Also another reason Back 4 Blood is going to suck assbe bad in the long term:

In case you don't know what versus campaign is, it's zombies against people in the campaign setting, so PVP while trying to play the normal game and it made l4d really fun since playing against regular zombies gets pretty predictable since well people are almost always smarter than AI.

According to all this it seems like its just going to be only their horde mode

Damn lots of hate on Back 4 Blood. I actually really enjoy playing it with my friends, on the difficulty under Nightmare, prob going to try Nightmare today though.

Obviously anyone expecting it to be LFD3 is going to be disappointed. I've played lFD2 and LFD for years, since release and they are 2 very different games. But it's a decently fun game for what it's doing.

What's going to kill it is the $80 price tag (CAD) and the mountains of DLC.

Game should have been F2p or like $20 if they planned on the DLC shit show.

The only real gameplay disappointing thing for me is no Versus Campaign.

I'm not saying it's a bad game it's just when you go with the tag line of "From the makers of l4d!" and calling it "Back 4 blood" you're kind of setting peoples expectations of what it's going to be.

I didn't expect World War Z to be a carbon Copy of L4d but it had elements similar to it (That's why I'm curious about it still, also because I haven't played it since it was tied to epic)

Just like how Vermintide & Vermintide 2 set themselves up as their own thing but being neat versions of that concept
That's why I'm optimistic about
Fatshark isn't perfect with their stuff but at least they've been consistent

I expect Darktide to be a buggy un balanced mess and I will love every second of it.
Still play Verm2 a lot

Hah!... Just to prove the comic wrong I actually started a game.

Decided to go with a shorter game after a bunch of long ones, so went for Observation.

Not very far. Story and atmosphere seems good.... but gameplay seems dull (several simon says) and controls are just bad. Terrible MK support/interface, and I really hate using a gamepad for first person.

Hope the story side wins out in the end, but so far, that's what I get for actually playing a game :p

Aaron D. hey buddy, pretty sure I seen you play the demo… what did you think of it?

Sucker comes out the 10th and then CMS the following day :sweaty-blob:
Feels like it's got some interesting ideas in place.

I didn't like the camera controls as they felt kinda floaty as though it had mouse acceleration and there was no option to turn it off. Doesn't fee quite optimized yet either as my fps were all over the place (no option to limit to 60, etc.) and my fans sounded like a plane taking off.

Missions are also timed and that's a grievous mistake for games that are supposed to be Zen. GD I hate feeling rushed in games.

Gonna keep an eye on it but it's in Pass territory for me right now.

Thanks for the impressions :)

Timed missions are a no-go for me as well. I’ll see if a trainer gets released and if there’s an option to freeze the timer I’ll pick it up. Goddamn cutting grass and having a freshly cut lawn feels so gooood. I’d kill for a House Cleaning Simulator

It's not modern, but fairly (to my knowledge anyway) unknowon: GORE Ultimate Soldier.

If you specify what release dates you're looking for and what you've already played, I can give some more suggestions.
I'm not even sure I can be helped. My desire is as much a real craving for fps as a rose tinted nostalgia one. In other words, I don't even know what I want.
I suppose my dream is sort of a light cinematic shooter (so no dumb arenas nor long cinematics) with graphics that still stand up. Let's say made in the last 5 years.
Unfortunately, and while I don't hate them, it seems GAAS have replaced those more traditional shooters. And BR games. BR games everywhere.

Lowkey wish there was an official re-release of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

It is a game I can confidently assume has not aged well, but it is a bit of a shame it disappeared. I know its sequel was received poorly, but heck re-release that too with it. As I understand it, the old Steam release is unplayable thanks to TAGES DRM (unless cracked) and GOG removed their version.

But not worth an extra thread.

There is an observable difference in reporting about the new iCloud scanning plans from Apple over here.

Normal news media: Apple is fighting back against child porn.
Tech media: Total surveillance - Apple's fall from grace

I got a friend to buy it for me when Gamestop had stock. Didn't try to play it yet, but yeah, I guess it's quite complicated and might involve cracking the exe.... lol

I'm with the tech media. In 2015 they had the right idea with refusing to unlock the guy's phone. Scanning user files is unacceptable, especially in the context of the surveillance apparatus that you can bet your ass will abuse this capability.

I agree.

Imo, it's not a private companies duty to do criminal investigations and to treat everybody as suspicious.
Yes, Apple's intend is honorable and seems like a good idea. But once this front door (hard to call their plan a back door) is implemented, it will stay open no matter what.

In most democracies people are innocent, until proven guilty. They are also only being investigated when there is a reason. "General suspicion" doesn't exist for good reason.

I'm aware that other companies are already scanning files when uploading to a cloud and that Apple is currently creating a sort of "safe space" for those scum bags. It is a problem. But following that logic, you could argue that the police not randomly, brute searching homes is also a problem, because it allows kidnappers to hold their victims more easily.

Kidnappers and drug laboratories exist, so we need to actively search homes everywhere. Or do you have something to hide?

The difference in reporting, reasoning and tone is dramatically different though. It is interesting to witness.
