KCD is on Mac?Oh no my Mac doesnt really play KCD 1 that well, so thought I would buy it on console, but neither xbox nor playstation play it well either.![]()
Yeah Im using whisky, which is essentially proton but for Mac.KCD is on Mac?![]()
it looks a bit muddy, but it runs at a steady 30FPS on Deck. That might make combat a bit tricky, but I think that is mostly about Simon Says pattern detection than actually reaction heavy action, so probably doable, but still a bit trickier.Oh no my Mac doesnt really play KCD 1 that well, so thought I would buy it on console, but neither xbox nor playstation play it well either.![]()
yeah I was considering that, but that is essentially how it runs on my Mac, AND the consoles it seems. Might save the game till the day it either gets a remaster or I have a PCit looks a bit muddy, but it runs at a steady 30FPS on Deck. You're, like, the first Indian guy that interacted with Johnny. You should've asked about music scene in India lol.I interviewed Johnny from Health (amazing band if you haven't heard them before) about how Max Payne 3 changed things for them, a funny story about the GTA V song they did, how the Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration almost didn't happen, how he played most of Elden Ring on tour on Steam Deck, his thoughts on streaming services, the Evangelion memes, and more for RPG Site.

As a professional Watch_Dogs 1 disliker, I've never been more impressed by WD2. Play using no guns, and it turns into proto-Splinter Cell/MGS5 like. Plus the game has so many interlocking system, it feels "immersive sim"-lite.
Personally I love both, but WD2 is definitely the better game due to level design. You're, like, the first Indian guy that interacted with Johnny. You should've asked about music scene in India lol.

Love how in WD2, the puzzles interlock with the world. There are no "towers", and you need put actual effort (in a Ubisoft game, no less) to find specific upgrades). It is brilliant in many ways.Personally I love both, but WD2 is definitely the better game due to level design.![]()

Soooo.... it's a Civ game. All Civ games since Civ4 release reviews were mid, at best, and the games only started getting some good public recognition after expansions. It's been like this for 20 years, it shouldn't be a surprise to no one.Looks like Civ7 reviews are very mid. And the user reviews for the early launch are negative.
Speaking of "it shouldn't be a surprise to no one"...Sigh, they're really going to try and do an their own app
Between this and taking down the Bloodborne fan projects, Sony is speed running career suicide on PCInteresting....

It will be worse.Ugh.
It objectively can't be worse than Microsoft's, at least. Given Sony publishes most of their games on both EGS and Steam, they should have the data to know that trying to leave Steam is a bad idea, as well.
Sony cannot make anything that, upon breaking, will render sections of my drives unusable unless I reformat them. They definitively do not have the control over the OS necessary for such a thing to be possible. It will be worse.
At least you have self service refunds on Microsoft / Xbox.
Just had that for two weeks, anything new or not slow or requiring attention or thought was just too much, mostly just rewatched some old TV shows, get better soonGetting a week off of work because you are sick

No I don't see them leaving Steam. They might be doing the mini client thing that launches from Steam, like Ubi and Origin did for a while. Not saying that's good or anything but it might mean they don't leave steam which would be a really fucking dumb.
That or they make some trimmed-down Linux thingamabob with Proton on it to avoid paying dues to Microsoft. :^PClient makes sense and now Sony will likely have day n date releases with pc. Or something much closer than now.
This client stuff will be the only way they fully embrace PC going forward.
This is probably how they push out their handheld as well. They won't even need a PS handheld. They will just make their own Windows handheld and most of their PS5/PS4 1st party games are gonna be available on PC so most of the hard work is done for them with a client. They just create some dumb layer on top of windows with PS logo and you have a PS5 handheld (basically lol)
Would be great if both Microsoft and Sony partner with Valve. And for the Deck 2 you will be able to log into Steam, PSN and PC Gamepass. That would be the dream. That or they make some trimmed-down Linux thingamabob with Proton on it to avoid paying dues to Microsoft. :^P
People don't want to see this but it's true. This client stuff will be the only way they fully embrace PC going forward.
Maybe they are looking at what Xbox does with "Play Anywhere" and they're going to copy that. I can definitely see them bringing some version of PS+ to PC as well.Interesting....

Almost a given, the question is when is it feasable. A Play Anywhere-like functionality would also be great.Maybe they are looking at what Xbox does with "Play Anywhere" and they're going to copy that. I can definitely see them bringing some version of PS+ to PC as well.
This is Sony we're talking about. They banned hundreds of account by accident not so long ago lol.Sony cannot make anything that, upon breaking, will render sections of my drives unusable unless I reformat them. (I'm aware the Windows Store no longer does this. That does not change the fact that it once did.)
"Despite past challenges faced by others, we have a unique opportunity to leverage our extensive collection of popular and beloved IPs to attract players to our service. By offering high-quality titles that resonate with gamers globally, we can increase our revenue by selling directly to players, bypassing platforms such as Steam and the Epic Games Store. This strategy not only strengthens our brand but also enhances our connection with the gaming community"Interesting....

This line actually made me wonder... what if it was not a shitty app? What if they recognized that all the other 3rd party apps have failed partly because the publishers didn't really want to invest in them? And they take that lesson to heart and actually create a high quality store/launcher. Nobody can match the breadth of features Steam offers but if they get all the basics right and have some sort of differentiator (day 1 PC releases and such), would they succeed?what probably they said to themselves while patting their own backs as they greenlit this sure-to-be shitty app.
Having your own digital platform is key for strategic purposes. This is not only about money, this is hopefully the foundation of the whole PS ecosystem on PC.This line actually made me wonder... what if it was not a shitty app? I guess the question is, would it work out for them if they put out a flawless launcher or would people ignore them anyway because Steam is just too sticky?
My personal take is that even if you get everything right (like Bnet has more or less), you'll still be missing out on making money because you lack the visibility that Steam offers. And if you do put your game on Steam and your own launcher then Steam will likely take away almost all the sales you'd get on your launcher and make it useless and redundant. Possibly a waste of money to even try.
Having your own digital platform also costs salaries to maintain, and the more games depend on it, the more it will cost. Of course the "ecosystem" or MAU numbers are important, but there is a reason so many publishers gave up in the end: it takes a single bad windows/PSApp update to cause issues, isues your employes will have to resolve instead of depending on Valve's. And that's without talking about server costs, automated compatibility layers Steam offers (controllers, proton)Having your own digital platform is key for strategic purposes
The examples in your post demonstrate why having your own ecosystem is important. If you build your business on top of someone else's business then you are always dependent on the middleman's good graces. If tomorrow Valve makes a change that you as a publisher find unacceptable then you are fucked because the people who bought your game are not your customers, they're Valve's customers and you will risk losing them all if you pull away from Steam. In other words, you will have to acquiesce to any bullshit Valve might pull because they hold the keys to your business on the PC platform. This is why all these companies make their own launchers and their own accounts so that they can get direct access to you if shit goes sideways one day. This is actually the correct thing to because while we might believe that Valve would never fuck over their clients, there have been many cases of things like this happening throughout history. It's just annoying because we, as the customers, get the short end of the stick when they insist on pushing their half baked launchers and account systems that keep introducing new problems for us and diminish the user experience in general. The companies that have given up and come back to Steam have done so because in their estimation they are losing out on more revenue than it's worth by not being on Steam but they are absolutely putting their fortunes in the hands of Valve when they do so.Having your own digital platform also costs salaries to maintain, and the more games depend on it, the more it will cost. Like, imagine if the PSApp releases, and future Steam ports require the app to run in the background like EA's. When the plug gets inevitably plugged 3 years later you 1) have to go back to all the games you released to patch the PSApp out or 2) keep the autentication server online forever, and good luck if you fuck up one of these 2 steps since the Steam reviews will be impossible to control. Better hope for each of your games to be piratable so you can at least simply torrent them and swap the PSApp .exes with the cracked one
And even if you do everything perfectly and create the best PSApp possible good luck in finding a way to move chinese users from Steam considering how much their government loves to randomly crack down on "external" programs (technically there should be a CN only Steam version for them, but everyone justs VPNs to the worldwide version and no one bats an eye because of all the money it makes)
They will have inertia to contend for years even if they get it right, so they should be aware they’re in for the longest of runs. This line actually made me wonder... what if it was not a shitty app?
