Higurashi readers, which in your opinions are the best sprites to select when reading it?
Personally, I'd go with original sprites, or as Theswweet affectionally put it, ham hands. The slight disadvantage of it is they look jarring when combined with HD (16:9) backgrounds, so they're not to everyone's taste. This is the way I've played them, however; combined with ADV mode.

Finally!

This is the final episode (not counting an upcoming fan-disc), so now is a good time to get on the chuuni-train, if you like that kind of story.
Also available on Denpasoft (NSFW).
The backlog never stops growing.

I like the simplicity of the ps2/3 sprites the most. But really just pick whatever is the most appealing to you, it really doesn't matter tbh.

Don't listen to those people Snakethesniper
Console spirtes all day everyday, both for Higurashi and Umineko
Well, nobody mentioned the mangagamer ones, so that's probably one choice less. Only thing I've noticed with the ps2/3 sprites is that they seem less expressive with those "line" mouths

Personally I prefer the PS3 sprites, but I've also played several VNs with Ryukishi07's own sprites and they do grow on you.
There are also people who prefer the MangaGamer sprites, but you should just pick which of the 3 sets of sprites that you like the most.

The only thing I would I would say is an absolute must is modding in the voice acting, since it adds a lot to the characters even if you don't understand Japanese.

Yeah yeah I've modded the voices in!

Very sad to see Evan go, his contributions to expanding Muv-Luv in the west can't possibly be understated. This is definitely a huge loss for anchor and Muv-Luv fans in general. While I'm not worried about future projects/long term goals of other Muv-Luv properties as stuff like TDA was done without Evan's involvement, I am curious what happens to Kiminozo.

Regardless, I wish Evan the best on whatever he does next.

I wouldn't worry too much about the state of KimiNozo. Localisation specialists are a close-knit bunch so hopefully someone can pick up where Even left fairly quickly.

Musicus! got a release date! And it's coming to Steam! But it looks like it'll be an AO release on Steam. Judging by the content warning it's the same situation as Fxxx Me: They tried for an all ages release, but Valve said no.

And is that a Tokimeki translation I see teased!?

TIL there's a SNES version of Tokimeki. How did they manage to get the entire script into 4MB ROM?!

Also this looks interesting. Seems like it has plenty of puzzles, like 999.

Also, didn't Curse of Kudan supposed to be on Steam at some point? Looks like we got another one struck down by their nebulous rules. :dana_cry:

Yeah, derp. I keep mixing up the names and I already own RJ.
And yeah, Curse of Kudan was unfortunately rejected by Valve despite being an "all ages" title.
Too much fan-service I guess, that or they just got a grumpy reviewer.

But I'll probably get CoK from JAST, since it is also available there.
Unlike MG, JAST's store isn't stuck in the early 2000s.

Speaking of all-ages releases, MG also just announced Christmas Tina: Ephemeral Views of Winter

The plot summary is a bit silly, but it looks pretty nice if you ignore the drab looking image in the tweet and check VNDB or their blog for screenshots.

I have read about 5hours of Curse of Kudan over the last few days, and unless it turns into A Wonderful Everyday later on, I cannot understand why this harmless Mystery VN is not in Steam.

So many titles here that I'd love to have in english someday. Speaking of Laplacian, JAST USA has announced "World's Horniest Housewife - Rikky Horne" for a western release tomorrow, an April Fool's nukige title by Laplacian. NSFW, but I'd recommend watching the trailer anyway because it's very hilariously over the top (it's also vanilla btw). Was interested to see who would pick up Laplacian titles after Mirai Radio fell through with Sol Press, hopefully this leads to JAST picking up the rest of their titles sometime soon.

I honestly wouldn't have expected to see an episodic title (9-nine- ep. 3) to do so well.
Hopefully we'll get some of the other titles as well in the future.

It's great to see Laplacian having found a new partner.
I just hope that JAST isn't using Rikky Horne as a test-run for Laplacian licenses.
It's pretty different from Laplacian's other titles and also pretty much their only title that I'm not interested in.

However, there is also a rumor that NekoNyan is doing Mirai Radio, since Bango was supposedly translating something sci-fi for NN, and they worked on at least one Laplacian game for Sol Press. I guess we'll see once NN start announcing their five secret projects, but take it with a big grain of salt until then.

It'd really suck if this was a "localization test." Honestly I'm more likely to believe JAST picked it up because it's a shorter nukige, which is primarily what they focus on and idk how interested they really are in working to bring over their other titles. I'll probably pick it up anyway though if it's not expensive.

The nekonyan rumor is interesting, though funny enough Bango was also the one who worked on Rikky Horne, so I guess that could technically make it his 3rd Laplacian title if the rumors are true.

I remember reading somewhere that their first title, Kimi to Yumemishi, is also a bakage (as in "stupid game"). I got a free copy on DMM but still haven't played it:grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Thanks for the heads-up, btw. Didn't notice that they have made a nukige before Hakuchuumu no Aojashin.

Bushiroad acquired Frontwing.

Wow... Not sure with the potential impacts. Does this mean Frontwing getting out of the eroge business?
Oh damn, I mixed up the names.
That just makes me all the more exited for that episode to drop.
Hope you enjoy the series. I am waiting for the release of the upcoming extra episode before jumping in.

Tempting, though I'd much rather have a PC limited edition release:

Yeah, there was a weird licence issue with the PC or something where the devs didnt have the licence to put the expanded content/ updated graphics out on PC. Very odd, and im kinda surprised nobody's patched it in.

Looking closer at the box art, it does say "Dreams of the revenant edition" meaning that all the extra stuff not on pc is presumably included.

Meteor World Actor sequel releasing in JP on June 25th 2021

I imagine Shiravune will be taking care of this game as well. Hopefully they find a way to release the game on more platforms than Johren as I've seen many people having issues with making purchases on that site. I still don't understand how they weren't able to get it on Steam when something like Eden's Ritter made it on no problem...

They probably got tripped by the fact that a couple of the heroines are very young looking, despite all being working age adults, combined with the fact that they submitted both the "all ages" version and the 18+ DLC. It's futile to speculate now, but I don't think it would have been rejected if it was just the AA version they had submitted.

Possibly, though I've also heard the horror stories of devs removing all the 18+ content for an "all ages" release, Steam forcing them to make it an "adult" release, then Steam coming back to them asking where the adult content is. I try not to look much deeper into it than just Steam's submission process being fucked because there's no clearly defined ruleset on what can and can't make it through submission.

Planner, scenario writer, and representative for Laplacian, Ono Wasabi, confirms on Twitter that plans for a Steam release with English/Chinese language of Hakuchuumu no Aojashin is currently being planned. Guess now we just wait to see who reveals it. My guess is similar to Exzyleph's in it being Nekonyan, but I wouldn't be surprised to see JAST or Shiravune pop up either. Guess I'm glad to know that it's happening and hope that Mirai Radio gets announced as well.

Finally! Please end the story probably this time.

Edit: Wait, it is a low-priced title. So it is more like a fan disc rather than a proper sequel. :jj_mofo:

I will wait for the third entry before playing this one.

That's fantastic.

Though I hope that Shiravune isn't involved in this case, since a failure to get on Steam would mean that the game would end up being a Johren exclusive.

As if Johren wasn't unappealing enough of a store, they've now decided to add Denovu to their most recent additions (Salthe and Megasuki):

Unfortunately that probably also means that Doukyuusei is gonna have Denovu, since it is going to be a Johren exclusive.

Denpasoft is also pretty decent these days.
Their eCommerce host pulling the plug forced them to redo the store from scratch, putting it roughly on par with JAST in the process.
It's not yet as polished as JAST, but they are still working on it as far as I know.

The latest entry of Memories Off, SINce Memories: Hoshi no Sora no Shita de, is officially revealed.

Knowing how the series love writing dark pasts and now this title ("SIN")... Very excited to play it.
