but ...Speaking of which, are things on audible copy protected? Like can I download what I have there and delete the app?

I do agree there's still too much friction involved. I assume a lot of folks will stop on their tracks once they have to choose a server.yeah the question is why dont more people do it? and no shit talking people allow lol!
Also feels like no one is recommending anyone to use the fediverse, most people drift there on their own because of convictions. (again, shaming people into using it doesnt count as recommending lol)I do agree there's still too much friction involved. Yeah same, it the main social media I use after all. But understandable, for many it is also about reach, the larger the userbase is the easier it is to find likeminded people.Hot take: I'm okay with Fedi being more of a niche thing.
Yeah; but even with that its light years ahead of anything elseI don’t even think Duolingo is worth paying for. It’s become inaccurate AI slop.
Honestly nothing beats language courses done by professionals. I don't think these language apps really help.Yeah; but even with that its light years ahead of anything else
I mean of course, but for me the app is more how it fits into my life, its more about me being able to do 20 minutes everyday at random times, rather than 2 hours once per week.Honestly nothing beats language courses done by professionals. I don't think these language apps really help.
I actually tried that, tried to use actual language books daily but yeah I just couldnt learn the same way I did with duolingo. Its not like didnt try other ways before I started thinking about duolingo again, it sucks but it was what worked the best for me.:/I feel like learning a language can’t be like convenience food, no matter what Silicon Valley tech bros tell you. Even before the AI slop Armageddon, Duolingo’s success rates were in the pits.
You’d be better off buying a book and doing 20 minutes a day from that. Not everything needs to be a digital tech solution.

Yeah I'd never trust my docs 100% on the cloud, because you'll eventually get screwed.Well, Proton Docs has already failed its reliability test for me.
I have very few spreadsheets. I rarely access them. Maybe a couple of times a month, when I'm dipping into the estate savings account so I can pay for things to tie up my mum's affairs. I document the outgoings on a spreadsheet just in case HMRC or the courts audit me because they think I'm embezzling funds.
I had to pay an outstanding tax bill of mum's today, wanted to access this spreadsheet today for the first time in a few weeks, and Proton Docs is just Not Working.
This really isn't good enough. I wouldn't consider this work mission critical, and I can come back to it tomorrow or in a few days, but it's a real bad look. It's pretty much convinced me I need to self-host.
For me, the appeal of Proton is it's in Europe and isn't Big Tech.Yeah I'd never trust my docs 100% on the cloud, because you'll eventually get screwed.
Agreed, I'm not sure if they're working on a desktop solution thoughFor me, the appeal of Proton is it's in Europe and isn't Big Tech.
But I cannot, and I stress absolutely cannot, use a browser only for my work.
Centralisation is great until it topples over. Proton isn't immune from that.
