So, after more and more cities already started to do so individually, there'll be a conference on sunday about a nationwide curfew in Germany.
It's pretty much expected that it'll happen.

So when going to the store, does it have to be the closest one or can one choose? Do you know how it's in France? Wok
It should be close to your home, not necessarily the closest one.

Say you have to walk 1 hour to get to the store, you might be checked and not very convincing. Police might assume you are making fun of them.

I think you should be okay if:
  1. you have the paper with the date and your signature ready,
  2. and you do not go further than a 20-minute walk from your home.
That being said, I have not been checked yet, as I stay home as much as possible.

Ah ok, but yeah at least it's in the same arrondissement. Also are the stores open normal times? Trying to check the times for Casino stores online but it just says 24h open, ehm.

Our ALDI started to only allow 10 people inside the shop at once, there are signs at the floor to remind people to keep distance from each other.

Was thinking about what Monooboe said about homeless people.
We donated 30 food cans, bottled water and some camping gas cookers (with a couple of small gas bottles) to our church, as they are going to run a program for them and people with very low income. Asked neighbors to do the same, and some of them will. If you can easily afford it, please consider it too meta.

I get it: It won't help at all, but I seriously don't have another idea. We'll keep this up for as long as possible.

It depends. The place where I buy my bread from opens 1 hour later and closes 3 hours earlier than usual, and they are open 5 days/week instead of 6.

That is because they are under-staffed due to the lockdown, which is understandable: some might be sick, some might have kids to look after, etc.

Things have been pretty surreal in Italy for the past few weeks, streets are empty and silent for the most part of the day and restrictions will be extended soon.

I must admit that I've been enjoying my time at home with my loved ones though. A little solace in a bad situation.

Most of the company is in homeoffice since Monday and it's working surprisingly well. And it looks like we'll be in home-office for another 3 weeks at least.
Gotta say, I enjoy having no commute.

While I've been working from home since January, having to self isolate and not actually leave my apartment at all is really starting to get to me and my wife. Cabin fever is definitely starting to get to us. I think I might just walk around the block later, with her, so we can see something besides the walls of our apartment, and take wide berths if we see people

So, the 2 persons in my family that were still inexplicably going to work are now coughing :face-screaming-in-fear:
They'll stay home from now on of course... I just hope my parents won't develop severe symptoms at this point, they're not super old, but still 3% chance of death for their age group for now in Italy.
But it's really stupid, lots of companies here are still against working from home, wanting to see the employees at their desk...

I've been working from home for the past 2 weeks at least, but too many people are still outside: I've never seen so many people running / biking / walking around here... Stupid all around.

My mother said that yesterday at the dairy shop (not sure if this is the word, but the local place that produces and sell dairy products) the people there were telling her that some old guy kept coming every day to buy 1 mozzarella. So they decided to stop making them and only produce products that have a longer shelf-life, so that people can't use that excuse to get out...
Again, stupid all around.

What? What are they buying?

My regular grocery shopping is 2 times a week, and that's more than enough. The refrigerator was invented for a reason.

It's just an excuse to get out.

Even my aunts are still going out and they're like 80+ years old. They made themselves some masks and pretty much go out every day to buy bread... at least they have the excuse that the place is really close to them, like the road right next to theirs, but still...

This is rather scary and makes the reality of the virus much clearer.
yes -- and every person who see info like this, understands it and adheres to the tips showcased is one more person helping to fight the curve, helping to keep the spread low.

I am not sure it is a good idea. Even for the people who wear actual medical masks.

Indeed, I see so many of them touching their faces and masks all the time to adjust it. I am confident that it is safer to stay at a one-meter distance from other people, avoid touching one's face outside, and wash hands and face when you go back home.

Yes, that would be the sane thing to do, but we're talking about 80+ year old italian women, there's no sanity left :face-with-look-of-triumph:

Anyway, little grocery shops don't allow for more than 1 person inside at each given time, so the 1-meter distance is at least respected. Even outside the shops, if there are more people waiting in line, they'll police each other and keep the safety distance.
There are of course some idiots here and there, but that's always the case.

I had mild flu like symptoms and not sure if corona or not. I also had flu like symptoms 3 weeks ago and both times I had a little fever. I usually never get a fever unless it's some real hc virus. My cousins family were once recovering from influenza that had them all sick as fuck for almost two weeks and after i was hanging around with them i got symptoms like these. In the last 10 years I've had a fever like 6 times counting these two cases and it's always max 2 days. :thinking-blob:

This was the reason I had to come into the office on short notice today. Had to help bagging 1000+ "letters of indispensability" signed by our CEO for our employees, so that we could get them to the post office by 6 pm. Someone up top got spooked and they want our workers to able to come in to work (food processing plant) even in the event of a curfew.

Boris Johnson just mandated to close: restaurants (take out excluded, thank god), coffee shops pubs, bars, clubs, cinemas, theatres, music venues, bingo halls, casinos, betting shops, spas, gyms, etc.
They should close end of day today, and not reopen tomorrow. In 15 days they'll re-evaluate.

Also, damn generous economic plan to sustain people at risk of losing their job! I'm absolutely impressed by it.

You can claim benefit if you're out of work, but it's not to the tune of £2500 a month, which is what they're doing here.

Went to grocery store for parents. Its was crowded as fuck. I'm going to do everything I can to avoid them for the next MONTH. I have plenty of food stocked up but parents asked for a favor so I went. I'll go again, for them, but I'm wearing gloves and a fucking mask next time.

NJ is in soft lockdown, could be heading toward CA and NYS style lockdown as early as tomorrow. We all got a letter that we are an essential business because we deliver parts for healthcare, IT, defense and agriculture customers. Which is true and even though I've gotta venture out into this stuff, at least my job supports important things. Maybe at the other end of this, all of us "lower workers", whether we're IT workers or retial workers, get a little bump in pay/recognition..... Someone getting paid 200K to design fancy new smartphone UI can fuck off directly into the sun atm.

It ain't lost me on me one little tiny fucking bit how 'lower class' and 'low skill' workers are out there supporting our betters during this time. Got a friend working grocery right now in the fucking trenches and another friend who works as a sub/social worker out there delivering meals to kids now that schools are closed. Friend, who is one of my best friends, working as graphic designer is basically holed up in his apt for the forseeable future, snug as a bug in a rug.

German Epidemiologists started to signal red lights like crazy today. The spread is nearly out of control here. They recommend tough measures that need to be in place for long periods of time. It also could be already too late.

No matter where you are: STOP spreading the virus. Stay at home. Even a small apartment is better than the sarcophagus that you are putting your vulnerable family and friends into.

As tempting as it is to condemn people, we don't know the whole story there. This is the first week-end of confinement in France if I'm not mistaken and people's situation might require them to move. Some of them might be selfish idiots, but I'm sure there's a story behind a lot of them trying to travel.

Yeah I don't think it's simply that they want to travel, more like they want to escape Paris. Continue confinement with family and such.
Sorry, I phrased that badly. I meant that it's not about simply escaping, but probably for other reasons : people needing them, or having good cause to move away if that video was shot in the capital. Fleeing out of concern only spreads the virus, and I don't doubt some of them are doing that stupid thing.

I just don't want to condemn them because a video shows lots of people in one place and invites hasty outrage. These are exceptional, historic times and who knows what their circumstances are.

Finland reported its first death from corona on Saturday. RIP.
Maybe it will shock some idiots into understanding that strong suggestions to self quarantine where possible is better than actual quarantine.
PM has talked about possibly limiting travel from capital area of Finland because of how concentrated it is there.

My sister has most of the common symptoms of Covid-19 (fever, dry cough, and fatigue), unfortunately they will not test her unless it becomes serious. She has asthma, so I definitely worry it would be bad to not have a targeted treatment. She lives in a different state, one that has had considerably more cases than my state. Though even my state is now saying they will only test hospitalisations since they are running out of test kits.

Germany has apparently started to take in french patients from Alsace. Europe needs to minimize the spread, more and more regions seem to be overburdened.

florida closed down all restaurants sans pick up and delivery. My job is uncertain at this point, I work both buss and fryer/expo. They told me to stay home this weekend while they will evaulate where we stand on monday so fingers cross that I get at least two or three shifts this week. thankfully I have a around 20k saved up but no clue how long this will last.
