In this scenario when they realize inertia is their enemy I expect them to release first on their platform and later on steam as a way to push people to join.
I would find this acceptable if they shorten the delay. I'm okay with companies priorising their own digital platform.

As long as they sell only PlayStation games they are doomed. Only reason why Epic Store hade more success than others is because they offer tons of games. Selling just your own games will never work. And that is just one thing that goes against Sony. Late ports, issue with regional availability, lack of properly built PC audience, prices... List goes on and on.

They are free to try but only thing they will do is make PC audience even more annoyed, lose even more of that audience, lose money and time developing store (they are already awful developing software and network systems, just look at PSN). And all of that while every other publisher releases games day 1 on Steam creating huge competition.

Sony finally realized what Xbox realized 10 years ago..

and that is the console gaming business has long hit its generational ceiling. You can only sell so many consoles every gen and push so many subs. Those numbers aren't increasing while game dev costs are.

PC is the only space for them to truly expand and grow the brand. Mobile doesn't fit with their big 1st party games.

But with PC they will have their own app + all the money from Steam. This will let them make a handheld much easier as well without having to strip down a console into some form factor full of obstacles/risks like the Vita. They just need to implement cross buy with their account app system and the handheld is already (basically) made. This will be Sony's path to try and really break into the PC space. Pushing day n date will accelerate everything very fast.

And unlike some of these other companies like Epic, they have a ton of game releases so them having a client makes more sense than just about everything else in the PC space outside of the PC gamepass app imo.

I think Nintendo will realize this by the end of the decade too and you will see their IP's start to hit the PC space soon. They will do it slowly and in some stupid way like they did with Mobile years back.

There is too much untapped potential in PC. This is like the only way these companies can increase shareholders value too.

Football Manager 25 cancelled

Good. Years upon years of SI incompetence and mismanagement has finally come to a head. Miles needs sacked.

FM26 will be a hot mess too but maybe after that they'll focus on features the players want and not shit like adding our selfies into the game so it can make us look like horrific mutant aliens

Mt. Whatever
Sony cannot make anything that, upon breaking, will render sections of my drives unusable unless I reformat them. They definitively do not have the control over the OS necessary for such a thing to be possible.
(I'm aware the Windows Store no longer does this. That does not change the fact that it once did.)
Don't put it past them. Sony has a long history of including root kits in PC software. :lampblob:

Thanks for sharing it and also for your time once again. Here's to the next PH3 port interview :drinking-blob:

For Trails Through Daybreak II, I did two features on RPG Site in addition to the interview. The first is a look at the PC release, exclusive features, and how it plays on Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Read that here.

The second is a console comparison covering PS5, PS4 on PS5, and Switch. Read that here.

SI absolutely needs to refocus on the basics. They have spent years piling on gimmick features to justify the yearly update that offer nothing to the game except bloat, while the things that really mattered like the simulation and match engine remained stagnant.

I don't see why they can't just port their console store to PC. It's already multiplatform since the PS3 days sort of, working on PSP, Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5 with whatever games are compatible on any devices to buy/download/install etc. I don't care if the client actually works and they have the same refund terms etc. Same for if they opt to have an app that is built in even when the game is on Steam (but of course make it a lighter version without the whole functionality like the actual store if it's bought from another store). As long as it's not a useless bloated mess like Rockstar's was (is?) or any of the others. Also it should have a setting to auto close on game quit when on another store. Ubi's used to have it but now I don't see it when playing stuff like Beyond Good & Evil remaster. They have experience with clients from some decades past for stuff like their online PC games, same as Blizzard started out with their WoW client back in the day. I don't recall any particularly bad issues but of course it's different to make a modern client with the expected features. But they have the resources/did it on PS.

Blizzard only sold their own games on battle.net for something like 20 years and they did just fine. It only changed when they were acquired by another company with a different vision for gaming. Of course it helps that Blizzard used to make the highest quality games but I bet Sony (incorrectly) thinks they do too. Some of the most popular games on PC have their own launchers as well. I don't think the PC audience is as resistant to the idea of more launchers than it is to launchers that harm the experience or make it worse in any way.

But with the way modern game production budgets are going, publishers cannot afford to try and bring all their potential customers to them and instead need to go where their customers already are.

First ever gacha to get RTX support? That's crazy. No interest in this one, but i love to see it from a tech perspective.
Wuthering Waves had a rough start but by all accounts they've been killing it with their post launch support. Their audience on social cannot stop gushing about how good the game has gotten in recent months, and especially after their 2.0 relaunch. And some of the artwork I've seen of the game, especially the environment art, has been gorgeous. I guess the game will look even better now with RTX. It's a shame I have no time to invest in another one these big open world live services.

new $15 Fanatical charity bundle has some pretty good games, including Thank Goodness You're Here!, Little Kitty Big City, A Space for the Unbound, TOEM, and more

This looks like a pretty decent bundle and it will almost certainly sell out in a day or two so pick it up early if you're interested. Thank Goodness You're Here was absolutely hilarious and it's a must play. That cat game also has incredibly good reviews on Steam, as does A Space for the Unbound.

a week ago I bought FM24 and was lamenting that I took the plunge on FM24 way too late and should have waited for FM25 that will release in march.
Man, I am feeling so much better now ^^
Sad for the cancellation but I wouldn't have bought the next game anyway just 2 months later.
I will probably also not buy FM26, the whole engine change seems like its coming in hot.

Well the bundle sold out in about 5-6 hours I'd say. It was really good value.

The Gothic remake devs are doing a making-of documentary series with the first episode out today...

Really hope it turns out good. They go out of their way to emphasize that they are trying to appeal to fans of the game.

Obviously not the same situation given sports seasons, but FM really needs break like WWE did. The recent WWE games have been a lot better than the ones from 3-4 years ago.

Think Sony just has one network cable, so either it goes to the playstation servers or their pc servers, so until they get a router and a cable, people just have to play in shifts!
You just described how the networks of 99% of companies are set up and I'm not even joking. There's always a single cable, a single switch or a single port config that's keeping the whole thing up, tucked away in some shitty "server room", formerly known as someone's office or a corner bathroom, with no temperature or access control.
The world's IT infrastructure is held up by string and bits of gum.

So I snagged an ultrawde 21:9 34 QDLED from MSI. I just need a fucking new GPU but they aren't sold in my region lollll.

Any tips? I noticed right away using it for media kind of blows but for gaming its great!

Cool, someone notify me when they get FSR 3.1 (with frame generation), XeSS, and anything higher than a 120FPS cap added to the game (without needing an SQLite database editor to change settings).

This game runs terribly on mobile phones, questionably on AMD hardware, and only runs decently on a system with a NVIDIA GPU because they only add stuff like DLSS for NVIDIA cards.

Same criticism I have with the new Honkai Star Rail update really.

I was deadset on waiting for a macbook air M4 ... but maybe I should get a macbook pro instead? I can probably access all my gacha games on mac either through emulation or ports (like this one)

Mihoyo games will not work on Mac and they are notorious for banning accounts that circumvent their official platforms. Not worth the risk if you have invested heavily in your account.

I'm thinking about getting the M4 air as well but with the way Apple's ridiculous pricing works in my country, I suspect the Macbook pro M4 will cost almost the same as a similarly specced M4 air. The upside of the air is that it has a larger screen which I really want. So I've been going bck and forth on this for a while now.
